Although Eliza Bell repeatedly assured her that she was just in the next booth, absolutely impossible for anything to go wrong, she still felt a bit scared.

Joshua Hughes suppressed the chill throughout his body, his heart pounding almost out of rhythm. How could she be here? Just through a crack in the door, his sharp eyes flashed with disbelief; it was truly her. When she gently tilted her head, it revealed her smooth forehead and exquisitely delicate features, every inch of which were the most familiar and cherished lines to him.

"Bang!" The door was kicked open with a harsh blow from a long leg...

The man’s entire body was as cold as ice, yet there was a spark in his eyes, as if coming from the fires of Inferno, wanting to burn everything in sight to ashes, leaving nothing behind.

The tremendous noise caused Avery Jane to turn her head, and with just one look, she was so shocked that she fell down swiftly, her snowy white legs fully exposed under the light. Standing there with a face as frozen as ice was, unmistakably, Joshua Hughes. She could hardly believe what her eyes were seeing. She blinked and opened her eyes again—no mistake, it was indeed Joshua, exuding an intensely chilling aura, his eyes blood-red staring at her.

"What are you doing, Avery Jane?" Each word emerged like an ice block from his mouth, his piercing gaze reflecting sheer outrage. He glanced at the man sitting on the sofa, emanating a murderous aura like the dark night, making his compelling charm entwined with a pungent scent of blood. Avery’s heart pounded inexplicably; though she had clearly drawn the line with him, how did she end up being caught by him today in such a way? It felt a little embarrassing, like being caught red-handed.

Seated on the sofa was a young man, still quite youthful, likely either the affluent offspring of a businessman or an official, with a rebellious demeanor. Such young men usually feared nothing. He was almost undone by this new girl; she just twisted a bit, and he could barely hold back, despite not having touched her, he was already overwhelmed. But suddenly having the door kicked open like this was indeed frustrating.

The young man chuckled, looking at Joshua Hughes with a devil-may-care attitude, his eyes provocative: "Uncle, do you not understand manners? We just started; I haven’t had my fill yet. Could you step out for a bit? Tonight’s bill is on me."

Joshua Hughes’s eyes were as dark as ink, with not a hint of light, emanating a silent murderous intent as he approached. In the next moment, a violent punch swept across, carrying terrifying strength that struck that youthful, rebellious face. The force, powerful enough to shatter bones, left the young man unable to react, his whole body being flung out by the fierce punch, tumbling off the sofa and landing on the floor.

"Ugh..." The young man felt as if his face had been hit by an iron hammer, the sound of bones fracturing so alarmingly clear, his throat surged with the taste of blood, and the uncontrollable pain spread wildly. Originally handsome and delicate, his face had already swollen. Joshua Hughes silently took off his suit and laid it over Avery Jane. The lighting bathed her, and he gazed at her dazed, foggy eyes and rosy lips, wishing he could hide her away, not letting anyone take another look. Remembering the earlier scene only fueled the flames in his chest further...

The bodyguards, seeing the situation, hurriedly dragged the young man, whose face was almost like a swollen pig’s head, out. If this required the boss’s instruction, then they might as well not even have a job.

With the door closed, Avery Jane was still momentarily unable to process what had just happened. Joshua Hughes saw her long legs curled up on the ground, his eyes narrowed dangerously. He leaned down to lift her from the floor and placed her onto the sofa, his entire figure looming over her. The cool, elegant aura enveloped her tender, fair body, forehead to forehead: "Why do this? Avery, I can do anything for you, as long as you stay by my side, but why this?"

He was angry; Avery could clearly sense his fury. But this was her life; what did it have to do with him? What was he mad about? Didn’t he already have someone new? Besides, isn’t this the place men love? Didn’t he also come here?

"You come here for women, I come here for men, can’t I? Besides, you pay for women, I earn money with men, what’s wrong with that?" Avery lifted her clear eyes to meet his gaze, refusing to be intimidated by him. Who was he to her anyway?

On Joshua Hughes’s cold face, a horrifying, iron-blue tint slowly emerged as he placed his hand on her shoulder,
