Joshua Hughes stood on the stairs, slowly raising his finger, pointing at the woman in the red dress among the crowd.

She was very beautiful, with long chestnut curly hair and a seductive figure. Even without seeing her face, Avery Jane could guess that she must be an exquisite beauty. She was like a blooming red rose, more alluring than the countless roses around them. She walked slowly up the stairs, and Avery Jane’s face turned ashen as she watched this scene, the glaring red engulfing everything, her head beginning to throb painfully......

Something felt off, Joshua Hughes always felt something was a bit off, like there was always a trace of Avery Jane’s scent and presence in the air, even though it was weak, nearly overshadowed by the scent of these red roses, he could still smell it. But how was that possible?

Right now she was in Las Vegas, sleeping. The thought of Avery Jane being there chilled him to the bone.

This move was a bit risky, he thought if he was careful enough, he could keep it from Avery Jane for a month without a problem, and within a month he would’ve destroyed the Hughes Clan, avenging his father, and no one would dare use the Hughes Family rules against him to criticize him, point fingers, because those distasteful family rules would be a thing of the past.

That woman’s hand had already reached out, he hadn’t clearly seen what she looked like, but there would always be spies sent by those old men of the board here, he reached out his hand, his deep eyes sweeping indifferently, suddenly he seemed to see a pair of frightened and sorrowful eyes, black and white, clear as black crystal. Those eyes flashed quickly, like a startled bird suddenly disappearing without a trace. He wasn’t mistaken, those eyes were Avery Jane’s.....

Panicked, he rushed down the stairs in large strides, on either side of the red carpet, all the servants stood there, he had clearly seen Avery Jane’s eyes, not seen but felt, or captured. Avery Jane saw him striding towards here, she didn’t want to see him, how awkward it was, if he didn’t want her he could just say so, how could he send her to Las Vegas yet look for a new woman here? How much of his love was credible, or was it just casually said to deceive her? Avery Jane took two steps back wanting to run away.

The housekeeper didn’t know what had happened, the Hughes Family had been chaotic enough recently, even he could feel the storm brewing, so it was clear things were not that simple. And today the young master’s actions were too abnormal.

"Avery, Avery....?" That petite figure in a black maid’s dress turned and ran deep into the garden, Joshua Hughes’ heart was pounding, it really was her, he wasn’t mistaken, he ran up urgently, his entire mind like being bombed by a fighter jet. This time he probably couldn’t clear himself even if he jumped into the Nile River.

"Avery, listen to me, Avery......." She ran quickly, tears already blurring her vision, suddenly she stumbled forward into darkness, no light visible.

"Avery........" Just a little bit, just two steps, he watched her fall right in front of him, her whole body hit the small fountain in the courtyard, then her petite body slid down from the pool wall like a soft noodle.

Agonized, could this be heaven punishing him? For her to see such a thing, Joshua Hughes felt as if his heart was being torn, he held Avery Jane, her forehead bearing a streak of glaring red that slowly flowed down along her black hair, picking up her delicate body while shouting: "Quick, call a doctor....."

The housekeeper made calls, the maids dared not look up, they didn’t dare look at Joshua Hughes’ frightening expression, like a wounded Beast, seemingly wanting to pounce and tear anyone’s throat near him.

Her body was very cold, Joshua Hughes cautiously placed her on the bed, the forehead seemed to be an external injury, but her little face had already turned pale as if it might disappear any moment. Since she wasn’t here, he hadn’t lit the fireplace or turned on the heating, now even the bed was cold, he turned on the switch, warm air slowly blowing, yet the small hands of the person on the bed remained not even slightly warm. Her long eyelashes and pale lips made one feel heartache.
