Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 276 Awakening a Legendary Hidden Class
Chapter 276: Chapter 164: Awakening a Legendary Hidden Class
"Calling you Kazi makes us sound close, doesn’t it? After all, we’ve pretty much been through life and death together."
The Black Dragon Monarch glanced at him coolly. "Don’t try to get chummy with this Monarch. But you’re right about one thing: right now, you aren’t worth a single one of my Dragon Scales."
"Kid, there’s far more to this world than you can imagine. You’ve still got a long way to go."
Shen Xing nodded solemnly. "Thank you for the advice. I will."
Seeing his earnest expression, a flicker of interest appeared in the Black Dragon Monarch’s eyes. "Kid, do you have any idea what it means to have inherited the authority of the Five-Colored Dragons?"
"What it means..." Shen Xing repeated, confused. "Is there some special meaning behind it?"
The Black Dragon Monarch narrowed his eyes, observing him for a moment before chuckling. "You’ll find out eventually. You’re still weak; it’s not good for you to know too much."
"I see."
Shen Xing nodded in understanding, but he couldn’t help complaining to himself. ’Why is everyone I meet a damn riddler?’
’One day, I’m going to round up all these riddlers, hang them up, and whip them for three days and three nights. And then I won’t tell them why.’
The Black Dragon Monarch instinctively sensed that Shen Xing was probably cursing him in his head.
But now that Shen Xing had inherited the authority of two Five-Colored Dragons, the Monarch could no longer peer into his thoughts as he had before.
The Black Dragon Monarch didn’t press the issue, instead saying in a heavy voice, "Human... this battle has cost me dearly. I must enter seclusion to recuperate for a time."
"Farewell, then."
With that, he beat his sky-blotting wings, preparing to launch into the air.
"Wait, Kazidorite!?" Shen Xing quickly called out to him. "What about the reward you promised me?"
The Black Dragon Monarch looked back at him, his voice dropping even lower. "I expended too much this time. If I were to conjure my Essence Blood and a scale, my Power would plummet. I might even fall from my current realm..."
"How about this: the next time we meet, this King will give you your rewards."
His tone carried a hint of weakness, and his eyelids drooped slightly, as if he truly had little Power left.
A bitter smile touched Shen Xing’s lips. "Great Black Dragon Monarch, I understand your predicament, but things haven’t been easy for me, either."
"To rescue you from this tomb, I poured in all of my territory’s resources and troops. I brought nearly two thousand men here."
"But look... how many are left now?"
"In your eyes, they may just be a swarm of weak ants, but in mine, they are my unfailingly loyal subordinates who have supported me through thick and thin."
"If I return empty-handed, how can I possibly face the souls of these fallen heroes...?"
His voice was choked with grief, and tears welled in the corners of his eyes. The soldiers below were visibly moved, and they began wiping away tears of their own.
’Our Lord is a man of such great feeling.’
’He treasures even us, who are just newly summoned cannon fodder, and treats us like family. It is truly our honor to serve such a Lord.’
The corner of the Black Dragon Monarch’s mouth twitched. "This Monarch didn’t say I wouldn’t give them to you. I said *next time*."
"Fine... Since the Black Dragon Monarch is in a difficult position, we won’t force the issue."
Shen Xing didn’t refuse. Instead, he waved his hand, taking the bodies of the Beastmen out of his silk backpack one by one and arranging them neatly on the ground.
"Hellish Roar, take some men and dig graves here in the Dragon Tomb. We will build a hero’s barrow for these Warriors."
"They are all Warriors who gave their lives in this Dragon Tomb. It is only right that they be buried in the land where they fought. It’s just..."
A flash of sorrow crossed Shen Xing’s eyes. "It’s just that I can no longer bring them back to the warmth of our territory, to see the families they so dearly missed."
The eyes of the other Beastmen reddened, and tears streamed down their faces.
"Enough!" the Black Dragon Monarch finally snapped.
He waved his Dragon Claw, and four items flew out.
They were a scale the size of a washbasin, a drop of pitch-black blood, a glowing orb of light, and a coffin-like chest.
Shen Xing snatched them all at once.
[Obtained: Blood of the Black Dragon Monarch x1]
[Obtained: Black Dragon Monarch Scale x1]
[Obtained: Shadow Dragon Nest (Boss★★★) x1]
[Obtained: Giant Dragon’s Secret Collection x1]
...
Looking at the four new treasures in his pack, Shen Xing felt a surge of intense joy, but his face remained a mask of grief.
"Great Black Dragon Monarch, your word is as reliable as your Power," Shen Xing said solemnly. "Now, I can finally face their families."
"It’s just... there is still the matter of your clansman, the Black Dragon Soul sealed within the ring..."
"Even as just a Soul, she used the last of her will to guide me here and help you break the seal. About what you said before, about helping her be resurrected..."
The Black Dragon Monarch’s expression stiffened. "Resurrecting the Dragon Soul in this ring would require a massive amount of my Power of Origin to forge her a new body."
"I... I have expended too much... I truly don’t have the means to resurrect her right now..."
"I see..." Shen Xing nodded again. "I know, the great Black Dragon Monarch truly has little strength to spare."
"It’s just... I heard her say once, in a dream, that she wanted to see this world with her own eyes again, to look upon the Monarch she once revered."
"Alas, I wonder if she will ever get that chance..."
Shen Xing took the crack-riddled ring from his pack and stroked it gently, his eyes filled with sorrow.
The Black Dragon Monarch looked at the ring, then at the hundreds of pairs of eyes staring at him from behind Shen Xing, and felt like this whole day was cursed.
"This King truly lacks the power to forge a new body for her, however..."
His tone shifted as he said gravely, "This King can consolidate her True Spirit. You will then just need to place it into a new vessel."
"Place it into a new vessel... What does that mean?" Shen Xing asked, confused.
"It’s exactly as it sounds. Find a Tier Three body and merge her Soul into it," the Black Dragon Monarch explained. "A body from any Race will do, but it is best if the fusion happens while it is in a living State."
"This way, she can be resurrected with all her memories intact. Her Power will just be slightly diminished."
"However, I must warn you. Once the fusion is complete, the Dragon Soul will completely take over the new body."
"In your terms, it is what you would call ’possession’."
Shen Xing was startled and asked instinctively, "That’s so evil?"
"Resurrecting the dead is, in itself, an act that goes against the rules of the world."
The Black Dragon Monarch said slowly, "In this world, to gain something, something must be lost. The only question is who bears the cost."
Shen Xing fell into thought, feeling that Kazi’s words held a deeper meaning.
After only a moment, he made his decision. "Then please, Black Dragon Monarch, help me consolidate her True Spirit. I’ll find a suitable body for her later, so she can see this world one more time, and..."
"Shut up."
The Black Dragon Monarch impatiently summoned the ring over. He made a grasping motion with his Dragon Claw, and a black, illusory Soul slowly drifted out of the ring.
With a light tap, he infused a stream of black Energy into the Soul, causing its illusory form to become incredibly solid.
Then, he waved his hand again, and the Soul automatically floated back into Shen Xing’s hands.
"Kid, I’ve now fulfilled all of my promises to you."
The Black Dragon Monarch’s weak voice sounded again. "If you ever encounter an enemy you cannot defeat, you may chant this King’s name three times. This King will then strike once on your behalf."
He paused, then added, "But don’t call for this King anytime soon. You’ve completely drained me. It’ll be useless if you call."
Shen Xing nodded solemnly and bowed. "Farewell, great Black Dragon Monarch. I look forward to you returning to your peak strength soon!"
The other Beastmen followed his example, bowing as well. "Farewell, great Black Dragon Monarch!"
Kazidorite gave Shen Xing one last look, then beat his enormous wings and soared high into the sky.
As he flew, however, his enormous body staggered a few times in the air.
Everyone watched the massive black shadow until it disappeared over the horizon.
