[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 137: Ch 137: Take a walk
As a result of that headache, Noah ended up roaming around the campus for some time. It was a huge space but mostly empty after what had happened at the festival.
Noah had not seen the aftermath of the festival disaster, but he had heard how the upper-class area had been uprooted and how most guides were in critical condition.
But the medical wing had been empty, and it was because the espers who claimed the guides had taken responsibility and decided to get them treated.
Right now, most of the students had yet to return, so it was easier for Noah to roam around the academy and not get caught.
"I wanted to enjoy my walk, but my body is telling me that it’s time to head back now."
Even his vision was blurry to the point of no longer being able to tell where he was. So Noah had to depend on his memory to guide him back to the medical wing.
He tried his best, but he was sure he was properly lost. He ended up in front of a familiar building, but his brain failed to register where he was until he walked inside.
There were strong presences in the building, and their energy was that of espers. It slowly started to drive away the headache, and Noah was able to think once more.
It was then that he realised that he was in the espers’ dorm building, and another kind of alarm bell started to ring in his mind.
’I need to head back right now. Being caught here won’t do me any good—’
But it was too late.
For the second time that night, someone snuck up on Noah, and a hand landed on his shoulder.
He panicked and swung his hand back, only to be grabbed by a shocked Ethan.
His assigned partner looked at Noah with a concerned expression before lowering his arm.
"Noah, are you alright? Did something happen? You were swinging your arm around like a wildman..."
Ethan asked with a concerned expression, and Noah shook his head to show that it was not the case. At the same time, he felt relieved to see a familiar face in front of him.
"I am fine... I think. I came here before my mind could register where I was going."
"And where were you going?"
"The medical wing... don’t look so alarmed! I just have a fever, and my head was hurting so much on my walk that I ended up here."
Noah defended himself, but Ethan looked like he did not believe him. This caused him to let out a sigh, and he grabbed Noah’s arm and started to lead him out.
"It’s alright. You are sick, and things like these happen. Would you like me to lead you back to the medical room for now?"
Ethan asked, and Noah nodded.
He was not prideful enough to refuse the help that he needed. Moreover, this was a good opportunity to have a talk with Ethan and know more about his parents.
They quickly fell into a rhythm as they headed back, and Noah dared to peek at Ethan’s cold yet concerned expression.
The silence felt a little awkward, and Noah decided to fill it by asking questions.
"Ethan, do you love your parents? I feel like there is a weird atmosphere at your home."
Noah could be subtle when he needed to, but he had a feeling it would be better to be direct with Ethan.
Luckily, he did not look offended by Noah’s interest, and he even made a thinking face before he answered Noah.
"You want to know my relationship with my parents? Well, I would say that it’s just like any other parent? We are not close, but they provide me with whatever I need. They are so distant from me that I sometimes even wonder how we are related. So I secretly did a DNA test while I was young. And guess what? Turns out we are 100% related."
Ethan sounded happy when he spoke about his parents.
He might have said that he did not get along with his parents or that he was indifferent, but his desire to get along with them was buried deep in his subconscious.
But somehow, it did not surprise Noah to hear that Ethan was biologically related to that scientific couple. Not only did he look like them, but it was possible that their genetic DNA was mixed in while creating him.
Or worse, he had been "volunteered" by the couple in order to awaken as a high-class esper.
After all, Ethan’s mother sure looked like the kind of lady who had no blood or tears even for her own family.
Of course, none of this was something Noah had any intention of telling Ethan.
"Well, it seems like you have a great relationship with your parents."
Noah pointed out, and Ethan let out a chuckle.
"Well, I won’t say that. We mostly stay out of each other’s way, and it works. But I am sure we are not the only family facing issues like these. Every family is like this in the end."
Now, that was something Noah was not sure about. But he decided not to say anything to Ethan either.
After all, he did not want to break Ethan’s happiness and doze him with reality. So he just smiled and hurried towards the medical wing.
Professor Riku did not look happy to see him outside, but once he realised that Noah was fine and not dying, he relaxed and gestured for him to head back to rest.
Noah did that without saying a word more, and Ethan went back to his room to rest as well.
The next day was the first day of class, and Noah missed it because of his condition. The fever continued to surge to dangerous levels, likely due to the drug in his system.
He was not even aware of who came to visit him and who was not there.
But miraculously, by the time the third day arrived, Noah did not feel even a bit of pain. He had been cured fully.
