Bonding System: I Grow Stronger by Taming My Sect Elders
Chapter 33: Let me go!
After that, the other female disciple smiled and said, "Junior Brother Veyron, now that we’ve wished you good luck, we’ll be on our way. We’ll see you in three months. You can take this opportunity to talk with Senior Sister Xialyn."
With that, she grabbed her companion’s hand and began dragging her away. The other female disciple, however, was clearly reluctant to leave.
She kept glancing back at Veyron and Xialyn, seemingly eager to see how things would unfold between them. Unfortunately for her, her companion had no intention of letting her stay and watch.
Once the two of them were finally alone, Veyron turned his attention toward Xialyn. She was still standing there with her arms crossed, her face turned away from him, and a faint frown on her beautiful face.
Veyron sighed inwardly before stepping closer to her. However, the moment he approached, Xialyn took a step back, maintaining the distance between them.
Seeing her reaction, Veyron could only sigh again. He knew she was genuinely upset with him, and he couldn’t exactly blame her.
"I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t because that bastard Victor took you away with him."
"Hmph... You’re just making excuses. You don’t even consider your senior sister important to you anymore," Xialyn retorted.
Although she tried to maintain her usual attitude, her voice carried a hint of sadness. Her eyes gradually grew misty, and she turned her face away, seemingly unwilling to let him see the hurt expression on her face.
One thing Veyron knew about his Senior Sister Xialyn was that she was a genius in almost everything she did.
Her talent was exceptional, and she was regarded as one of the finest disciples of the sect. That was precisely why she had become a core disciple at the young age of twenty-five.
Most disciples had to wait until they were over thirty before earning the same position, yet she had achieved it years ahead of them.
However, despite her remarkable talent and status, Xialyn had another side to her personality that few people ever got to see.
She was playful, occasionally temperamental, and sometimes even mischievous. Yet she rarely showed that side of herself to outsiders, reserving it for her fellow sisters of Jade Mist Peak and Veyron, with whom she felt comfortable enough to let her guard down.
And beneath that playful exterior was a surprisingly emotional woman.
Veyron had seen many different sides of his senior sister, but seeing her look so hurt because of him made him feel uncomfortable.
He didn’t like the thought of being the reason behind her sadness, especially when he knew how much she cared about him.
Now that they were bonded, the connection between them made things even more complicated. He could faintly sense the emotions she was experiencing, allowing him to feel some of the pain hidden beneath her seemingly childish complaint.
From an outsider’s perspective, her reaction might have seemed excessive. After all, he had merely forgotten to tell her that he would be entering closed-door cultivation for three months. It wasn’t as though he had done something terrible.
But for Xialyn, it wasn’t simply about being informed of his plans.
She loved him, and she had come to regard herself as someone important in his life. She believed that whenever something significant happened, Veyron would share it with her, especially since she considered herself one of the people closest to him after his aunt.
Yet this time, he had made such an important decision without telling her beforehand. Even if it had been unintentional, it left her feeling as though she wasn’t as important to him as she had thought.
And because of their bond, those emotions were amplified, making the disappointment sting far more deeply than it otherwise would have.
Looking at her misty eyes and the way she stubbornly refused to look at him, Veyron couldn’t help but feel a little helpless.
Veyron suddenly disappeared from where he stood, using his Wind Flash Steps technique to appear directly behind Xialyn.
The sudden movement caught her completely off guard, and before she could even turn around to see what had happened, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her backward.
"Ah!"
Her soft body pressed against his chest, and she immediately recognized the familiar warmth surrounding her.
"You!... Let me go!" Xialyn protested, turning her head to glare at him over her shoulder.
However, despite her words, she made no serious attempt to break free. If she had wanted to escape, she could have easily done so with her strength. Yet, for some reason, she didn’t really want to push him away either.
Veyron paid no attention to her protest. Instead, he gently raised his other hand and placed it against her smooth cheek, turning her face toward him until her beautiful purple eyes met his crimson ones.
"Shhh... Look at me, my beautiful senior sister," he whispered.
His voice was gentle, carrying a warmth that was difficult to resist. Xialyn’s lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but the words never came.
With their faces so close, she could clearly see the affection in his eyes, and her earlier determination to remain angry began to waver.
Gradually, her struggles stopped altogether. She found herself relaxing in his embrace, her cheeks growing warm as she continued looking into his eyes.
The longer she remained in his arms, the more she wanted to forget everything else and simply enjoy this moment with him. The lingering frustration in her heart slowly melted away, replaced by a sweet, comforting feeling that made her wish she could stay like this forever.
Of course, this was partly because Desire Resonance was operating at its full power, amplifying the affection she already felt for him.
Ding!
[Xialyn’s bonding has increased by 2%.]
[Xialyn’s current bonding is 69%.]
Veyron completely ignored the notifications. His attention remained fixed on the beautiful woman in his arms, especially the subtle changes in her expression as her anger gradually gave way to affection.
He gently brushed his thumb across her cheek before speaking again.
"Although I didn’t get the chance to tell you yesterday, how could your little Vey ever consider you unimportant in his life, Senior Sister?"
Xialyn’s heart skipped a beat.
She had been trying so hard to convince herself that she was right to be upset with him, yet hearing those familiar words from his mouth made it increasingly difficult to maintain her resolve.
Her lips moved slightly, but she couldn’t think of anything to say. Instead, she lowered her gaze for a moment, trying to hide the growing warmth in her cheeks.
Ding!
[Xialyn’s bonding has increased by 1%.]
Veyron smiled faintly as he continued caressing her cheek. His handsome face, gentle expression, and affectionate gaze left Xialyn feeling utterly helpless against him.
How was she supposed to remain angry when her little Vey was looking at her like that?
In the end, she gave up trying to hold back her feelings and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, pulling herself closer to him.
"It’s alright, little Vey. Senior Sister isn’t mad at you anymore," she murmured.
Her voice had softened considerably, and the smile returning to her face was enough to tell Veyron that she had finally forgiven him.
He smiled in return, tightening his arms around her waist.
After a moment, Xialyn leaned back slightly, just enough to look at him properly. Even then, she made no attempt to leave his embrace. Her arms remained wrapped around his neck, while his hands rested securely against her slender waist.
