Chapter 38: Chapter 35: Actual Combat: Berserk Beastman

"You three, the match is about to start. Please head to the stage."

It was noon. Shen Xing and the others were in the break room, making their final preparations before the match.

After hearing a knock on the door, the three of them removed their glasses simultaneously.

"How are your preparations coming along?" Qin Lang asked.

"So-so."

"Just about."

"..." Qin Lang was speechless for a moment, then looked at Shen Xing. "What’s our strategy? Are we just going to brute-force it head-on?"

Shen Xing was silent for a moment before replying, "Same as always."

Qin Lang and Xu exchanged a look and nodded.

Then, the three of them walked out the door together.

Outside, Zhou Zheng was already waiting for them.

He smiled and instructed, "Do your best out there. Don’t hold anything back. I’ve secured some benefits for you, so don’t let me down."

The mention of "benefits" piqued their interest.

This time, the match was taking place in Battle Zone 8, located near a corner. A considerable crowd had already gathered around it.

Everyone had heard that this match was a showdown between two of Jiang City’s elite teams, so they were all looking forward to it.

A moment later, Qin Lang came onto the stage, pushing Shen Xing in his wheelchair. With them was a girl with dark circles under her eyes, wearing pink pajamas and pink bunny-ear slippers.

This strange trio immediately sparked a wave of discussion among the crowd.

"Huh? This is one of Jiang City’s elite teams? They’re all new faces I’ve never seen before."

"And there’s even a disabled person. How unusual."

"It is strange. Doesn’t this game have 100% synchronization with your real body? If he can’t walk, how does he even survive in the game?"

Most of the discussion centered on Shen Xing. After all, his physical condition was certainly unique.

About three minutes later, their opponents took the stage.

Like Shen Xing’s team, they were also a group of two guys and a girl.

However, the opposing team didn’t look very old. Their faces still held a youthful innocence, suggesting they were likely students.

But each of them carried a particular air, and their words and actions were poised and proper.

’Yep, they must be rich.’

’Or at least from well-off families. They’ve probably been around high-society types for a long time and picked up this demeanor.’

There was no pre-match trash talk, nor was there any cliché scene where they underestimated Shen Xing because of his disability only to be proven wrong.

On the contrary, every one of them wore a serious expression, showing that they took this match very seriously.

Above the battleground, an LCD screen flashed with a countdown.

5...

4...

3...

When the countdown hit zero, a middle-aged man standing to the side announced in a deep voice:

"The match officially begins! All contestants, summon your Soldier Types!"

The three opponents raised their arms simultaneously. Their Fog Flowers began to spin rapidly, spewing out a thick fog.

When the gray fog dissipated, a distinct figure appeared before each of them.

On the left was a tall Dark Elf Archer with wheat-colored skin, holding a longbow. Elite★.

On the right was a spear fighter clad in light armor and wielding a Knight’s Lance. Elite★.

The most unique was the figure in the center.

He held a Tower Shield and stood over two meters tall, giving off an unshakeable, heavy presence.

An Iron Armor Shield Guard, Elite★★.

This team composition could be called perfect, balancing ranged attacks, a tank, and burst damage. In the early stages, they would be virtually unstoppable.

Most Novice Lords who faced them would be instantly crushed.

Shen Xing’s trio exchanged a glance and also raised their arms, their consciousnesses connecting to their Fog Flowers.

"Come out!" they all called out.

"Dahou!"

"Moon Arrow!"

"Ying!"

When the thick fog cleared, three familiar yet somewhat different figures appeared before them.

They were an Elite★★ Beastman Warrior, an Elite★ Half-Elf Assassin, and an Elite★ Human Race Archer.

The three teammates looked at each other, knowing smiles appearing on their faces.

"Damn, both teams have an Elite Two-Star Soldier Type! They’re both pretty strong!"

"For real. They’re Jiang City’s new generation of elites, after all. Their combat power seems about even, though. I wonder who’ll win."

"My money’s on the three students. That Two-Star Iron Armor Shield Guard is just too much to handle. There’s no way to break through it in the early game."

"I think I recognize the guy who summoned the Iron Armor Shield Guard. His older brother is the Extraordinary Level Lord, Luo Xichen."

"No wonder he got his hands on such a Rare Soldier Type. So he has an Extraordinary Level brother."

The crowd buzzed with discussion, speculating on the outcome of the match.

However, most people favored the team with the Two-Star Shield Guard.

Even Zhou Zheng, standing at the side, frowned slightly. The hand he had tucked into his windbreaker pocket clenched unconsciously.

After all, the Iron Armor Shield Guard was no ordinary Soldier Type. It was extremely Rare and couldn’t be recruited from a Unit Nest.

They could only be obtained through a Recruitment Scroll or by subjugating native inhabitants of the Land of Mist.

It was precisely because of the rarity of this special class of Soldier Type that their price was so exorbitant.

A single Recruitment Scroll cost as much as a Unit Nest of the same tier. The average Novice Lord couldn’t afford one at all.

On the field, all three members of Shen Xing’s team felt a special connection form in their minds after materializing their Soldier Types in reality.

It was as if they could control every single move of their Soldier Types with their thoughts.

As mentioned before, once a Soldier Type materialized in reality, it required a constant drain on the Lord’s Spiritual Power to maintain its existence.

Likewise, the Lord could also control the Soldier Type’s actions through this spiritual link.

This was a completely different method of combat compared to the game.

THUD! THUD-THUD!

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed as the Iron Armor Shield Guard raised its Tower Shield and pressed forward with overwhelming momentum!
