Born with Supreme Potential, Yet I Choose to Be a Kept Husband
Chapter 99: City Lord’s Solution
Evelyn continued, "You want to establish Shadow Genesis and eventually accept mercenary missions, right? If you want your squad to grow, you’ll have to deal with official procedures sooner or later. You can’t avoid every inconvenience simply because you don’t want people to know about you."
Lucian looked at her thoughtfully.
She wasn’t wrong.
He wanted to build Shadow Genesis while keeping his abilities hidden. That was understandable, but it didn’t mean he had to reject every form of assistance.
There was a difference between revealing his secrets and asking his uncle for advice.
Magnus already knew about Lucian’s unusual abilities. There was no reason to hide the existence of the registration problem from him.
Moreover, if Magnus could help them understand the requirements, Lucian might be able to find a solution without personally visiting the guild.
"All right," Lucian finally said. "Let’s ask Uncle Magnus."
Evelyn smiled with satisfaction.
"See? Was that so difficult?"
"Don’t get too happy. We still haven’t solved the problem."
"At least now we’re doing something useful instead of sitting here worrying about it."
Lucian shook his head helplessly.
Sometimes, talking to Evelyn was more troublesome than dealing with an actual problem.
Of course, he would never admit that to her.
He stood up from his chair and straightened his clothes.
"Let’s go. We should talk to Uncle Magnus before he gets occupied with other matters."
Evelyn stood up as well.
As they left the room, she glanced at him.
"By the way, make sure you explain the situation properly. Don’t just tell Father that your Shadow Soldier needs documents and expect him to guess everything else."
"I know how to explain a problem."
"Really? After what happened today, I’m not sure about that."
Lucian gave her a helpless look.
"Evelyn."
"What?"
"You’re enjoying this far too much."
She smiled sweetly.
"Of course I am."
Lucian sighed, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.
Despite her teasing, he was glad she had pointed out the problem before he wasted time trying to register his squad.
The two continued down the corridor toward Magnus’s room.
Lucian still didn’t have a solution, but at least he now knew exactly what he was dealing with.
Citizenship identification, blood verification, and a wisp of Martial Aura.
Three requirements stood between him and the registration of Shadow Genesis.
Hopefully, Uncle Magnus would be able to help.
With that thought in mind, Lucian and Evelyn arrived at Magnus’s door.
Evelyn raised her hand and knocked.
A moment later, a voice came from inside.
"Come in."
The two exchanged a glance before entering the room.
Magnus looked up from his work and smiled when he saw them.
"Evelyn? Lucian? What brings you two here?"
Lucian stepped forward.
"Uncle, I need your advice about something."
Magnus put aside what he was doing and gave him his full attention.
"Go ahead. What’s the matter?"
Magnus put aside the documents on his desk and looked at Lucian.
"Go ahead. What’s the matter?"
Lucian didn’t waste any time beating around the bush.
"Uncle, I want to register Shadow Genesis at the Mercenary Guild, but I’ve run into a small problem."
Magnus raised an eyebrow.
"Shadow Genesis? Have you already decided on the name?"
"Yes. I’ve decided to call it Shadow Genesis."
Magnus nodded with interest.
"Not a bad name. So, what’s the problem?"
Lucian outlined the entire story. He told Magnus that he would send one of his Shadow Soldiers to the Mercenary Guild to fill out his application instead of him.
However, according to the requirements on the official website of the Mercenary Guild, the applicant would need to provide their citizenship identification, take a blood sample for verification, and release a wisp of Martial Aura.
Although his Shadow Soldier could release a wisp of Martial Aura, it did not have any identification documents. The blood verification would be another problem that Lucian would need to figure out.
After listening to his story, Magnus leaned back in his chair.
"So, you want to register your squad without showing yourself at the Mercenary Guild?"
"That’s right,"
Magnus stared at him for a while before asking, "Why don’t you just go there yourself? Are you afraid of ordinary people?"
Lucian shook his head,
"It has nothing to do with being afraid. I just don’t want to draw too much attention to myself."
He was about to say something else when he took a deep breath
"Uncle, you already know about my Shadow Soldiers. Their powers are extraordinary, and I can complete various tasks on my own without getting directly involved. Besides, I’ve been awakened for barely a month, yet I’m already in the Master Master Realm. If I go to the Mercenary Guild, people will undoubtedly take an interest in me and start questioning how I’ve progressed so quickly. I’d rather avoid attracting that kind of attention for as long as possible, at least until I have no other choice."
Magnus nodded in understanding.
He understood what Lucian meant. A young man with amazing powers must be discreet and reveal as little information as possible. In the past, some powerful skills had attracted human interest, and once people got involved, it was often too late to relegate those skills to obscurity.
Of course, Magnus knew very well that Lucian was no ordinary young man.
After all, he had already seen enough of Lucian’s extraordinary talents to understand that he was more than he seemed.
"Your idea isn’t wrong," said Magnus, "but there’s no need to display all of your talents just to register a mercenary squad. The problem is, how are you going to meet the requirements set by the guild?"
"That’s the question isn’t it?"
Lucian stretched out his hands in exasperation
"I can manage the Martial Aura requirement, but the identification and blood verification are a pain."
Evelyn who had been standing beside Lucian nodded in agreement,
"We already checked out the official website. It doesn’t seem like there’s an alternate registration process."
Magnus tapped his fingers lightly against the desk for a moment, then looked up at Lucian.
"Tell me something. Can your Shadow Soldiers only imitate your appearance, or can they copy the physical characteristics of other people as well?"
Lucian was taken aback slightly by the unexpected question
"They can do a lot more than just appear similar to me," he said, pausing to collect his thoughts. "My Shadow Soldiers can copy another person’s physical features, body structure, aura, and other characteristics. They can reproduce the qualities that person possesses. As long as I have the necessary information, they can take on that person’s form."
Magnus’ brows lifted ever so slightly
"Everything?"
"Everything related to their physical form and aura that my ability can reproduce," Lucian clarified. "They aren’t limited to copying my appearance."
Evelyn glared fiercely at Lucian as she recalled what had happened the previous day.
She already knew about his Shadow Soldiers ability, but hearing him explain their capabilities so directly still surprised her.
Magnus however, was lost in thought. His fingers ceased their tapping against the desk
After a few seconds, a different expression had formed on his face as if he were thinking of a particularly intriguing idea.
"Wait," he said suddenly
Lucian and Evelyn turned to stare at him. Magnus leaned forward.
"If your soldiers can copy someone else’s physical structure and aura, then why are you worried about the blood verification?"
Lucian blinked
"Uncle, what are you saying?"
Magnus smiled faintly
