Chapter 1036 - 537: If You Can’t Handle Losing, Don’t Play

The thin silver slip on the table, inscribed with a life and death contract, is like something from an ancient Magic Realm, determining the fate of two people.

Joshua Hughes looked on from afar, knowing Avery Jane’s name was written on it. In his heart, he quietly murmured, "Avery, do you know? I can decide everyone’s fate, but my fate is always in your hands."

Avery, precisely because I can control everyone’s fate, you may freely do what you wish, let all bloodshed and slaughter be for your sake. I only want you to fulfill your desires......

The dealer signaled the start, and all the wall lights and dozens of overhead crystal lamps went out simultaneously. The entire luxurious hall illuminated the gambling table with a spotlight, filled with spectators whose eyes turned scarlet. Today, at least ninety-nine percent had bet heavily on Tate Hunter’s win, yet this woman appeared unexpectedly.

Though she claimed to be Joshua Hughes’ wife, how could no one know if Joshua were truly married? What exactly was going on here?

The entire massive venue was filled with fervent spectators. Even without the scent of blood, the atmosphere was as intoxicating as the strongest, most stimulating liquor, shattering and burning throughout the venue. Joshua cared nothing for these people; their losses meant nothing to him. He sat there, elegantly cold, with his sharp thin lips lightly pressed. From this angle, he could see through Avery’s small form the lecherous gaze of the man opposite her. At the corner of his lips, a cold smile emerged, carrying a playful seriousness.

The spotlight shone clearly on the two people sitting at the table, staring at each other. Aside from heartbeat and breathing, it was so quiet, yet within this silence lurked the potential for explosive madness, the atmosphere igniting as the dealer’s smooth wand pushed out the first card......

Cold sweat broke out on her palm; her luck wasn’t great this round, she sensed it herself. Avery Jane watched the smug smile of the man opposite her, knowing she had lost this round. Could her consistent good fortune suddenly abandon her today? Avery closed her cards, signaling her defeat, and the dealer stopped dealing.

Tate Hunter gazed at Avery Jane’s stunning and exquisite face, smiling triumphantly. He thought making it to the finals was due to Edward Parker’s deliberate concessions, anticipating she’d at least show some skill. But she seemed mediocre indeed. This time he’d not only win a hefty sum but also enjoy a side bet, and indulge in pleasure with such a beauty – truly satisfying.

Avery glanced at him, slowly removing the shawl draped around her, causing all men present to inhale sharply......

With just a slight turn, the tenderness of her snow-white arm could be seen, and even a hint of the line of her half-exposed back. She wore a backless gown, indicating she wasn’t even wearing underwear. The thin straps seemed to entice men into snapping them with their hands or teeth. As she looked up at him, for a moment, it was like a frozen starry river, brilliant and dazzling.....

Such a vast expanse of smooth white back was exposed to everyone’s eyes, perfect, balanced—an extra fraction too full, a fraction less too thin, without a flaw, like a whole piece of superbly moist mutton fat jade, even more luminescent under the light beams. Joshua’s breath stilled, his scalp tightened; she dared to play such a beauty trap, and played it so beautifully. The man sitting opposite her knew her bare back was exposed yet couldn’t take a good look - what torment and anguish!

Even though Avery played her hand beautifully, he wanted to draw his gun and fire a warning shot, to make everyone close their eyes — she was his. Such a graceful figure reminded him of countless passionate nights when she slept exhausted, with that beautiful bare back, letting him kiss every inch of perfect skin. He could imagine what all men were now thinking, including Tate Hunter sitting on the table.
