Chapter 2605: Chapter 2597: Waiting for Someone

Feng Jun looked at Beauty Lin, who had an air of righteous assurance, and rolled his eyes helplessly, "Do you think I’ll agree?"

"You probably will," Beauty Lin blinked mischievously, "or else why didn’t you close the door?"

So you have a point too? Feng Jun snorted lightly, "I’ve been holding it in for several days, wanted to get some fresh air... Everyone knows you’re craving my body, trying to take advantage of me; should I agree? Also, be mindful of the influence you have, you represent your unit’s image, after all."

"I’ve already checked," Beauty Lin said indifferently, "Among the researchers, there’s a married couple and a pair of lovers living together. It was specially approved by the commander."

"You and I aren’t..." Feng Jun stopped halfway, not bothering to continue, as there were numerous recording devices on the warship, "You should go back, don’t make me annoyed."

Beauty Lin raised her hand, pushed forward, found the unseen barrier still there, blinked a few times in bewilderment, then turned around, lowered her head, and dragged her luggage away.

Feng Jun sipped his beer, watching the scene coldly—she was full of spirit when she arrived, yet quite despondent when leaving, seemingly greatly wronged, but he snorted through his nose, "Even a master of facial expressions."

He brought his own beer; although the room had a wine cabinet, it was mainly functional drinks, with a few bottles of red wine, two bottles of white wine, but no beer at all.

Anyway, after drinking a few cans, he raised a hand to collect the empty ones and kept drinking—as long as there weren’t many empty cans on the table, it didn’t look glaring. As for how he got the beer onto the warship, Feng Jun believed the commander wouldn’t ask.

Unknowingly, he drank seven or eight cans, collected the empty ones twice, then continued drinking.

Just then, footsteps came from outside the door, he glanced up to see Elder Gao had returned.

Elder Gao didn’t expect his room door to be open, was taken aback, and bowed to Feng Jun, "Hello."

"No need," Feng Jun stood up quickly, though he wasn’t keen on interacting, he nonetheless valued the traditional virtue of respecting elders, especially since Elder Gao wasn’t just older but genuinely held high regard and made significant contributions to Guojia.

So he respectfully clasped his hands, "Elder Gao, I’m truly undeserving of this."

"I’m thanking you for your contributions to Huaxia," Elder Gao spoke solemnly; he was one of the three in the fleet of over a thousand who lived alone, his access to information was unquestionable.

He even knew this mysterious person was quite hard to deal with. More than one person had advised him not to engage unless absolutely necessary and certainly avoid anything resembling provocation.

Thus, he’d labeled Feng Jun as "respectfully kept at a distance," yet unexpectedly found himself singing a segment on stage in front of everyone, only to watch helplessly as he sneaked away.

Choosing to sneak away meant the man wasn’t entirely unreasonable, then upon returning, he was surprised to find the door open, couldn’t help but want to probe a bit.

Finding Feng Jun’s response to be conventional, Elder Gao was pleased, he smiled and pointed at the table, "Where’d you get the beer? I’ll grab some too?"

Feng Jun paused and then smiled, waving his hand, "It’s all yours, where to get beer on this warship, that’s beyond me."

"No need, let’s sit and drink together," Elder Gao stepped into the room, speaking cheerily, "I’ve been wanting to have a chat with you for a while, but didn’t dare to disturb."

"Don’t keep using ’you, you,’ Elder Gao, I can’t handle it," Feng Jun laughed and waved his hand, "Sit down and drink."

A smiling face won’t get hit, even if he didn’t want to interact, under these circumstances, he couldn’t possibly speak harshly.

Of course, he didn’t act particularly enthusiastic either, even spoke sparingly, still subtly maintaining a "keep your distance" aloofness.

But Elder Gao didn’t seem to notice, he was completely focused on research, lacking in social skills; anyway, he adhered to confidentiality principles, and didn’t inquire about Feng Jun’s background, discussing different applications across the warship instead.

Different positions on the warship involved many considerations when addressed, yet the user manual didn’t explain much, especially when unexpectedly encountering unusual operations—like the One-Hand Magazine Change.

Although Feng Jun obtained a wealth of maintenance materials, it would take a decade or so to thoroughly comprehend all the repair data, and these materials didn’t encompass all design concepts.

Elder Gao wanted to discuss these insights with Feng Jun.

In fact, he didn’t even know Feng Jun’s full name or even his surname, but he knew this mysterious person was related to the warship’s origins, so he hoped to inquire more.

However, Feng Jun wasn’t quite clear on these design concepts either; he’d merely seen much of the warship’s utilization and maintenance.

So most of the time, he just hummed and hawed, conveying his ignorance, although when asked about something he knew, he wouldn’t hold back.

Unknowingly, they chatted for half an hour; Feng Jun internally wanted him to leave, but... that would be too impolite.

Interestingly, the duty officer in the surveillance room also noticed Elder Gao entering Feng Jun’s room—the monitoring inside Feng Jun’s room was turned off, but there was still surveillance in the corridor.

The duty officer initially thought it was a mistake, but unexpectedly, Elder Gao hadn’t come out for a long time after entering. After thinking for a moment, he reported the situation to the commander.

Upon hearing the news, the commander was a bit puzzled, "Haven’t come out for half an hour? Then I’ll go take a look."

Just as the commander was twenty meters away from the door, Feng Jun noticed someone was about to arrive. After hesitating a moment, he gathered his courage and called Beauty Lin using the internal intercom, "Are you in the room?"

However, the reply came from the female reporter, Sister Han, "Definitely in the room, Xiao Lin, the person from No. 2 in the A section is looking for you."

Soon after, Beauty Lin’s voice came over, "Boss, what’s up?"

Elder Gao’s question was halfway answered, but seeing him actually call someone else, he took a sip of beer with no expression on his face. However, he felt a bit unhappy inside; it felt quite disrespectful to be talking to someone and have them start doing something else.

Of course, he had no intention of acting out, as he knew very well that this person couldn’t be provoked casually.

Right after, the commander walked in, "Oh, why is this door not closed... Busy?"

The primary reason he came was to ensure Elder Gao’s safety. Secondly, he was pondering that if Feng Jun’s temper wasn’t that bad, he could extract more information.

Feng Jun didn’t even raise his head to look at him but instead continued speaking, "I’ve never closed this door, how come it’s taking so long to come?"

Beauty Lin was indeed sharp-minded. Upon hearing his words, she guessed some possibilities and casually replied, "Wait a moment, I’m packing my things."

The room was very quiet, and the commander and Elder Gao clearly heard the conversation between the two, only then realizing that Feng Jun had left the door open, waiting for a woman to come.

For such a thing to happen in the military march, it’s indeed a bit against the rules. However, the commander had learned beforehand that the lady who insisted on wearing skirts had also entered Feng Jun’s room, and neither of them belonged to the combat sequence, so he couldn’t intervene.

At the end of the day, these two were too difficult to provoke. Feng Jun is absolutely not to be offended, while the other, Miss Lin, had a slightly inferior status, but she was responsible for being a lubricant between Feng Jun and the fleet in case of unexpected situations.

Not to mention, arranging a dedicated liaison for Feng Jun alone shows that this guy’s temper can indeed be very bad.

As for the actual relationship between these two, the commander didn’t want to inquire deeply; he just chuckled, "Is that person planning... to move in?"

"It’s her who insists on moving over," Feng Jun answered helplessly, "She thinks the conditions here are a bit better, can it be adjusted?"

"Of course," the commander replied with a smile, "As long as you agree, how could I stop it? You two are both unmarried, so there aren’t any conduct issues."

If it were any other pair of men and women, he would surely say, "What exactly is your relationship, if you don’t explain clearly, I won’t arrange it, to prevent ruining our reputation"—that would be the proper response.

But facing Feng Jun, his requirements were dramatically lowered, and he proactively found the excuse of "you two are unmarried."

Elder Gao heard this and was also somewhat frustrated, so it turns out this guy kept the door open, waiting for a woman to come over. No wonder he was absent-minded while chatting.

However, the next moment, he remembered something more irritating and shook the beer in his hand, "There was beer on the ship, and you didn’t tell me?"

"Is there any beer?" The commander paused for a moment, his impression being that there wouldn’t be beer among the warship’s prepared travel supplies.

However, before the trip, there were so many various supplies, and the drill scale was suddenly changed. He couldn’t possibly remember all the supplies.

Thinking again about the rumored person, he figured the beer might not have come from the warship.

Thus, he could only respond ambiguously, "I’ll find out about the beer situation, but honestly, this stuff is not bladder-friendly and adds to the processing burden of recycling water... Red wine is more preferable."

Elder Gao understood entirely from these words—he’s sitting right here, and you’re not even asking where the beer came from, instead opting to find out yourself, is this guy really that intimidating?

Just at that moment, there came a rolling sound from far to near, Beauty Lin appeared at the door, dragging a suitcase.

The commander glanced at her and asked calmly, "Switching rooms?"

"Yes," Beauty Lin nodded. She had no psychological pressure when teasing Feng Jun, but being asked so directly made her somewhat embarrassed, "The person I’m rooming with, Sister Han, suffers from a bit of nervous prostration, hoping to live alone."
