Chapter 118: Chapter 118: You Will Never Come Between Us

~Third- POV~

From the floor, Eva’s face turned ghostly pale. Humiliation, shock, and bitter disappointment washed over her as she watched Frederick hold Reynold with such fierce, protective love.

"Frederick!" Eva screamed, pushing herself up from the floor as blood dripped from her palm. "Is this really how you treat your wife?! The mother of your child?!"

Frederick slowly turned toward her. The warmth vanished from his eyes, replaced by a cold, terrifying glare.

"You were never my wife," Frederick corrected her, his voice low, sharp, and brutally clear. "And you certainly haven’t been a mother to Lily. You’re simply the woman who gave birth to my daughter. For years, I hoped you would become the mother Lily deserved, but I can no longer keep pretending you will."

Eva stumbled back, her voice trembling. "Frederick, please... I—"

"Do yourself a favor and leave me alone," Frederick cut in coldly, his expression devoid of mercy. "While you were busy putting on your little performance in this office, everything you did was being shown live on the monitors in the boardroom. The journalists witnessed you forcing your way in here, bullying Reynold, verbally abusing him, and slapping him. Everyone in that room now knows exactly what you did, Eva. Don’t push your luck any further."

Eva’s eyes widened in horror as the reality of what she had done sank in. The journalists had witnessed everything. Her attempt to frame Reynold had failed, and she had only exposed her own cruel behavior in front of people who could make her actions public.

"No... no, Frederick, please!" Eva burst into tears, stumbling forward with her bleeding hand outstretched. "I’m sorry! Please, Frederick, don’t do this to me! I was just angry. I didn’t mean it! Please!"

Frederick didn’t flinch. He remained unmoved by her tears and made no attempt to comfort her. Instead, he stepped in front of Reynold, shielding him from Eva, and pulled out his phone.

"Security," Frederick commanded coldly into his phone. "Get up to my executive office immediately. There’s a trespasser."

He ended the call and slipped his phone back into his pocket.

Within moments, the heavy double doors opened, and four security guards in dark suits entered the office.

"Mr. Corvin," the lead guard greeted him, his eyes briefly taking in the shattered crystal vase on the floor and Eva’s frantic appearance.

"Take her," Frederick ordered, pointing toward Eva.

The guards immediately moved forward. Two of them took hold of Eva’s arms as she struggled to pull away.

"Let go of me! Leave me alone, you fools!" Eva snapped, trying to shake off their grip.

"Miss Eva, please cooperate," one of the guards said firmly.

"Frederick, no! Please! Listen to me!" she cried, struggling as the guards escorted her toward the door.

Frederick watched without the slightest trace of sympathy. Once the guards had secured her, he turned to the lead guard, his expression cold and authoritative.

"Listen carefully. Make sure every security post and entrance is informed that Eva Hartley is no longer permitted to enter this building, my estate, or any Corvin property. If she shows up again, do not let her in. Contact me immediately."

"Yes, Mr. Corvin. Understood, sir!" the lead guard replied firmly.

"Frederick, please!" Eva sobbed as the guards dragged her through the double doors. Her desperate cries echoed down the executive hallway until they finally faded into silence.

With the doors firmly closed, the tension in the office began to ease, leaving only the sound of Reynold’s shaky breathing.

Frederick turned to him immediately. The cold, commanding expression he had worn moments earlier disappeared, replaced by concern.

"Come here, baby," Frederick murmured, stepping forward and opening his broad arms.

Reynold didn’t hesitate. He stepped straight into Frederick’s embrace, burying his face in the crook of his neck. His slender shoulders trembled as the adrenaline from the confrontation finally wore off, leaving him clinging to the comfort and safety of Frederick’s arms.

Frederick wrapped his arms tightly around Reynold’s waist, lifting him slightly to press his small frame against his chest. He stroked the back of Reynold’s hair, murmuring sweet, possessive praises into his ear. "I’m here, sweetheart. You’re safe. Daddy’s right here."

Reynold nodded against Frederick’s chest, holding him tightly.

After holding him for a while, Frederick gently drew back and placed his hands on Reynold’s shoulders so he could look at his face.

His expression darkened when he noticed the red handprint across Reynold’s cheek. The skin was already beginning to swell from the slap.

Frederick clenched his jaw. He raised a hand and carefully brushed his thumb against Reynold’s cheek, his touch so gentle that he barely grazed the sore skin.

"Does it hurt much, my love?" he asked, his deep voice thick with restrained anger and concern.

"A little bit..." Reynold admitted softly. His eyes shimmered with unshed tears as he leaned into Frederick’s warm palm. "It just stings."

"Stay right here on the sofa for me," Frederick said gently, kissing the tip of Reynold’s nose before standing up.

He walked swiftly to the private kitchenette attached to his office. Less than a minute later, he returned with an ice pack wrapped in a soft handkerchief to protect Reynold’s skin from the cold.

Frederick sat down close beside Reynold on the plush leather couch, pulling him onto his lap so Reynold was straddling his thighs, facing him. Reynold wrapped his legs around Frederick’s waist and rested his hands on Frederick’s shoulders, feeling entirely cherished.

Gently, Frederick pressed the wrapped ice pack against Reynold’s swollen cheek.

Reynold flinched at the initial chill and let out a soft gasp. "Ah..."

"Shh, I know, baby. Just hold still for Daddy," Frederick whispered. He held the ice pack against Reynold’s cheek with one hand while resting the other against his lower back.

Reynold closed his eyes and rested his forehead against Frederick’s shoulder as the cold began to ease the stinging pain.

"You were incredible today, Reynold," Frederick murmured. "You stood your ground. You didn’t let her break you, and you spoke with so much grace and intelligence. I’ve never been prouder of you."

Reynold looked up at him, then lowered his gaze to his hands. "Baby, are you not angry that I spoke to her like that?"

"Not at all, sweetheart." Frederick smiled softly and kissed his forehead.

"You know, Daddy, I was scared at first..." Reynold admitted. "But I kept remembering what you told me. I knew you would protect me, and I wanted her to know that I love you."

Frederick’s heart swelled with affection. He slowly pulled the ice pack away, setting it on the coffee table, and replaced it with his lips.

He began to shower Reynold’s cheek with soft, reverent kisses, starting from his jawline, moving up to the reddened cheek, his temple, and then his eyelids. Each kiss was filled with an overwhelming, passionate devotion, silently apologizing for the hurt Reynold had endured.

"I love you, Reynold," Frederick murmured softly against his skin, his breath warm against Reynold’s lips. "You mean so much to me, sweetheart. No one will ever lay a hand on you again, I swear it to you."

Reynold’s heart fluttered, and a deep blush spread down his neck. He leaned forward and kissed Frederick, slipping his fingers into the hair at the back of his neck.

Frederick returned the kiss, his hands resting securely around Reynold’s waist. For a few moments, neither of them seemed eager to pull away, their kiss carrying all the affection and reassurance they couldn’t put into words.

When they finally parted, Reynold rested his chin on Frederick’s shoulder, a breathless smile touching his lips.

"I love you too, Daddy," Reynold whispered, wrapping his arms around Frederick’s neck. "You’re always so good to me. You make me feel loved, safe, and cherished in ways I never knew I could. You’re my everything, Frederick, and I’m so lucky to have you."
