Building an Eternal Dynasty: The Eternal Legacy System
Chapter 179: Victor Steps Into the Web of Karma
Victor Steps Into the Web of Karma
Everything ceased to exist.
"If I want to kill you, even the gods and Buddhas themselves cannot save you..."
Victor’s indifferent voice was the last thing the Lunar Saint ever heard.
Then silence swallowed everything.
A veteran Lunar Sovereign expert had fallen.
A genuine Lunar Saint.
He was not some half-baked Lunar Sovereign like Alaric Bluestone. He was a true powerhouse. A cultivator who had spent countless years tempering himself in the Law of War.
His strength had been forged through endless battles.
His experience was deep.
His understanding of combat was even deeper.
Yet none of it had mattered.
Victor had stood before him at the Stellar Sovereign Realm.
And Victor had crushed him with ease.
There had been no desperate struggle.
No drawn-out battle.
No chance for the Lunar Saint to turn the situation around.
The difference in strength had simply been too overwhelming.
The battlefield fell silent once again.
Even the people who had witnessed the battle found themselves unable to speak.
Austin stared at Victor.
His expression was complicated.
Nux’s red eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at their Patriarch.
Even Damien remained unusually quiet.
None of them had expected this.
They had known Victor was powerful.
They had followed him for long enough to understand that their Patriarch was far from ordinary.
But knowing someone was powerful and actually witnessing that power were two completely different things.
Just moments ago, Victor had stood before a genuine Lunar Saint.
Now that same expert was dead.
And Victor had barely looked as though he had exerted himself.
A faint chill passed through Austin’s heart.
Nux’s expression became even more serious.
Damien’s gaze remained fixed on Victor.
The same thought appeared in all of their minds.
Their Patriarch was far more terrifying than they had imagined.
What truly frightened them was not even Victor’s current strength.
It was the path behind that strength.
Victor had only reshaped the Stellar Sovereign Realm.
That was all.
He had taken a realm that countless cultivators had followed for generations and forged it according to his own understanding.
Yet even at this stage, his combat power had already reached such a terrifying level.
Then what would happen when he continued ascending?
What would happen when he reached the Lunar Sovereign Realm?
What about the realms beyond it?
If every realm was rebuilt according to Victor’s own path, just how monstrous would his foundation become?
No one could imagine it.
Not Austin.
Not Nux.
Not even Damien.
Perhaps Victor himself was the only person who had any idea where this path could eventually lead.
And that thought alone was frightening enough.
The moment the Lunar Saint’s life vanished, something suddenly changed.
The cyan jade token hanging from his waist began to tremble.
At first, the movement was barely noticeable.
Then it became violent.
The token shook harder and harder.
BOOM!!
A strange sound erupted from the void.
It was not loud.
Yet the moment it appeared, everyone’s expression changed.
The surrounding space seemed to become heavier.
Then countless threads began emerging from the darkness.
Karma.
Thin threads of karma appeared from nowhere.
They were almost transparent.
Under normal circumstances, they would have been nearly impossible to notice.
But Victor could see them clearly.
Every thread carried an indescribable pressure.
It was not the kind of pressure that crushed the body.
It touched something deeper.
The soul.
The very moment Victor’s gaze landed on those threads, his golden eyes narrowed.
"The Law of Karma..."
His voice was quiet.
There was no fear in it.
Only recognition.
The karma threads moved.
Slowly.
Patiently.
They crawled through the void like countless pale serpents searching for their prey.
Then they began moving toward Victor.
They were not fast.
In fact, they were painfully slow.
Yet that slowness made them even more unsettling.
There was something absolute about their movement.
Something inevitable.
Victor shifted his position.
The threads followed.
He changed direction.
They followed again.
No matter where he moved, they continued approaching.
No matter what technique he used, they continued advancing.
They did not care about distance.
They did not care about obstacles.
They did not seem to care about space itself.
It was as though an invisible hand had already written the ending.
And now the world was simply moving toward it.
That was the most terrifying aspect of the Law of Karma.
It did not necessarily need to defeat you through brute force.
It could establish the cause.
Then use the cause to determine the effect.
Or even use the effect to create the cause.
Once the connection was established, escaping became incredibly difficult.
Victor stared at the approaching threads.
His expression remained calm.
But his eyes became slightly colder.
This was only the Law of Karma.
A single Great Law was already this troublesome.
If the Law of Karma evolved further and became the Great Law of Karma, its terror would reach an entirely different level.
At that level, karma could reach across the River of Time.
A person could potentially be erased from the very moment of their birth.
Not merely killed.
Not merely destroyed.
Erased.
As though they had never existed in the first place.
That was the true horror of such a law.
It did not simply target the present.
It could reach backward.
It could touch the roots of existence itself.
And now, those threads were trying to establish a connection with Victor.
Then—
A majestic voice suddenly echoed from within the endless strands of karma.
The voice carried no anger.
No shouting.
No desperation.
It was calm.
Almost arrogant.
"Your killing of my family’s Supplicant has already set the karma."
The threads trembled.
The invisible pressure surrounding them grew heavier.
The voice continued.
"Your best choice is to end yourself before the gates of our Greamory Divine Clan."
The voice carried immense authority.
It was not truly speaking from this place.
It was a message carried through karma.
Victor’s expression did not change.
"Divine Clan... quite the arrogant title."
There was even a faint trace of amusement in his voice.
The threatening voice did not respond.
Because it was never truly present.
It was merely a warning carved into the karma threads by some supreme existence.
The threads continued moving.
Once they attached themselves to someone, everything that person did would be laid bare before the Greamory family.
Their movements.
Their actions.
Their choices.
Their secrets.
All would eventually become visible.
Until the Greamory family destroyed them—extinguishing the effect and severing the cause—only then would the karma finally end.
Karma.
The most troublesome.
The most inescapable.
The hardest to sever.
Yet Victor did not retreat.
He did not even raise his hand.
Instead, he stepped forward.
Toward the approaching threads.
Austin’s pupils shrank.
Nux’s expression changed.
Damien’s face turned pale.
WHOOSH—!!
In an instant, the karma threads sank into Victor’s body.
Countless invisible "threads" connected themselves to him.
They extended beyond the present world.
Beyond visible space.
Beyond ordinary perception.
They seemed to exist somewhere between cause and effect, tying Victor to an unseen future.
"No!! Patriarch—those are karma threads! You mustn’t touch them!!"
Damien was horrified.
His voice rang across the battlefield.
In his past life, he had been the Quick-witted Lord.
Though his cultivation had never reached the heavens, he had traveled far and wide in pursuit of the Eternal Tribulation Sword.
He had seen ancient inheritances.
He had encountered terrifying cultivators.
He had witnessed secrets that ordinary people could never imagine.
And among all the things he had learned throughout that life, there was one truth he understood better than most—
once karma truly took root, escaping it was never simple.
Yet Victor had willingly stepped into it.
Damien stared at his Patriarch, his heart pounding violently.
He had no idea what Victor intended to do.
But he knew one thing.
The moment those karma threads entered Victor’s body, something enormous had begun.
And there might be no turning back.
