Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Will You Be Mine Forever?
"Go get your man," Vanessa said with a grin, waving him off as she headed home.
Elisha got into the car beside his driver. Once everything was loaded, they drove straight back to Henry’s house, ready to set up the surprise he had spent the entire afternoon planning.
As soon as he entered, he found the two housekeepers.
"Go outside and meet my driver," Elisha instructed with an excited smile. "He’ll tell you what to do."
The housekeepers nodded and hurried toward the entrance.
Elisha quickly took the stairs and headed to Henry’s bedroom. He gently pushed the door open and found Henry still lying comfortably in bed.
"Hey, pretty. I’m back," Elisha said, unable to hide his excitement.
Henry lifted his head from the pillows and narrowed his eyes slightly. "Where did you go?"
"I told you," Elisha replied smoothly as he walked over to the bed. "I went to meet a client. He’s flying out of the country tomorrow morning, so I had to rush over for an urgent meeting."
Henry gave a soft, unconvinced hum. "Alright. But you said we’re going out later. Are we still doing that?"
"Of course," Elisha said as he walked closer to the bed. "Have you showered yet?"
Henry gave him a flat look. "I haven’t showered because I already took one this morning, Elisha."
"Well, you should take another shower," Elisha said gently, stepping closer. "I brought a special outfit for you, and I really want to see you wear it tonight for our date."
Henry groaned and pulled the blanket higher. "What? I already told you I’m clean. Do you want me to turn into a fish or something? Why are you so obsessed with making me bathe again?"
"Please, pretty? Just take another shower for me." Elisha gave him a cute, pleading smile.
Henry studied his face for a long moment, a playful glare in his eyes. "You’re acting way too suspicious. Tell me the truth, you didn’t go out and do something stupid, did you?"
"No, pretty, I swear. Trust me," Elisha said with a nervous laugh. "Now go on. Get up and take a quick shower."
Henry rolled his eyes dramatically and threw off the duvet. "Fine. Help me up, you tyrant."
Elisha chuckled and reached down to help him up from the bed. Henry grumbled under his breath as he walked toward the ensuite bathroom and pulled the door shut behind him.
The moment the bathroom door clicked shut, Elisha turned around and hurried to the bedroom door. He pulled it open, and the two housekeepers were already waiting in the hallway with the surprise items.
"Bring everything in, quickly and quietly," Elisha whispered.
The staff quickly moved into the bedroom while Elisha directed them where to place everything. They brought in three sets of floating metallic balloons, elegant boxes of chocolates, a large teddy bear, and a massive arrangement of crimson roses. Rose petals were scattered across the white bed and around the room, while smaller floral arrangements were placed nearby, transforming the bedroom into a romantic surprise.
As they placed the final decorations, Henry moved around inside the bathroom.
"Elisha?" Henry’s muffled voice came through over the sound of running water. "Are you still in the room? I can hear people talking out there. Are you alone?"
"Yes, pretty," Elisha quickly replied.
"But I heard voices," Henry said suspiciously. "Are you sure you’re alone?"
Elisha’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly gestured for one of the housekeepers to move toward the door.
"Yes, baby! I’m alone, just talking on the phone!"
"Oh... alright," Henry replied, his voice fading beneath the sound of the shower.
A few minutes later, the housekeepers finished setting everything up and quietly slipped out of the room, closing the door behind them.
Elisha let out a relieved breath as he looked around the beautifully decorated bedroom. Everything was ready. All he had to do now was wait for Henry.
A moment later, the shower stopped. The bathroom door opened, and Henry stepped out with a towel wrapped around his waist. He stopped the moment he saw the room.
The bedroom he had left a few minutes ago looked completely different.
Henry blinked and stared around in disbelief. Balloons filled the room, roses covered the bed, and rose petals were scattered across the floor. A huge teddy bear sat beside the pillows, with boxes of chocolates arranged nearby.
"Eli..." Henry breathed, his voice filled with surprise.
Then he noticed the neatly folded white shirt placed on the edge of the bed.
Henry stood there for a moment, taking everything in. He had not expected any of this. The stress and exhaustion he had been carrying all day disappeared as he looked around the room.
Elisha stepped toward him with a soft smile. "Sit down on the bed, pretty," he said gently.
Henry slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. He was still trying to take in everything around him when Elisha stepped closer and gently took the towel from around his waist.
"Let me help you get ready, pretty."
Elisha carefully dried Henry’s hair with the towel before picking up the hair dryer and blowing it dry. Once his hair was dry, Elisha helped Henry stand and slipped the white shirt over his head, gently helping him into it.
"Alright. Sit down again," Elisha said softly.
Henry sat back down on the bed, still staring at Elisha in complete disbelief.
Elisha reached over to a small table beside the bed, where several cream-colored cards had been neatly arranged. He picked one up and held it out to Henry.
Henry took the card, his fingers trembling slightly. He looked at the card for a moment before glancing up at Elisha.
"Open it," Elisha said gently.
Henry looked down at the card again. His fingers slowly opened it, and his eyes fell on the words written inside.
WILL YOU BE MY BOYFRIEND?
He stared at the words, his eyes filling with tears. A tear slipped down his cheek, and a bright smile appeared on his face.
He looked up at Elisha, then back at the card, his heart filled with emotion. He could hardly believe Elisha had gone through all this just to make him feel loved and give him the kind of romantic beginning they had never had.
Elisha stepped forward and carefully picked up the large bouquet of one thousand crimson roses. He held it out to Henry.
"Pretty," Elisha began, his voice slightly shaky. "I know I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes, and I know I rushed things between us. When our families brought up the wedding, I saw it as an opportunity to make sure I wouldn’t lose you, and I let myself get carried away without stopping to ask if you truly wanted it too. I forgot to slow down and give us the chance to experience love and courtship the way we should have, at your own pace. I listened to advice, I pushed too fast, and I know I should have handled things differently and let us make that decision together."
He adjusted the bouquet in his arms, keeping his eyes on Henry. "I’m sorry I didn’t give us the chance to let things happen...
