Chapter 522: Chapter 256: Where is Chen Cheng?

Xia Lingfeng raised his eyebrows, then poured and drank two more cups of tea.

This tea had been specially prepared by Jiang Botao to welcome Xiao Nianci.

Xiao Nianci cultivated the Wood Element Realm lineage from Five Elements Peak. She loved to savor tea and was extremely particular about her leaves.

Therefore, every single leaf had been meticulously selected from this batch of tea. After brewing, it yielded only this one small pot.

But now, most of it was in Xia Lingfeng’s stomach!

For such precious tea to be drunk by a brute like Xia Lingfeng was a complete and utter waste. Even someone as composed as Jiang Botao was starting to lose his patience.

He stared at Xia Lingfeng, his eyes wide!

He didn’t say a word, but his reproach was perfectly clear!

"Lord Jiang, why are you so quiet? Don’t tell me you’re heartbroken over the tea?" Xia Lingfeng stared right back, engaging Jiang Botao in a staring contest as he feigned ignorance.

’I can’t be bothered arguing with a brute like you!’

Jiang Botao sighed inwardly. Outwardly, however, he just smiled. "Lord Xia, you jest."

"Lord Xiao has arrived," a soldier announced.

Everyone turned to look down the official road.

In the distance, a troop of brocade-robed knights could be seen escorting a large, luxurious, dual-horse carriage as it sped along the road toward them.

The horses pulling the carriage were over ten feet tall, their coats pure white, with single horns growing from their foreheads. They ran like the wind, leaving the contingent of knights far behind.

They were clearly Tier One Demon Beasts—Unicorn Dragon Horses, capable of traveling thousands of miles in a single day.

Xia Lingfeng and Jiang Botao had everyone fall into formation to welcome them.

Before long, the carriage drew near. The Unicorn Dragon Horses let out a loud neigh, their four hooves stamping fiercely as they came to a sharp halt!

Dust billowed everywhere!

Two young women in brocade robes were driving the carriage. With a wave of their fair hands, they sent out several gusts of wind, blowing the dust away.

"My Lady, we have arrived at Linji City," one of the brocade-robed women said respectfully.

The carriage curtain was drawn back, and a woman in red, her face veiled by a light gauze, glanced outside. Her gaze finally settled on Xia Lingfeng.

"Miss Xiao, you still love making such a grand entrance! Why the mysterious veil? Afraid of running into an old acquaintance?"

Xia Lingfeng raised his eyebrows and grinned, his voice booming.

Xiao Nianci huffed. "Big-bearded Xia, so many years have passed, and you’re still so tactless. Careful, or I might just cut out that tongue of yours!"

"If it means I get to gaze upon Miss Xiao’s beautiful face, I would gladly cut out my own tongue!" Xia Lingfeng replied, looking utterly shameless.

"I can’t be bothered with you!" Xiao Nianci said with a playful glare, then slowly stepped down from the carriage.

City Lord Jiang Botao hurriedly led his retinue forward to pay their respects.

Xiao Nianci was quite cold toward Jiang Botao, merely giving a casual wave of her hand and exchanging a few polite pleasantries.

Jiang Botao, however, became even more solicitous, inviting Xiao Nianci to rest in the pavilion.

"This tea isn’t bad. Being such a fresh spring tea, it must have come from a Grotto Heaven Blessed Land rich in the essence of grass and wood.

It’s just a pity that the brewing Skills were a bit crude.

For a pot of fresh tea, only the first two cups are truly mellow and sweet. The rest loses its freshness and isn’t worth drinking."

The moment Xiao Nianci sat down at the stone table, she could already tell from the aroma that the tea was extraordinary.

Jiang Botao was about to order a servant to pour tea, but his expression froze when he heard her words. He couldn’t help but glance at Xia Lingfeng.

Xia Lingfeng, for his part, was self-aware enough to know Jiang Botao was blaming him. He immediately said in his boisterous way:

"I didn’t realize Miss Xiao would arrive so quickly, so I accidentally took my time savoring those first few fresh cups.

A grave sin! A grave sin!"

"A brute like you knows how to savor tea? That’s like an ox chewing on a peony!" Xiao Nianci said with a chiding look, clearly agreeing that he had wasted it.

"Tch! Are you looking down on me?" Xia Lingfeng shot her a look and retorted boisterously,

"Come on, let’s head back to Linji City first. I’ll grab some tea from my private collection for you to savor properly!"

Xiao Nianci suddenly fell silent, staring intently at Xia Lingfeng.

Xia Lingfeng started to feel a bit uncomfortable under her gaze. "Miss Xiao, why are you staring at me like that? Is there a Flower on my face?"

Xiao Nianci replied with suspicion in her voice, "Big-bearded Xia, this isn’t like you. And you’ve never been this familiar with me!

You always used to keep your distance whenever you saw me, but today, you’re acting incredibly strange!

That’s it. You’re acting so abnormally because you want to divert my attention!"

Before Xia Lingfeng could speak, she suddenly turned to the crowd and asked coolly, "Where is Chen Cheng?"
