Chapter 462: Chapter 401: Exposed

However, the three Supreme Elders’ mastery of this Skill was flawless. They could make it impossible for their subject to lie without even needing to sense for deception.

Against the combined power of three Grandmasters, Feng Suiyun was virtually powerless to resist.

Soon, he had confessed the entire affair from beginning to end.

The three Supreme Elders withdrew their Divine Sense, and Feng Suiyun collapsed to the ground in a heap.

A dead silence fell over the stone cave.

The expressions of the three Supreme Elders grew even graver than before, now tinged with a hint of shocked disbelief.

Under the effects of Sword Heart Clarity, it was impossible for Feng Suiyun to lie.

But it was this very truth that made the result all the more disappointing—and all the more baffling.

Aside from learning the identities of the contacts—Peng Anming, Vice Gang Leader of the Xinyi Bang, a gang subordinate to the Seven Kills Association; an old man with a goatee surnamed Bao; and a shifty-eyed man calling himself Xin Bai—and that they had agreed to shake off any pursuers before meeting in Thunder Shock County, they had discovered almost nothing about the mysterious powerhouse himself.

What the three Supreme Elders found most incredible was that after killing the Seven Kills Ancestor and seizing his possessions, the mysterious powerhouse had shown not the slightest bit of interest in the Seven Kills Association’s network of assassins, nor in this dilapidated Little World.

He had simply left, cleanly and decisively, as if it were all beneath his notice.

This completely defied all logic!

A Little World, even a dilapidated one, was valuable enough to drive any Spirit Realm Powerhouse—or even a first-rate Jianghu faction—into a frenzy.

If it had been any of them, and they’d had the power to kill its owner, they would have stopped at nothing to claim it. Why would anyone just walk away?

"This is... strange."

Sword Five Jiang Buyu was the first to break the silence, his brow deeply furrowed.

Sword Seven Ye Guhong spoke, his voice cold. "Hua Wuxin’s surrender was suspicious from the start. Given their situation, if they were truly under a restrictive spell as Feng Suiyun claimed, how would Hua Wuxin have dared to turn traitor so easily? I say the surrender itself is unbelievable! This might have been a trap from the very beginning!"

Sword Three Lu Hansheng tore his gaze away from Feng Suiyun, who lay on the floor like a boneless heap. "In any case, Thunder Shock County is our only lead. We must investigate this thoroughly and without delay."

His gaze swept past Imperial Physician Su before finally landing on Jian You and the other two Elders awaiting orders in the cave: Sword Fear and Jian Chen.

"Jian You, Sword Fear, Jian Chen. Each of you is to take ten disciples and depart for Thunder Shock County at once. Ascertain the situation. If anything unexpected occurs, good or bad, report back immediately via Secret Technique. There must be no delays or errors!"

"We obey."

Jian You, Sword Fear, and Jian Chen immediately took their leave.

After exiting the stone cave, they each gathered ten disciples and departed the Kao Mountain Cliff Little World, emerging on the slopes of Kao Mountain.

Outside, the endless plum rain continued to fall.

They had not been descending for long when Jian You suddenly stopped, raising a hand to halt the party behind him.

His gaze pierced the curtain of rain, fixed on an area of intersecting mountain paths below.

There, no fewer than twenty or thirty shadowy figures were milling about in the rain, their movements furtive and suspicious as they scanned the area.

Judging by their dress and demeanor, they were clearly from the Jianghu. Furthermore, they didn’t seem to be from a single group; they looked more like a motley crew thrown together at the last minute.

"Hm?"

Jian Chen’s thick brows shot up, a fierce glint in his eyes. "What scoundrels dare to spy on this place?"

Kao Mountain was remote, hardly a famous landmark. Aside from a few scattered villages, people rarely visited.

So what would a group of Jianghu martial artists be doing out in these desolate wilds, especially in this dreary, unending rain?

By the looks of it, they were searching for something specific!

An ominous feeling rose in the hearts of all three Elders.

The entrance to the Little World was well-hidden, but the Kao Mountain Wall area wasn’t vast. If determined people searched it repeatedly, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t find a clue or two.

Elder Jian You’s lips barely moved as he used Secret Transmission. "Let’s grab a few of them and get some answers."

Sword Fear and Jian Chen gave a slight nod.

Without a moment’s hesitation, the three Elders vanished, silently lunging toward the forest on the southern slope.

The strongest among the searching Jianghu group was merely an ordinary Spirit Realm master. They stood no chance of detecting the approach of three Grandmasters.

They only realized what was happening in a flash of horror as three figures appeared out of nowhere, instantly sealing their major acupoints.

"Masters!"

"Run!"

Those farther away reacted quickly. Hearing the commotion, they knew they were in trouble and scattered in a panic, fleeing in all directions.

Elder Jian You snorted. Without moving from his spot, he formed a sword with his fingers and jabbed them through the air toward the fastest escapees.

Several streams of invisible Sword Qi shot through the air, striking the vital points on the backs of their knees and spines.

A series of screams rang out as four or five figures collapsed, groaning in agony and unable to move.

Sword Fear and Jian Chen struck at the same time, their Sword Qi lacing through the air to stop another dozen men in their tracks.

In a flash, the majority of the twenty-odd searchers had been captured. Only two or three who were far enough away and quick on the uptake managed to use the cover of the forest and misty rain to scramble to safety.

The thirty disciples from the Celestial Sword Sect quickly arrived and secured the perimeter.

Elder Jian You’s frigid gaze swept over one of the swordsmen. "Who are you? What are you doing skulking around here?"

The swordsman’s eyes shifted nervously. "Seniors, this is a misunderstanding. We were just passing through, looking for a place to get out of the rain. That’s all."

But Elder Jian Chen just sneered, disdaining to waste words. He simply broke all four of the swordsman’s limbs.

"AAGH...!"

The swordsman shrieked in agony.
