Chapter 78: Breath of the Black Dragon

Do Ae Young ran while gritting her teeth, lightning coiling around her arm, knocking back the Skeleton units charging toward her. But the moment one fell, the shattered bone fragments trembled and quickly reassembled into their original form.

Behind her, Do Ae Min and the other Black Dragon Guild members were struggling to hold their ground as well. They had been fighting for thirty minutes, yet the S-rank Skeleton army showed no signs of dwindling.

Do Ae Young turned her gaze toward the sky. Up there, Kai was facing off against a high-ranking SS-rank Lich. His Black Dragon form continuously circled through the dark clouds, each swing of his claws tearing through wave after wave of undead magic.

But the Lich was no easy opponent either. Its dense black bones were covered in glowing purple lines, streams of deathly magic energy pouring out endlessly, summoning more Skeletons from the ground.

"Disgusting pest!" Kai roared. "You dare waste my time when I need to go find Kei!"

The Lich let out a hoarse laugh. Its hollow eye sockets blazed with blue flames.

"Your master has already been taken by this world. Soon, you too will become a dragon skeleton like me."

"What did you say?"

Kai’s golden eyes instantly narrowed, his mind reeling, unable to comprehend the Boss’s words.

"I said you will never find him. And sooner or later, he will belong to... #%&%&!"

The final name the Lich spoke was somehow distorted, incomprehensible.

The air around the Black Dragon suddenly grew heavy. The clouds were crushed by an invisible force, and the wind in the sky turned chaotic.

Do Ae Young saw the sight and her expression changed.

"Kai!" she shouted. "Don’t let it provoke you! Focus on the Boss!"

"I am very focused!"

Kai opened his mouth, revealing sharp fangs. Black magic energy swirled deep in his throat, growing denser and denser.

The Lich raised its bone staff high.

"Army of the dead, crush him!"

The ground shook. Hundreds of Skeletons simultaneously launched toward the sky, their bony arms stacking on top of one another to form a massive tower. From above, the Lich unleashed countless death arrows, covering every escape route Kai had.

Kai did not dodge.

He spread his wings wide, lowering his head to stare down at the Boss standing amid the sea of bones.

"Alright."

The Black Dragon’s voice echoed throughout the Dungeon.

"It’s time to end this."

Kai took a deep breath.

In that instant, all the air around him seemed to be sucked into his body. The wind stopped blowing. The blades of grass lay flat against the ground. Even the Skeletons charging toward him froze, as if instinct warned them to flee.

Do Ae Young’s eyes widened. She knew exactly what Kai was about to do, and immediately pulled Do Ae Min’s head down while yelling at those behind her:

"Get down low!"

Kai lowered his head, then unleashed his dragon breath.

Boom!

A colossal black flame instantly engulfed the sky. It did not burn in the ordinary sense but rather poured down like an abyss crashing onto the ground, crushing everything in its path. The death arrows vanished the moment they touched the stream of fire. The tower formed by over a hundred Skeletons disintegrated into ash.

The Lich hastily erected layer upon layer of magic shields.

"Impossible! How can an SS-rank dragon possess such power?"

If Moon Ae Young were here, she probably would have felt pity and sympathy for this Lich—the truth was, among those of SS rank, there really were individuals this absurdly strong.

Layer after layer of shields shattered.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The dragon breath struck straight into the ground. The Lich’s body was forced to its knees, its black bone segments trembling violently. The black flame washed over its skeleton, burning through every strand of magic energy sustaining its existence.

"No! I am an immortal Lich! I cannot die here!"

Kai pulled back his dragon breath, beat his wings hard, and dove down.

The Lich raised its head. It barely caught sight of the massive dark shadow descending before its eyes.

"You talk too much."

Kai opened his mouth, lowered his head, and bit straight into the Boss’s black skull.

Crack!

The sound of bone breaking rang out clearly through the Dungeon.Kai gritted his teeth hard, crushing the skull into countless fragments. The blue flame in the Lich’s eye sockets went out. Immediately after, its entire body collapsed, turning into a pile of lifeless bones.

The moment the Boss died, the remaining Skeleton units all stopped at once.

Then, one by one, they dissolved into black particles of light, falling to the ground like ashes.

Do Ae Young leaned on her sword, gasping for breath. The members of the Black Dragon Guild also flopped down one after another, none of them having the strength left to maintain their usual imposing appearance.

"Finally... it’s over..."

Do Ae Min lay on her back on the ground, her arms and legs spread wide like a boiled chicken split open.

"I swear, from now on, if I see a Skeleton, I’ll turn around and run."

"If you dare run away in the middle of a fight with the whole team, I’ll break your legs myself."

Do Ae Young spoke while breathing heavily. But just a few seconds later, she suddenly jolted.

"Where’s Kai?"

No one answered.

She turned her head and looked up at the sky. There was no sign of the Black Dragon. Only the dark clouds slowly dispersed.

"Kai?"

Do Ae Young immediately sat up with a start.

"Kai!"

She looked around, her face gradually turning pale. Kai had disappeared at some point, without leaving a single word.

"That’s impossible..."

Do Ae Min sat up, dazed, and asked:

"What’s wrong, sis?"

Do Ae Young didn’t answer. She stood up abruptly, her voice trembling with panic.

"What are you all still sitting there for?"

"But we just finished fighting the Boss..."

"Hurry up!" Do Ae Young shouted. "Go find Kai now! Head to the teleport gate and look for him!"

The members of the Black Dragon Guild exchanged glances, then immediately got to their feet. No one dared to delay any longer.
