Chapter 128: Chapter 127: What Happened

Caesar walked down the streets during the cold night, both hands in her pockets as her mind was swarmed with thoughts and her face filled with guilt.

While walking, memories poured all over her of the time she stood earlier in different medical rooms, staring down at her flyer co-workers laying unconscious in the hospital bed.

After remembering her time there, Caesar brought her head down and talked in her heart.

"It’s my fault... All of it.

I spent so much time preparing AJ for his opponent but I didn’t prepare for mine.

If I had put as much effort as I had in helping AJ to research and get better, then maybe I would have been able to prevent this or better still reduce the tragedy of what happened today."

Caesar’s mind raced back to earlier at the moment she had stepped out of the hospital and her phone rang in her pocket.

As she brought it out to peer on her screen and see who was calling, she scowled as it appeared to be Akari Mizukai.

After staring at her screen for a moment, Caesar answered the call and placed the phone on her ear.

"Hello." Caesar said.

"Good evening, dear. How are you doing?" Akari asked through the phone, "I hope all is well, especially with what just ’happened’ today. Oh, I must say, that lunatic was quite entertaining to watch especially with how he was hurting you. It of course, turned me on and it created a buzz!

It seems you have a thing for going viral when you are being destroyed.

Oh and yes, I did know he was your opponent for this coming Thursday. I knew about it for a long time, after all, I registered you in that company as my family’s ’client’."

"Does it make you angry? Are you angry, dear?" Akari asked as Caesar’s expression had turned blank, "Serves you right. After all, I have told you on a few occasions to download the EBW app or sign into their network but you still haven’t, correct? Because if you had you would have known on time."

"And now, the tragedy that befell those ’poor’ souls is now on your head" Akari continued as Caesar clenched her fist, "Anyway, I just you to know that I have ensured that your little maniac will not be arrested by the police and made sure that no form charges will be pressed against him. Can’t have anyone interfering with this upcoming match.

Plus, if you look at it, your crew were the aggressors. He didn’t attack them first, they attacked him. All he did was attack a fellow ero-wrestler who had a contract of consent ’signed’ for her and warned them not to interfere."

Akari let out a small chuckle and continued.

"I must be going now. I still have some business to finish. In the meantime, I’d be looking forward to your match on Thursday... My little... Ero-doll."

After the remembrance, Caesar continued speaking in her heart.

"She’s right. No matter how much I hate her or hate what she said, that sick witch is right. This is on me and me alone."

"Still though..." Caesar went on in her mind as she furrowed her brows, "She never said anything about Cedric or him being my teacher.

She never made mention of what Owen said in that street. With what he said earlier, especially about him being Cedric’s son, that should have been enough to say something, yet she didn’t... Why?

Why didn’t she speak about it? Is it that she is not bothered? Is it that she is privately investigating or is that she knew all along and kept quiet?

If it’s the other two options, then Balland... Damnit."

Caesar’s breathing became ragged. She took a steady breath to ease herself before exhaling.

"I need to focus. Balland could be in serious danger but I need to focus, right now." Caesar said to herself, "I need to do some research on Owen. Learn more about him. How he moves, how he fights... Everything.

But to do that, I need to learn the root of his problem and what better person is there to learn from than his father... My teacher, Cedric Gray."

Caesar whipped out her phone from her pocket and went through her contacts until she found the name Cedric Gray on her screen.

Caesar clicked on it and watched her phone ring for a time.

As soon as the call was answered, Caesar placed the phone on her ear and spoke.

"Hello?" Caesar said.

"Hello, Caesar." Cedric said.

"Good evening, Cedric." Caesar said.

"Good evening." Cedric replied, "I take it you called concerning my other son, Owen, right?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I did." Caesar answered.

"Just as I thought. I saw the video." Cedric said, "The video where he told you that I’m his father, that I trained you... Or ’picked’ you over him as usual and beat the dog shit out of you and your coworkers.

Never thought I’d see a Mizukai client working among a flyer crew."

"What’s the issue between you and Owen?" Caesar asked as she walked towards a wall and leaned her back against it, "Especially with the whole ’chose over him’ thing?

I know this isn’t how you wanted to be dealing right now especially since you are at your other son’s wedding... Whom I assume is sane, but I need to know what I’m dealing with."

"No, it’s okay." Cedric responded, "And you’re right... This isn’t what I wanted to be dealing with.

Truth be told, I wanted to call you and congratulate you on your victory against Damien Bane and also congratulate you on your win in that triple threat match against Eren Brock and Cassius Gold.

Likewise I wanted to call AJ and congratulate him on surviving Magoi (thought he’d be a dead man in the ring) and beating Sol, but I had to focus more on my family.

I had to focus on helping my son build one of the best moments of his life which is his wedding and try to fix my relationship with my ex."

Cedric sighed and resumed speaking through the phone.

"Why did Owen have to come back, now? After all these years?"

Caesar stayed silent for a little while and asked:

"Cedric, what happened between you and Owen? What is going on between you and your son?

If I’m to get to the root of all this, I need to know what and who I’m dealing with here."

"Yeah... You do." Cedric replied, "This isn’t gonna be easy for me."

Cedric sighed again and continued speaking.

"Owen and I don’t have a good history together, but that’s something you obviously know especially with what happened on the streets between him and the guys you were working with.

If I said our relationship was bad, that would be an understatement, but you can say the blame for what he became falls on me and I’d accept it."

"Cedric... What happened?" Caesar asked as she narrowed her eyes.

"Things, Caesar... Things." Cedric answered, "Things that should not have happened. Things that should not have been said, and lines that should not have been crossed.

And because of that, a damage that seems irreparable was created and trust between father and son was broken... All because of the business of EBW."

"Cedric..." Caesar said softly.

"Give me a moment, I need to go somewhere and sit. Just a moment." Cedric said.

Cedric had spoken, Caesar took notice of people walking past her and some taking subtle glances at her.

Among the people taking glances, a group of people who were subtly looking at Caesar from afar murmured among each other.

"That’s the chick that got her ass beat on live camera."

"Again?"

"Yeah, again."

"It seems they always seem to catch her getting beaten up."

"That’s twice it happened."

"I gotta ask, what the hell is a Mizukai pet doing among a crew that shares flyers? Shouldn’t she be ... I don’t know, living in a mansion or something?"

"Yeah, maybe she should."

"Who cares?"

"Why are you guys talking about that slut, anyway? Aren’t there better things and people to talk about instead of degenerates who enter a ring to jack each other off?"

"Yeah... I’m actually going to agree."

"The funny part is that that degenerate makes more bread than you." One of them replied as Caesar rolled her eyes.

Caesar turned her attention away from the group and moved her sight towards a painting on a wall that showed a beastfolk woman holding the hands of two little human boys.

Seeing that, Caesar’s face softened.

"Alright!" Cedric’s voice sounded through the phone, drawing Caesar’s attention back, "Sorry I took too long. The space I usually stay alone was occupied so finding another took some time."

"No problem." Caesar replied.

"As I was saying... The relationship between Owen and I went to hell and it’s all because of me and how far I took it." Cedric said, "If you want to know what happened then listen carefully,

because you’re going to learn the history of how an unusual child grew up and became..."

"The decayed." Cedric continued as Caesar’s irises glowed.
