Chapter 17: Getting detained

Then he looked at the four of them and coldly smiled . Benny, Will, and Jack came out of the crowd and saw him standing there, looking all bloody, as the four from Jason’s group lay on the ground, beaten up.

"What the fuck!?" Benny shouted.

Veyron looked toward his friends and said, "Oh, hey guys!"

Benny was shaking. He walked toward Veyron slowly, one step at a time. Jack and Will stayed where they were, not daring to move.

"D... did you do this?" Benny asked.

Veyron saw the look on his face. He chuckled lightly. "Well, of course. They were talking shit about my parents. I couldn’t just take it, so I had to teach them a lesson."

"B... But, how...? And do you realize—!"

Benny never finished. A voice cut through the outer court, loud enough to still the crowd.

"WHAT’S THE NAME OF HEAVENS GOING ON HERE!!"

Every head turned.

A middle-aged man stood at the edge of the circle in azure blue robes, the color worn by the elders of the sect. Shock sat on his face, and under it a deep frown.

"Oh shit... it’s Elder Beric, the vice head of the disciplinary hall of the sect!"

"He is fucked now!!"

"Elder Beric will make sure of that. He is very strict, and he has great connections to the Ignis clan."

"Did you not hear me?" Elder Beric said again. His voice carried through the outer court. "What’s going on here, and who beat up those four?"

Veyron had known this would happen. He had already taken it into account. He looked up and answered, "I did this. We had a fight, and I merely defended myself."

"It sure doesn’t seem like defense to me. And you are saying you beat them up." Elder Beric recognized him, as everyone did, because of his connection to his aunt.

Two more figures pushed out of the crowd. They belonged to Jason’s group, though they were not exactly his lackeys. They came from other clans.

"Elder, Brother Jason was just talking to Veyron. Then he started beating them up. We don’t know how he did it... but it was brutal. Look at his hands and face."

Elder Beric took in the scene and thought for a moment. He called for his disciples. Eight or Nine disciples from the disciplinary hall arrived quickly.

"Take those four to the medical hall."

They obeyed. Jason and his lackeys were carried off. Then Elder Beric turned to Veyron, who stood there without a trace of fear on his face.

Benny bit at his fingernails. He did not know how to save his friend. This was going to be bad. Would even his aunt be able to pull him out of it? He had only defended himself. It shouldn’t be anything big, right? The thought did not settle his nerves.

"You are truly daring... Veyron Ignis. I don’t know how you got so strong, enough to beat them, when you were just a cripple not too long ago."

"But do you think, because of your connection to your aunt, you can do anything you want?"

"What do you mean by that, Elder?" Veyron asked, frowning. "Did you not hear me when I said I defended myself? They ganged up on me, so I had to teach them a lesson."

The disciples around them gasped. He was talking to Elder Beric like that. The vice head of the disciplinary hall. Had he gone mad?

Benny, Jack, and Will knew he was hot-tempered, and insane sometimes. This had never happened before.

"Shut your mouth... you insolent brat!!"

"I see clearly what happened here. The blood on your hands is enough. You will be taken to the disciplinary hall, and there you will be judged."

"Disciples, take him." More disciplinary hall disciples moved in to lock him up until his punishment was decided.

"Looks like age has really made you a retard," Veyron said, anger thick in his voice. "Or you have become a dog of the Ignis clan." He understood now. This motherfucker was deciding the matter with bias.

"You... you!! Insufferable brat!! How dare you mock an elder?" Elder Beric trembled with rage. The insult had come from the mouth of a mere outer court disciple.

He was respected across the whole sect as the vice head of the disciplinary hall of the Azure Sky Sect. Core disciples and other elders treated him with respect. And this boy was speaking to him like this.

It was unexpectebale!

Murmurs rose in the crowd. He had really gone insane. Did he not fear the consequences of what he was doing?

He was talking to a fucking elder. Not an ordinary one. The vice head of the disciplinary hall of the sect.

Veyron’s friends went pale.

"Well, since you are making the decision now," Veyron said, "I am starting to wonder how you even got that position. Someone must have really gone insane, handing something so important to a retard who can’t tell right from wrong. The head of the disciplinary hall."

"You... you wait. I’ll teach you now!" Elder Beric moved, then stopped just as quickly. If he killed the boy here, Grand Elder Aveline would not leave him alone.

The disciplinary hall disciples had frozen, shocked by what they were hearing. Then the order came again.

"Take him away and lock him up."

They moved and detained Veyron. He did not struggle. He looked at Elder Beric one last time.

"You just made the biggest mistake of your life by making me your enemy."

The disciples around them were stunned by the words.

Veyron was taken away by the disciplinary hall. Elder Beric disappeared with them. And soon, everything about the incident had spread through the whole sect.

Not many incidents that happened in the outer court of the sect spread through the whole sect, unless they were related to noble clans, or were sometimes unique or big.

And this time, it was a dispute between Veyron Ignis and Jason Ignis, both of the Ignis clan. Although Veyron was not exactly of the Ignis clan, as the clan did not accept him.

But more than that, it was his attitude toward Elder Beric that shocked disciples of both the inner and core courts.

And the fact that a cripple was able to beat three disciples who were stronger than him, and beat them to a bloody pulp at that. They still did not understand if they were hearing about the same person.

It did not take long for the news to reach Aveline, who was still in the peak hall teaching her disciples, by the communication jade.

"What!!?"

All the girls were shocked as they saw such a shocked and angry expression on Aveline’s face. It was a very rare thing to see. Xialyn appeared beside her master with the other disciples and asked.

"What happened, Master?"

Aveline put down the communication jade. Her face still held an angry expression. "How dare he treat my baby like that?" She looked toward her disciples and told them what had happened.

"What!?"

"Wasn’t he here a few hours ago, and now suddenly this!"

"But didn’t Senior Brother Veyron just defend himself? I know that guy, he is a bully!!" One of the outer court disciple girls spoke.

"He is from the Ignis clan. He often bullies Senior Brother Veyron and his friends, and many other disciples in the outer sect. But the disciplinary hall never did anything!"

"And now that Little Vey took his revenge, and I am sure he must have only defended himself. He is being detained." Xialyn gritted her teeth. She could not believe how unfair it was.

Aveline did not say anything. She thought for a moment and said, "Alright... girls, you all practice what I taught you today. Xialyn, you will be in charge."

"What about you, Master?" Xialyn said.

"I’ll be going to the disciplinary hall now. Looks like it’s been a long time since I talked to her, and she needs to choose her subordinates properly."

Saying that, Aveline disappeared from her place. Xialyn did not get to say that she also wanted to come, but she needed to follow her master’s words. And she knew she would deal with it.

Inside the disciplinary hall, Veyron was locked up. He sat there with a calm face, as if he did not fear the punishment, and as if everything would be fine.

[Are you not worried about what they will decide?]

"Nah. I soon will be out of here. My aunt will be coming soon. Although I am angry at that cunt. How does that motherfucker become an elder?"

Then suddenly he heard the sound of footsteps. Someone was coming toward the cell he was locked in.
