Chapter 31: Upgrading the Spirit Core

[However, if you want your foundation to be truly solid, your Spirit Core will need more pills to undergo proper refinement. On top of that, your Spirit Veins are unique, so you will need at least twenty Grade Three Pills.]

"I understand... but I don’t have that many Grade Three Spirit Pills. I know Aunt will give me some, but even she has a limited supply. She can’t just give all of them to me, either, since she needs to distribute them among the peak disciples."

[That won’t be a problem... But before I tell you why, why don’t you upgrade your Spirit Core to 100 times its current level?]

Veyron didn’t understand how that wouldn’t be a problem. However, something suddenly clicked in his mind. For now, he decided to follow the System’s suggestion, as he was also extremely excited to see the effects of strengthening his Spirit Core.

He began the process.

[Which aspect shared through your bond with Aveline Amoria would you like to strengthen by 100 times?]

Veyron didn’t need to think twice. The most important aspect was undoubtedly his Spirit Core. It was the foundation of every cultivator’s strength, and without one, cultivating was impossible.

The stronger one’s Spirit Core was, the greater their potential for growth. With that in mind, he selected his Spirit Core, which was currently a Blue Spirit Core.

Another notification appeared.

Ding!

[100× Blue Spirit Core upgrade in progress...]

Veyron waited expectantly for a few moments. Soon, his body began to float above the bed, and a brilliant glow enveloped him.

He was slightly startled by the sudden change.

[Relax... This is a natural part of the process. Keep your mind calm.]

Veyron followed the System’s instructions and calmed his mind. A moment later, his body began to heat up as he felt something changing within his Spirit Core.

An indescribable sensation began to spread through him. It felt as though something immense and extraordinary was taking place inside his body.

The sensation brought him an overwhelming feeling of exhilaration, one he couldn’t possibly put into words.

Several seconds passed before another notification finally appeared.

Ding!!

[Congratulations!!!]

[Your Blue Spirit Core has successfully been strengthened by 100 times!]

[You have acquired a Celestial Spirit Core!]

Veyron’s body finally dropped back onto his bed. He didn’t even need to look at the notification to know how much stronger his Spirit Core had become. He could feel it himself. It was as though he had become an entirely new being.

His mind felt completely relaxed. He had never experienced such profound calmness before, and it seemed as though his perception of the world had subtly changed.

He suddenly felt wiser, as if he could understand things that had once been beyond his comprehension.

He was experiencing numerous unfamiliar sensations, most of which he couldn’t fully understand. However, he knew one thing for certain: the fundamental limits that every cultivator in this world experienced had been broken for him.

He would no longer be bound by those same restrictions. He felt an intense urge to begin cultivating right away, but before doing so, he wanted to understand more about the changes he was experiencing.

[I know you want to understand the changes you’ve undergone. Alright, I’ll explain everything to you.]

[Hmm... The first change is that your Spirit Energy has become much denser, purer, and more powerful. In other words, you’ll be several times stronger than other cultivators at the same rank, and you might even be able to rival those at higher ranks.]

Veyron listened to the System’s explanation, understanding exactly what it meant. He could already feel the difference himself.

He extended his hand, and a small amount of Spirit Energy gathered in his palm.

At first glance, it didn’t look any different. It was still white, just as before. However, he could feel the tremendous change in its quality, and its true effects would become apparent once he put it to use.

Simply looking at his Spirit Energy, no one would be able to tell how much it had changed.

After all, a cultivator’s Spirit Energy color and aura usually depended on their affinity. Since Veyron didn’t possess any affinity yet, his Spirit Energy remained white.

However, that didn’t matter. Sooner or later, he would acquire multiple affinities, along with unparalleled comprehension of each one. Of course, the level of comprehension he gained would depend on the comprehension of the women he bonded with.

With that thought in mind, he turned his attention back to the System as it explained the next change.

[The second change is that your cultivation speed has increased dramatically. Your Celestial Spirit Core can absorb and refine Spirit Energy far more efficiently than lower-ranked Spirit Cores. ]

[And considering that yours is a Celestial Spirit Core, you can imagine just how significant the difference is.]

[Additionally, breaking through bottlenecks may also become much easier for you. The fundamental limits that once restricted you have been broken, so congratulations!]

Veyron was delighted to hear that. He immediately understood how important this change would be for his cultivation.

With a Celestial Spirit Core, he would be able to break through much faster than ordinary cultivators, giving him a tremendous advantage in his journey toward greater strength.

With that, the System explained the next change.

[Your Spirit Core can now store significantly more Spirit Energy without increasing in size. In other words, your capacity to hold Spirit Energy has increased tremendously. You’ll be able to fight for much longer and use powerful techniques repeatedly without running out of Spirit Energy so quickly.]

Veyron had already expected this, as it was one of the most common advantages of possessing a higher-ranked Spirit Core. Therefore, it didn’t surprise him much.

Nevertheless, he was pleased to learn that he could now use powerful techniques repeatedly without exhausting his Spirit Energy too quickly. That alone would prove extremely useful in battle.

[The next change is that your comprehension of almost everything has increased tremendously. Whether it’s a complex battle technique, a cultivation technique, or anything else related to the Dao of Cultivation, you’ll find it much easier to understand and comprehend.]

[ Even things that would normally be extremely difficult for other cultivators to grasp will become far easier for you.]

This was something Veyron could already feel. Ever since his Spirit Core had been upgraded, he had felt as though he had suddenly become a wise old man, capable of understanding things that would have previously left him confused.

Therefore, he didn’t really need the System to explain this particular change to him.

[Sigh... Will you stop interrupting me and listen quietly?]

Hearing the System’s irritated voice, Veyron scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"Haha, sorry."

[As I was saying, your Spirit Energy reserves have increased significantly, and your Spirit Energy can now regenerate much faster as well. This will allow you to recover more quickly after prolonged battles and reduce the time needed to replenish your reserves.]

This was to be expected. Although his Spirit Energy reserves had increased significantly, it didn’t mean he could fight continuously without ever exhausting them.

No matter how vast his reserves were, constantly fighting and using Spirit Energy would eventually deplete them.
