Chapter 146: 146: DISGUISE

"What’s he doing here...?" Grey was beyond confused. He sat there in the car, watching as Syll walked out of the laboratory.

They all sat in the car watching as Ryan asked, "Do you know him...?"

There was silence. Grey didn’t even know what to respond with. He was still trying to digest the sight before him along with what June had told him earlier.

"Let’s follow him," June said firmly as they turned to stare at him. "He should be of help."

Grey didn’t question it. He simply turned the car around as they followed Syll to wherever he was heading.

Syll was heading toward where he had parked his car when another car suddenly pulled over beside him.

Confused and alert, he turned to see who it was. At that moment, he was rather surprised to see June and Grey getting out of the car and approaching him.

"You..." Syll’s expression went pale as he stared at him. "What are you..." He couldn’t even complete his words.

June folded his arms with a smile as they approached him. "Nice to meet you here... I guess the world really is a small place."

Syll’s attention shifted to Grey, who was staring at him without a word. He could see the confusion in his eyes, and he clearly needed answers.

"If you don’t mind..." June smiled as he stared at him. "We’d like to have a quick chat with you. If it’s okay with you..."

Syll stared at Grey. He wanted to reject them, but he couldn’t bring himself to do so.

And the next minute, he was sitting in Grey’s car in the passenger seat beside Grey, while June and the rest sat in the back.

"So... let’s get straight to the point." June smiled at Syll. "Mr. Kevin is holding our friend down in there... at least, we believe he is. And I think you might actually have an idea about that."

"So we want your help. Help us get in there. You don’t have to help us fight or anything. Just help us break in."

Syll sat there quietly, staring ahead. He had no words as he listened to June speak. And after he was done, Grey spoke up.

"How close are you to him?" Grey asked. "How close are you to Mr. Kevin?"

Grey wouldn’t have been this suspicious if this had happened a while back. He wouldn’t have been too bothered by seeing Syll going to meet Mr. Kevin. After all, most organizations had to meet with him from time to time for various matters since he was an official.

But after what June had said, Grey couldn’t help but believe that something else was happening. He couldn’t help but think that Syll and Mr. Kevin might actually be collaborators in some way.

And given the fact that he hated Mr. Kevin, he wouldn’t be happy in the slightest if that was true.

Syll remained calm. "You don’t need to know that..." he said to Grey. "It’s my business."

"And..." Syll added, referring to June, "I’m not interested in assisting anyone at the moment. I’m too busy for that," he said firmly.

June smiled. "Is that so...?"

He knew Syll was the only one who could help them get inside at that moment, and he knew he had to get him on board.

"I know you hate him," June said. "And I know you’re aware of what he’s doing to Nyx."

June added, "I don’t want you to believe that you’re happy about that either. You’re different from him... and you don’t mean any of these words you’re saying."

"And who do you think you are to dictate who I am and what I’m like?" Syll said. "You don’t know me at all..."

"But I know something you don’t want people knowing," June said.

He had to resort to his last choice: blackmail.

"And you can trust me enough to let him know about that. I’d like to see how that goes."

Syll turned to meet June’s gaze. "Are you blackmailing me?"

June smiled. "Of course I am. So, what do you say?"

Syll stared at him for a while. "I won’t bother you to join my guild anymore. I believe that should do. So you can leave me, okay?"

He was about to turn and push the door open.

But June knew he had to strike again.

"If you take us in and we save him... I promise to join your guild along with Nyx."

Silence.

Ryan, Simon, and Kael stared at June in surprise. Even Grey was surprised. They guessed June was really that desperate to resort to this.

Syll paused and stared at him. Silence lingered in the atmosphere for a while before Syll finally turned and pushed open the door.

They watched him leave, figuring that they might have failed to convince him.

But as soon as Syll stepped down from the car, he said, "How do you plan on getting in there if you’re going to glue your asses to the car?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

"....."

They stared at each other before looking at Syll in surprise.

June and Ryan smiled. They guessed it had worked.

Syll had agreed to help them get inside.

To get in, they at least needed a disguise, and Syll had everything prepared and arranged for them.

Soon, they were standing in front of the security men. Syll and Grey didn’t need any disguises; they came as themselves, as members of the Red Dust Guild.

Meanwhile, June, Ryan, Simon, and Kael had their eyes covered enough that no one could properly recognize them. Their hands were also bound in chains, enough to convince anyone that they were captives.

As they stood right before the entrance, the two security men stared at each other before looking at them.

"This is..." one of them asked.

"They’re new intakes for future experiments," Syll casually said in an aloof manner. "Mr. Kevin requested that they be brought in."

The security men were skeptical as they stared at each other.

"We should confirm..." one of them tried to say.

"Are you doubting me?" Syll’s expression darkened as he glared at them. "How dare you doubt me? Do you want to lose your jobs?"

They swallowed and quickly shook their heads.

"Sorry, Young Master..." they said. "You can go in."

Without further questions, they opened the entrance for them as Syll and his companions made their way into the laboratory building.
