Caesar's Moon
Chapter 122 - 121: Deception
Chapter 122: Chapter 121: Deception
Hours later after the sparring session between Caesar and AJ, Caesar stood in a small building among her flyer crew, wearing a blue promotional tee and cap along with black leggings and sneakers.
In front of the crew was Mr Pulpsack’s fiancee who was wearing a white colored version of the shirt and cap.
Mr Pulpsack’s fiancee crossed her arms, staring at the ground with a solemn demeanor.
"Years ago, my fiance... Aldis Pulpsack... And I started the promotion together." The fiancee said, "We were barely making any progress but he didn’t give up... He never did.
After pushing forward and gaining success, he became the guy who many companies sought out to promote an event for them."
The fiancee sighed and continued.
"I wasn’t there when he was becoming successful because of my illness. It restricted me from moving but I still encouraged him to keep going and not abandon his work.
This year when I regained my ability to walk again and after my time of rehabilitation, I was so excited to be my Aldis’s side."
"It was this year he got engaged to me." The fiancee said as she stared at the ring on her finger, "Went from being my boyfriend to my fiance.
I was happy... So happy that I could be by his side and work with him again... Only to get his testicles crushed by that big bastard and end up in a coma..."
"All because some idiot decided to chuck a whole flyer through the window of that guy’s car while he was driving." She continued as some of the crew subtly glanced at Skhini, "A speeding car for that matter."
"But I’m not here to waste our time on talks." The fiancee said as she raised her head, "I told you in the hospital that I will be taking charge while he is in there, and I told you in the group chat that we’ll be starting today.
I’ve only met you guys but I haven’t worked with you, so I’m looking forward to that. I hope we can get along."
"For a professional act, allow me to reintroduce myself: My name is Anna Markos." The fiancee said as she straightened her stance and placed both hands behind her back, "The sneakers company Bodias has paid us to promote their anniversary and we are to distribute these flyers to the masses and make them care.
I hope it will be a pleasure working with you all. Let’s do our best."
"And please, if you are getting any bright ideas of throwing a whole flyer through a speeding car window or anything stupid... ’Dont’." Anna continued speaking as she side-eyed Skhini.
"Let us try to be professionals and avoid any other act that might repeat itself or possibly get someone incapacitated." Anna said as Skhini brought down his head in guilt, "Or even killed. I can’t afford any of that."
"Now, I’m done... Let’s move out." Anna said.
The crew dispersed but while they were walking, Caesar halted and took notice of Skhini staying behind while grinning fearfully at Anna from afar , who at the moment was glaring daggers at Skhini with intense hatred.
Meanwhile as AJ Zero was driving his delivery bus on the road, he recalled the words of Caesar earlier during their training.
"You have people that are relying on you.
Your step sisters who are relying on you as the oldest to look after them.
With your parents in this situation, you are basically the man of the house.
If you are going to still stay in this then you can’t afford hesitation.
You can’t afford softness.
Not on your life
Not on the lives of your sisters or parents."
After remembering her words, AJ sighed.
"I know.." AJ whispered to himself.
AJ slowed down and stopped to observe the sign on his left that showed "Aehunin street".
This led him to take a quick look at the screen of his phone and see:
[Street: Aehunin]
[House number: 47]
[Customer: Sydney Morgan]
After the glance, AJ set his phone aside and continue driving.
However when he had finally arrived at the sign that showed "No 47", he took notice of the abandoned building behind it which left him confused.
AJ drove forward a little and observed the other house after it and the sign in front which showed "No 48", confirming that the former was the assigned house for delivery.
This led AJ to exhale and backtrack to the house.
Minutes later as AJ was carrying a big brown box in his hands, he stood in front of the building and stared at it once again , observing how old and forgotten it was looking.
While he was observing, he took notice of a crow resting on one of the upper windows on the left.
After staring at it for a while, the crow cawed and flew away.
As AJ had gotten close to the door step, he placed the box on the ground and stepped forward a little to reach for the doorbell.
At the very moment his finger got close, he froze.
A strong chill ran through his spine and his hand shook intensively.
He suddenly entered an entranced state that made his irises glow and see mangled corpses beside him.
Startled, the lad involuntarily took a step back but quickly shook his head to snap himself out.
AJ’s face turned pale. He took a glance at the package he was sent to deliver and the bus behind him.
However, he exhaled once again and reached for the doorbell to press it.
As soon as it rang, the door opened and in front of him stood an old woman with dark skin and pale yellow hair.
AJ stared at the woman in confusion for a moment until she smiled and spoke.
"Hello, young man. How can I help you?"
AJ shook his head to regain his composure.
"Uhm... Sorry.... Uh ... Good afternoon. I was sent here to Aehunin street number forty-seven to deliver a package to... Sydney... Morgan?" AJ said, "Are you her?"
"Of course, I am." The old woman answered.
Sydney took notice of the package and the ground and smiled once again.
"I believe that is the package I asked your company to deliver for me?" The woman asked, "The uhm ... What is that thing you young bloods call it again?"
"Play House Five. The PH-five gaming console." AJ answered.
"Ah, yes. The PH5." Sydney said, "I haven’t had any visitors for years and my grandson is coming here tomorrow.
So I decided to buy him something that will make his stay worthwhile."
"I see." AJ said.
The two stayed silent for a time until AJ spoke.
"I’m... Going to need you to... Uh... Sign this package before I take my leave..."
"Surely you do not expect an old lady like me to carry this heavy package in by myself?" Sydney asked while smiling with her eyes closed, "Come now, it’s not nice to do that."
AJ nervously grinned at her words and waved his hands swiftly.
"N-no, it’s not that-"
"I understand." Sydney interjected, "The house... It scares you, doesn’t it?"
"Hm?" AJ said as he slightly tilted his head.
Sydney sighed and took a glance at her house.
"They say it once belonged to a serial killer." Sydney said, "They say she was less than a person... Some sort of demon.
A young woman with a disturbing history of violence.
She was among the criminals of the great pardon and wherever she went, there was this evil feeling that followed.
Because of that no one wanted to buy or stay in the house. I bought it because it was cheap ... And I’ve lived in worse places during the wars, so it will take more than a little ’haunted’ house to scare me."
"So please can you be a dear and help me take it upstairs?" Sydney continued as she returned her sights back at AJ, "I’ll sign the package and try to give a review."
However AJ stared down at the old lady and she chuckled.
"Heh. Back in my days, Nega-13 was the ground breaking console, now it’s ’PH-5’.
Time really is strange, right?"
"Uhm... Right..." AJ replied as he forced himself to grin.
"Let me... Uhm... Bring the package here so you can sign before I carry it upstairs." AJ said as he turned to the box behind them.
At the very moment he turned, he saw a crow standing on top of the package which made him stiffen while his irises glowed.
The crow peered at AJ for a moment before it flew away.
Later as AJ was walking behind Sydney in her house with the PH-5 package in his arms, his eyes carefully moved, observing his surroundings while Sydney was talking.
In the middle of his observation, AJ noted the cracked walls with molds on it, old and worn out furniture and even the cobwebs on the walls.
As they had climbed the stairs and reached the top room, Sydney brought out her keys and chuckled.
"Oh heavens. I cannot wait for tomorrow. To see my little grandson and his face when he sees the PH-5!" Sydney said as she turned her gaze at AJ.
AJ smiled back at her, leading the old woman to chuckle again and turn back to open the door.
"And here you go..." Sydney said as she stepped aside for AJ to enter, "Just place the PH-5 here and all will be done!"
AJ walked into the room and dropped the PH-5 on the ground, however as he turned his head to the left, he saw Morgan Qrow sitting on a chair with one leg crossed.
AJ’s irises glowed with shock while Morgan peered at him with her soulless gaze.
"You did well, Madame Katherine. You may leave." Morgan said.
"Madame Katherine?" A confused AJ asked in his heart.
AJ looked over his shoulder and saw the supposed Sydney Morgan whose face had become cold, bowing her head in obedience.
The old woman walked away, leaving AJ alone in the room with Morgan.
"Now she’s out, it’s just two of us now." Morgan said.
AJ snapped his head back at Morgan and she slightly tilted her head to the left.
"Let’s talk." Morgan said as her irises glowed.
