Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride
Chapter 789: The Blood of Two Queens
Nikita’s golden claws struck against the vampire’s crimson blades, sending a violent shockwave across the elevated walkway. The two women exchanged several blows within seconds, their bodies moving fast enough that the surrounding soldiers struggled to follow their movements.
However, unlike the earlier guards, the silver-haired vampire didn’t seem overwhelmed by Nikita’s strength.
Instead, she smiled.
"Is this all the famous Fenrir bloodline can offer?"
"Haaah?!"
Nikita’s expression twisted.
"Don’t get cocky, you bitch!"
She lowered her body before launching herself forward, her golden aura intensifying as she delivered an enormous punch towards the woman’s stomach.
BANG!
The vampire twisted aside.
Rather than blocking, she allowed Nikita’s fist to pass beside her waist before driving one of her crimson blades towards the werewolf’s exposed ribs.
’Shit!’
Nikita immediately shifted her weight, but couldn’t completely avoid the attack.
SHIIIING!
A long cut appeared beneath her arm before her dark blood splashed across the concrete.
"AGH!"
The vampire curled her lips, mocking Nikita.
"Such impressive strength, but your movements are rather predictable."
"Fucking bitch!"
Nikita kicked towards her opponent’s head, but the woman ducked before retreating several metres, her expression remaining calm as she tapped the concrete. Each step formed deep cracks from her sheer power.
’What’s wrong with this woman?’
Nikita narrowed her eyes, focused on the woman ahead.
The vampire wasn’t necessarily stronger than her if anything, in terms of physical strength, she was considerably weaker. However, her movements were precise, and she seemed capable of anticipating every attack Nikita attempted.
More importantly...
’Those blades fucking hurt!’
The wound beneath her ribs continued burning, despite her powerful regeneration. Something coating the crimson weapons prevented the damaged flesh from healing normally.
Nikita clicked her tongue.
Meanwhile, Selene wasn’t having a particularly easy time either.
DADADADADA!
Several machine guns continued firing from the opposite end of the walkway.
Although she’d managed to kill several soldiers using her elemental blood arts, the remaining vampires had quickly adapted.
Rather than rushing towards her, they remained behind reinforced barriers, firing specialised ammunition whenever she attempted to approach.
And worse...
’They’re aiming for my blood!’
Selene’s expression darkened, her teeth grinding with each movement.
Every time her blood approached the enemy, several soldiers would fire strange rounds that exploded into clouds of fine metallic fragments.
The fragments interfered with her control, making it increasingly difficult to maintain her larger techniques.
"How troublesome..."
She flicked her wrist, creating several thin streams of crimson blood that spread across the ground before freezing into sharp spikes.
Three soldiers were impaled before they could escape, but the remaining troops immediately retreated and fired back at her with deadly rounds.
’They’re well trained.’
Selene glanced towards Nikita.
The foolish werewolf was still fighting that silver-haired woman, although several wounds now covered her arms and shoulders. "...Stupid dog." Selene sighed while trying to adjust her breathing.
’She’s getting angry.’
The Fenrir bloodline became more powerful when its bearer experienced intense emotions, but with such intense anger came lack of control and only weakness. Especially against an opponent who specialised in exploiting mistakes.
"NIKITA!"
"WHAT?!"
"STOP FIGHTING LIKE AN IDIOT!"
"HAAAH?!"
Nikita barely avoided another crimson blade before glaring towards Selene.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING AN IDIOT?!"
"YOU!"
"FUCKING BLOODSUCKER!"
The silver-haired vampire stopped in place, her gaze shifting between the two women, not quite sure what they were trying to achieve.
"Are they seriously arguing?"
She couldn’t understand what she was witnessing, unable to understand how these were the wives of Nikolai Volkov. The two women belonged to ancient royal bloodlines, and yet... they behaved like quarrelling children.
"How disappointing."
The vampire sighed before raising her blades.
"Perhaps your husband would’ve been a more interesting opponent."
"..."
Nikita stopped moving at the same time as Selene, who suddenly stopped shouting at the other. Then almost instantly, both women turned towards her.
"...What did you say?"
The vampire raised an eyebrow, about to speak, when Nikita’s glared back at her with her shining golden eyes oozing aura.
"Oi, you bitch." Her voice became unusually raspy and aggressive.
"Don’t bring my husband into this."
Selene didn’t say anything, instead just nodding with her lips curved into a smirk. Although it was a beautiful expression, there wasn’t the slightest warmth behind it. "Indeed. I don’t recall giving you permission to speak about my husband."
For the first time since their battle began, the silver-haired vampire felt something unpleasant.
’Their auras...?’
The golden pressure surrounding Nikita intensified, and yet... at the same time, it lost the intense fluctuations. At the same time, Selene’s crimson blood aura began spreading across the walkway.
However, rather than charging recklessly, Nikita slowly approached the blonde vampire.
"Selene."
"Hm?"
"This bitch is annoying."
"Yeah, she’s a bit more annoying than you."
"Can you handle those guns?"
Selene glanced towards the reinforced positions.
"...For a little while."
"Okay, then... shall we try that thing?"
Nikita cracked her neck twice, with Selene copying the werewolf almost perfectly.
"Then let’s stop fucking around."
Nikita launched herself towards the silver-haired vampire, her golden aura spreading across the walkway as she closed the distance within seconds.
However, unlike before, the werewolf didn’t immediately attack.
Instead, she twisted her body, allowing the woman’s crimson blade to pass beside her cheek before striking the concrete beneath her feet.
CRACK!
The reinforced walkway shattered, sending several enormous fragments flying towards the vampire, forcing her to raise both blades. But before she could destroy the debris with her skills, a burst of crimson flames erupted across the broken concrete.
"...What?!"
"Hehe!"
The flames weren’t particularly powerful compared to Selene’s elemental blood arts, but the sudden appearance of a vampire technique from a Fenrir caught her opponent completely off guard.
’Got you!’
Nikita rushed through the burning debris, her golden claws tearing towards the woman’s exposed stomach.
BANG!
The impact sent the vampire flying backwards, smashing through a reinforced barrier before landing several metres away.
"AGH!"
Yet Nikita stopped her pursuit, instead she glanced towards Selene, who’d already begun moving towards the gun emplacements.
Oi, bloodsucker!"
"What?!"
"Don’t forget our training!"
Selene smiled.
"Fufufu, worry about yourself, stupid dog!"
DADADADADA!
Several machine guns turned towards the blonde vampire. However, before the soldiers could adjust their aim, two crimson figures emerged beside her. They were almost identical to Selene, although their bodies appeared slightly translucent.
’Kumiko’s clones...’
Unlike the original technique, which allowed Kumiko to create independent copies of herself, Selene’s imitation required her constant attention. Yet, the upside was that each of them could use her elemental powers.
However, she wasn’t planning to use them for fighting.
"Go!"
Both clones rushed towards the opposite defensive positions.
"THREE TARGETS!"
"FIRE!"
DADADADADA!
The soldiers immediately split their fire.
One clone disappeared beneath the hail of bullets, while the second managed to reach the nearest barricade before its body collapsed into a puddle of crimson blood.
The soldiers stared at the remains.
"...Huh?"
Selene raised the corners of her lips, letting her fangs peek slightly.
"Fools."
FWOOSH!
The scattered blood suddenly ignited.
Several soldiers screamed as crimson flames spread across their equipment, forcing the remaining vampires to abandon their defensive positions.
Meanwhile, Selene raised her hand.
CRACK! CRACK!
Enormous spikes of frozen blood erupted beneath the retreating soldiers.
Three were impaled.
Another lost his arm before escaping behind a reinforced wall.
"That was better than I thought..."
Selene lowered her hand while breathing heavily. The combination of elemental blood arts and her imperfect clones consumed considerably more blood than ordinary techniques.
Not to mention the strange pressure from that damned moon.
’I’ll have to finish this quickly.’
She glanced towards Nikita, locked in a heated battle with the silver-haired vampire, who had recovered from the earlier attack, although it seemed her regeneration was failing to keep up as blood now trickled from her lips.
"You..."
The woman’s eyes snapped open.
"A werewolf using blood arts, and a vampire using the techniques of a werewolf and another race... is this what father spoke of?!"
Nikita drew her leg back, taking a martial arts pose, her leading fist clenched towards the vampire and her right palm facing the heavens as a crackle of electricity arced from her body like a mantle of lightning.
"...What kind of monsters are you?"
"Haaah?!"
Nikita’s expression twisted, her eyes narrowed into slits. "Fuck you. Who the hell are you calling a monster, bitch?!" Speaking in her native dialect, she spat on the floor before her aura erupted like an explosion.
Selene covered her mouth.
"Fufufu, that’s rather rich coming from you."
"SHUT UP!"
The silver-haired vampire’s face darkened.
"Enough!"
An enormous crimson aura erupted from her body, spreading across both blades before extending their length.
The woman was close to the Ancestor level, but she wasn’t an Ancestor. Even with the modifications to her body, it wasn’t close to the real thing, and the wounds on her revealed that.
Yet she didn’t stop there.
The pressure surrounding her grew considerably stronger.
Nikita’s smile gradually disappeared, turning into a frown as the woman’s aura spiked past the threshold of a low-tier Ancestor.
’No fucking way!?’
The woman had stopped holding back.
