[BL] After SSS-rank mage reborn as the Legendary Craftsman
Chapter 51: He Looks So Clueless!
Every time he recalled the death of the black dragon, Kei felt a sharp pain in his chest so intense that he could barely breathe.
Some nights, he just wanted to hide under the covers, curl up, and cry like a child. But the tears rarely came. The pain had lingered for too long, so long that it no longer erupted, it simply lay deep in his heart and occasionally gnawed at him from within.
Twenty years together, he had personally raised that dragon from an egg, watched it grow past the hatchling stage, and stayed by its side as a close companion.
In the end, all that remained in Kei’s hands was a body growing cold and a pair of golden eyes looking at him one last time.
Because of a wretched human like Kei, that little dragon had sacrificed its own life to get Kei out of the Mist Forest. It should have been... it should have been him who died!
Later, when he had become a world-renowned SSS-rank mage, Kei returned to the Mist Forest with the determination to take revenge on those two monsters.
He had prepared more thoroughly than for any expedition before. Inside his space ring were forbidden-level magic scrolls—a level above even the legendary SSS tier, countless healing potions, and precious magical items. Kei thought that with his current power, he could at least kill the two monsters that had taken his little dragon from him.
But he was wrong.
Two weeks after venturing deep into the Mist Forest, Kei walked out of the woods with a battered body. His robe was scorched, dried blood covered his arms, and several ribs were broken. The forbidden-level magic scrolls he had brought were all used up.
Yet those two monsters were still alive, all of Kei’s efforts had only resulted in both sides being severely wounded before retreating.
Kei stood outside the forest, staring at the thick, churning mist before him. From deep within, strange howls still echoed out, as if mocking his efforts.
"I’m too weak. In the end, I was too complacent with this title of legendary mage."
Kei muttered, his hand clenching so tightly that his nails dug deep into his palm, yet he felt no pain at all.
In the end, Kei never set foot in the Mist Forest again. Before leaving, he had used forbidden magic to seal the dragon’s nest where he had buried the little dragon’s remains, no mage in that world could ever undo this spell of his.
So that his little dragon could sleep in peace without anyone disturbing it.
That was the end of Kei and the little dragon in his old world.
"What’s wrong, Kei?"
A hoarse yet somewhat naive voice sounded beside him.
Kai sat there, tilting his body to look at him. His slightly disheveled black hair and golden eyes shimmered in the faint light. He scooted closer, then threw himself right next to Kei as if being even a little bit away from him would mean missing something very important.
Kei frozen.
Those eyes were far too similar to the little dragon’s.
So similar that his heart instantly softened, then ached as if someone were squeezing it tightly. The gold in Kai’s eyes was still clear and innocent, to Kei, it was no different from the eyes of the little dragon from years ago.
This couldn’t possibly be just a coincidence. In this world, how could there be another Black Dragon so identical to his little dragon?
Kei had often heard mages and sages in the magic tower discuss reincarnation and transmigration, it had always been a vague concept to him, until Kei fell into another world.
What if the little dragon’s soul, like Kei’s, had gotten lost in a space tunnel and ended up in this world?
If Kai truly had some connection to his black dragon...
Kei looked down at the person sitting beside him, looking completely bewildered.
Then this time, he absolutely had to protect him well, even if Kei was now just a Craftsman with no combat ability at all.
"Kei? Why aren’t you saying anything?"
Kai tilted his head, his eyes full of confusion.
Kei looked at his clueless expression and suddenly felt a little worried. Why does this person look so stupid?
He was about to ask more but suddenly remembered Kai’s current condition. Despite carrying the power of the Black Dragon, he didn’t seem like an ordinary SS-rank hunter at all. His way of speaking, his reactions, and even his ability to take care of himself all seemed off.
Kei turned his head toward the warehouse door. He needed to find the people around Kai in this world; only they would know about him well.
"Ms. Do Ae Young, could you come in here for a moment?"
Outside, Do Ae Young was happily chatting with Kim Sora. Hearing the call, she immediately stopped and walked inside.
The moment she saw Kai almost leaning entirely against Kei, Do Ae Young’s eyes widened slightly. She quickly hid her surprise, but inwardly she couldn’t help feeling taken aback.
It was rare to see Kai being so close to someone like that.
Normally, that fool only knew how to brag about his strength, hoard his gold and silver, and pester people one after another. Yet in front of Kei, he was so docile he practically clung to him.
"What’s the matter, Mr. Kei?"
Do Ae Young asked with a smile.
Kei didn’t answer right away. He reached out and grabbed Kai by the collar, making him sit up straight beside him. Kai didn’t resist either, just blinked at Kei with full trust.
Kai looked so unfamiliar that Do Ae Young had to tell herself not to show too much expression, to stay calm, and not to make Kei think they were a bunch of weirdos like Kai.
Kei looked at Kai’s blank face one more time, then asked in a low voice:
"What’s wrong with him?"
He tightened his grip on Kai’s collar, his gaze turning serious.
"He doesn’t look right at all."
Why does he look so stupid!
