Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis
Chapter 310: Daily Life on Candle Island
(A transitional chapter to fill in some details.)
After several days, the players had pretty much figured out the basics of the Mysterious High Platform and Box in the House dungeons.
The players then shifted their focus to the dynamic storyline that followed the Mysterious High Platform.
Gathering ten players who had cleared the Mysterious High Platform was no simple task.
Within the Mysterious High Platform, neither Fission Scream nor Elegy of Death were easy to deal with…
Day broke once again, and most players had already gotten up for school or work.
However, with the steadily increasing number of players, Candle Island didn’t seem particularly deserted during the day.
Recently, quite a few people had noticed a rather peculiar female player on Candle Island.
“Hi there! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime.”
“Exile Island? It’s over that way. Spirit Candle has a Teleportation function now. I’d suggest you save up some Wax Oil first before you go. Once you get to Exile Island, just touch the Milestone Spirit Candle, and you’ll be able to enter the solo dungeon…”
“Oh, that’s not right. Buying a Spirit Fire Raft is still essential. Some dungeons, like the Jinghai Islands and Sea Zone One, absolutely require one…”
“What do ‘Prison Guard’ and ‘brick-hauling’ mean?”
“‘Prison Guard’ refers to farming Wax Oil from the Rotting Prisoners in the prison on Exile Island. You can look up guides for it on the forums…”
“‘Brick-hauling’ refers to a specific farming method: after igniting the Foul-smelling Firework Fire Seed at the well in Kasa City State, you then go to the Gael’s Swamp Snake Nest to farm Wax Oil…”
“Demon Summoner? If you chose the Demon Summoner class, you’ll have to kill monsters to farm Magic Pearls first. Just follow the Skill Explanation for Demon Pearl Condensation…”
“You can use Wax Oil to raise your Level. It’s also the common currency among us players and can be used to buy items…”
“Oh? No need to thank me. I’m just glad I could help.”
“Mhm, goodbye.”
By the Reef Cave on Candle Island, a female player with the ID “Wowor” was tirelessly and patiently explaining one question after another to the new players.
This female player was affectionately called “Sister Wowo” by many of the new players.
As the number of Spirit Candle Players grew each day, so too did the number of problems they encountered.
And while the Spirit Candle Forum had plenty of guides written by the Prison Players, some of which were aimed specifically at beginners, anyone who plays games knows that in some of them, you can still run into baffling problems even when following a guide.
For example, how to use Battle Ash, how to trade with people, how to upgrade the Spirit Fire Raft…
Some of the more stubborn players might get stuck on a seemingly insignificant problem for a long time.
And the guides written by the Prison Players obviously couldn’t cover every single detail.
When Wo Wo first started playing the game, she ran into many of these same problems. Fortunately, most players were quite friendly and were happy to answer her questions.
But, as anyone who regularly plays Spirit Candle knows…
As a Candle Spirit, if you want to raise your Tier and Level and find good equipment and weapons, you can’t just stand around. You have to run dungeons, so all the players are busy beyond belief.
Naturally, that meant there was almost no one specifically dedicated to helping newbies with their problems.
It was under these circumstances that Wo Wo decided to take on that role herself, specifically to answer all kinds of questions for the new players.
And she was both patient and persistent.
For the past two weeks, she had logged on and off at the same time every day, her schedule more regular than that of the Candlekeeper, an actual NPC…
This led many players to mistake her for Spirit Candle’s Candle Guardian Witch…
In reality, however, the true Candle Guardian Witch, Noxia, was still completely clueless about terms like “Prison Guard,” “brick-hauling,” and “Lao Ba.” She had no idea what they meant, let alone being able to answer questions for new players…
Although Wo Wo’s actions clearly didn’t align with Luo Ge’s intentions for summoning the players, Luo Ge had no thought of deleting her account.
He was actually thrilled to have such a player around; it saved him from that bunch of newbies clamoring for him all day long.
“Oh… so that’s how it is…”
After Wo Wo’s explanation, one of the new players had a moment of realization. He then looked at her curiously and asked a question.
“Sister Wowo, you’re here every day answering everyone’s questions. Don’t you get bored?”
“Not at all,” Wo Wo said, shaking her head with a smile. “I’m happy just being able to help everyone.”
“Besides, every time I see you guys come back to Candle Island with new gear and new weapons, I feel a sort of nurturing joy. Haha.”
It was true. Some of the players who had initially gathered around Wo Wo, completely clueless and asking all sorts of questions, had now grown and grinded their way to the mid-tier.
“Oh, I see…” The new player scratched his head and added, “But I saw a post on the forums… Someone said you were actually too scared by the Lighthouse Keeper in Seaside Town…”
His words made Wo Wo’s expression freeze. A nearby player, seeing things were going south, quickly shoved him away with a Kun Fist Iron Mountain Lean.
“Hey, hey, what nonsense are you spouting, newbie? Scram.”
Wo Wo didn’t get angry, though. Instead, she just gave a slightly embarrassed laugh.
“…He’s not wrong, actually. I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat; I don’t have the guts to fight those monsters…”
“But I’m really interested in the game’s story. If you all have time when you get back from your dungeons, I’d love it if you could tell me about them…”
“Don’t worry, Sister Wowo. No problem!”
Hearing this, the other new players immediately began patting their chests in assurance.
…
Of course, Wo Wo wasn’t the only unusual player out there.
