Chapter 215: 215: INFORMATION WORTH IT [VOL.4].
By the time Nyx was discharged from the hospital, he suggested to June that they go and meet Syll.
June had already discussed with Nyx what his vision might mean and explained that there was a good chance the strange dungeon everyone was talking about could somehow be connected to something within the academy. After hearing this, Nyx recommended that they inform Syll immediately after his discharge, and June had agreed.
Simon, Ryan, and Kael joined them as well, having been briefed about the situation on their way.
They were heading toward the Red Dust Guild when they received the news that Syll and Grey weren’t around. The two had gone to attend a meeting with some government officials, as discussions and investigations into the strange dungeon were still ongoing.
"Let’s go and meet them there," Kael suggested. "It’s better if the government is involved, too. The more people who know about this, the better."
Everyone agreed with his suggestion, and they made their way to the government office where the meeting was taking place.
---
June and the others soon arrived at their destination. They stood before the entrance to the meeting room, which was guarded by security personnel, and requested permission to see those inside.
At first, the security men turned them down, explaining that an important meeting was underway and that they weren’t allowed to disturb the people inside.
However, June insisted that they had important information regarding the strange dungeon. Upon hearing this, one of the security men went inside to inform the people at the meeting.
A short while later, they were summoned into the room.
The five of them entered the meeting hall, a spacious room with a large rectangular table in the middle. Government officials and important members of the Red Dust Guild were gathered around it, engaged in a serious discussion.
It was clearly an important meeting, and as soon as June and his group walked in, everyone paused and turned to look at them.
Grey raised an eyebrow, as did Syll. The two exchanged glances before turning their attention to June and the others, who had come to stand before the table.
The Minister, who was seated among the officials, smiled when he recognized their familiar faces. "I was told you have some important information to share with us. Something concerning the dungeon case we’ve all been so occupied with."
June nodded. "Yes, exactly. We’ve discovered something important that we believe you need to know and investigate further. It might be of great help to the case."
The Minister nodded in response. "Then don’t hold back. Tell us everything you know."
June hesitated briefly before turning to Nyx. Nyx nodded, giving him permission to explain the situation on his behalf.
With that, June turned back to the people gathered around the table and began, "We’re all aware of Nyx’s abilities. It’s no secret that even though he’s an F-rank Esper, he possesses skills that rival those of an S-rank, or even an S-Ultra."
He paused before continuing, "On that basis, I’m here to share a vision he experienced. A vision that may be connected to the dungeon."
His words immediately caught everyone’s attention. They exchanged glances, and a few began murmuring among themselves before turning back to June.
"Very well. Tell us what he saw," the Minister said.
June proceeded to explain the details of Nyx’s vision, recounting everything Nyx could remember seeing.
As he narrated the experience, the room fell into stunned silence. It was a shocking revelation, and soon enough, whispers and murmurs began spreading among the people gathered there.
At the very least, this was the first major clue they had received in their investigation. It was certainly worth looking into, especially since the information came from someone like Nyx, whose abilities had already been proven.
Once June finished explaining, he added, "...And that’s why we’re here. I believe it’s important that we take action and investigate this further before something else happens. We thought it best to bring this information to you so we can work toward uncovering the truth."
Murmurs filled the room as everyone exchanged opinions and considered the revelation. Even Syll and Grey looked at each other, clearly taken aback by what they had just heard.
After a moment, the Minister nodded thoughtfully. "This is certainly worth investigating. But how can we be a hundred percent sure before committing our resources to it?"
He leaned back in his chair, considering the matter carefully. "At the moment, this is still a vision that Nyx himself finds vague and unclear. What if the place he saw isn’t the academy but somewhere else entirely?"
The Minister continued, "I don’t want to send my troops to the academy without a good reason. It wouldn’t reflect well on the institution, which is already facing scrutiny, and I don’t want to make matters worse. We need something more concrete before taking action against them. Something that can’t easily be dismissed or refuted."
Hearing his concerns, the others slowly nodded. They understood his point, as the last thing they needed was to make a move based on uncertain information.
"I understand your concerns, and I share them as well," June replied. "But considering the source of this information, I believe it’s worth looking into, even if we don’t start with anything too drastic."
He continued, "Besides, we’ll never know unless we actually investigate. The academy is already under scrutiny, and its reputation is being questioned. So what difference would it make if we looked into this matter carefully?"
Everyone nodded again, considering his argument.
"Yes," Syll added. "Nyx is already a reliable source, so I believe there’s some truth to his vision. We shouldn’t delay. We need to make a move now, no matter how small it might be."
The Minister remained seated, deep in thought as he considered the situation. He stared at the people before him, weighing his options and trying to determine the best way to approach the matter.
Just as he was contemplating what to do, the door suddenly opened, and someone stepped into the room.
Everyone turned to look at the security man who had entered.
"What’s wrong?" the Minister asked.
The security man looked up at him and quickly delivered his message.
"Someone is waiting outside and demands immediate attention," he reported. "He claims to have confirmed information about the dungeon case."
