Chapter 273

The moment Alex finished speaking, the familiar system panel appeared before his eyes with Its very familiar blue interface flickering once like an old phone screen, before expandimg into a larger window that displayed his now updated information.

[Ding! Spatial Storage Space has now been expanded by 1 km3.]

Alex studied the panel, impressed by the huge increase in his attributes. His strength stats had passed ten thousand, while his speed, agility, and perception had risen by similar amounts. The difference between this and when he was still in Ascendant Realm was ridiculously insane.

"Ten thousand? Now that’s quite a jump."

He flexed his fingers, sensing the power beneath his skin. He also noticed that his senses had sharpened too, allowing him to notice the hairs on an ants legs and the distant calls of animals from distances he would have never dreamed possible. His eyes moved down the panel, confirming that Claire’s World Erasing Fire had been added to his skills. He would test each ability carefully, one at a time.

It was a good thing that the breakthrough had also improved more than the amount of energy he could use.

The new rank also meant that his abilities should have grown stronger. He wanted to check the limits of Eye of Chronos and how far Void Step could go, but testing every skill at once here wouldn’t be as good as doing it in the Training Realm. The training realm was the best place to start, especially since he could fight without worrying about destroying a city, and he’d also be improving his battle iq and experience.

Then Alex eyes drifted lower to the Desire Energy part of the panel causing him to draw his eyebrows together.

"Wait a minute. Two out of five thousand?"

He stared at the number, then checked it again as though the system might have made a mistake. Unfortunately, It had not. His Desire Energy had been almost completely emptied by the breakthrough, and the amount required to reach the next rank was far higher than before.

Previously, each time he entered a new realm, the amount needed had increased by around three hundred points. That had already seemed like a noticeable rise, but the requirement had now jumped straight to a whooping five thousand. He needed almost 4,998 more Desire Energy before he could even dream of advancing to the Transcendent Realm.

"That’s quite a lot," he said, rubbing his chin.

Alex considered the distance between his current level and the next. The Master Realm was already beyond the reach of most Awakened, but the Transcendent Realm was said to be something entirely different. From what he had pieced together from multiple sources and from his trusty but annoying system, Transcendents should be the realm where one transcends the will of the world, reaching complex concepts that ordinary Awakened could not even begin to understand.

"Five thousand is a lot," he muttered, "but I suppose reaching the next realm shouldn’t be easy."

Even the strongest nations in the world treated Transcendents like they are gods. Most Awakened never even reach Master, talk less of Transcendent. After all, the number of Transcendents in the world were only a few handful.

Alex, however, was not particularly worried about such issues since he had a much more reliable way of gathering Desire Energy than ordinary Awakened had of gathering Primordial Essence. As long as he continued interacting with women and developing the relationships that fed his system, he could steadily fill the bar. Sure It might take some time, but it was not an impossible goal.

Unlike those who had to risk their lives searching for rare resources or wait for a fortunate opportunity, he knew exactly what he needed to do.

"It’s only a matter of time," he said with a faint smile.

"And World Erasing Fire," he added quietly. "I still need to see what you can really do."

He remembered the system’s warning that the ability had not reached its true potential. Its flames could burn through almost anything, but the full nature of the skill would only become clear when he reached the Transcendent Realm. That made him even more curious about the future, although he had no intention of relying on an ability he had not properly tested.

It was a really good thing that his Spatial storage space just increased by that much. The extra kilometer in his Spatial Storage Space was also welcoming, giving him room for far more materials and equipment. After checking the remaining details, he dismissed the panel.

"System, I want to enter the training realm."

The tiny gremlin appeared beside him, floating in the air with her usual playful expression.

[Trying to test your new strength already are we? You only just finished breaking through, Alex. Shouldn’t you take a little rest first or something?]

Alex gave her a look.

"Rest can wait. I need to understand how much stronger I’ve become, and I also need to get used to controlling my new level of power. I don’t want to make a mistake in a real battle because I haven’t adjusted to my own strength."

The system tilted her head, then nodded.

[Yeah yeah, Fair enough. Since you’ve reached A Rank, the training realm will also adjust the opponent’s strength to match your current level. You should be careful, though. The training opponents won’t hold back just because you just broke through]

"That’s exactly what I want."

[Alright, then. I’ll send you in]

The system raised one tiny hand. A transparent countdown appeared in front of Alex, and the numbers began to decrease.

[Three....Two.... One.]

[By the way good luck]

The moment the countdown reached zero, the scenery around Alex changed as he was warped into the training world. The once luscious mountain forest vanished, replaced by a dark landscape beneath a dull red sky. Black jagged stones covered the ground, and stretched out for miles with no end in sight.

Alex glanced around. The system seemed to have changed the training realm to suit his opponent. He didn’t even get to finish thinking when a heavy pressure descended from ahead, making the ground itself vibrate. Something strange and bloodthirsty clung to the aura, as though the air itself had been infected.

Alex slowly raised his head and calmly looked at the huge creature responsible, standing several hundred meters away.

It resembled a giant demonic spider the size of a small house, with a swollen abdomen covered in dark red plates. Its long legs ended in sharp points that left cracks everytime it moved, and its eight eyes glowed a bloodthirsty red. Black mist leaked from gaps in its armor, making the stones beneath it lose their color and crumble.

[Opponent: The Cursed Decay Abomination]

[Realm: Master]

Alex read the information and narrowed his eyes.

"So this is the kind of opponent the system chooses to prepare for me? I can’t say I’m flattered can I? But still, couldn’t that blasted gremlin have given me more info like its abilities and the likes. Sigh. At least judging by the name, one of it’s abilities probably had something to do with decay."

The monster’s aura spread across the land without restraint. It was clearly at the Master Realm, and the pressure coming from it was strong enough to make most Awakeneds collapse before it even had the chance to fight.

Alex studied its legs, body, and the black mist leaking from its armor. He could not identify its other abilities by sight, but he knew better than to assume its size and decay was its only threat.

The abomination suddenly lifted its front legs.

A terrible screech burst from its mouth, rising into the red sky and shaking the ground around it. The sound was so harsh that cracks spread across several nearby stones. Then its body lowered, and all eight legs moved at once.

It charged. Despite its size, the creature moved with shocking speed, its legs sending chunks of stone flying as it charged. Black mist spread behind it like a poisonous cloud.

Alex’s lips curved upward. Watching the beast charge recklessly toward him made his blood boil with excitement. He was eager to test his new strength against an opponent like this.

So clenched his right fist, he urged the bastard to come closer.

"Come on, then."

The abomination screeched again and lunged toward him, its front legs rising like enormous spears of spiky destruction. It only made Alex grinned coldly before he decided to charge forward to meet it head-on.

Meanwhile, back in Seoul, the red destructive pillar of Primordial Essence that had risen above Annie finally began to disappear.

The crimson light contracted toward the ground, and the powerful waves of energy that had swept through the surrounding area like a tidal wave gradually began to settle down, leaving Annie standing at the center of the damaged ground, still looking stunned by the whole thing.

She opened and closed her hands, still struggling to believe what had happened. She had only recently reached Ascendant and expected to spend who knows how strengthening her foundation before even dreaming of breakingthrough to the fabled Master Realm. Yet she had entered the Master Realm in a single day.

Disbelief and excitement crossed her face. She could definitely feel that her Primordial Essence felt deeper and heavier than before, and not only that but it responded to her thoughts with greater ease. She could sense her surroundings in a new way, and the city even seemed fragile beneath her power.

The strongest members of the Heukryeon Organization were only at the Ascendant Realm. That had always been the limit of the organization’s known power.

But things were different now. She of all people had now surpassed everyone of them.

With her current strength, she was confident that she could easily destroy a powerful organization like Heukryeon on her own if she truly wanted to. The thought was almost unbelievable, but the power flowing through her body made it difficult to deny.

Annie slowly lowered her hands and took a steady breath. The change in her strength was still settling, and she could feel that her control would need time to catch up with her new power. Even so, the difference was clear. The people who once stood above her were no longer unreachable figures. No matter what she had now crossed the barrier that had once held back countless Awakened, and her place in the organization would never be the same.

Before she could think further, Annie sensed several auras approaching her position at high speed.
