Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 176: Vegetables
The upgrades proceeded so quickly that she didn’t even notice how dramatically the farmland was transforming.
Her attention was focused almost entirely on the Merit Points she could earn from selling vegetables.
’This is practically a loophole!’
She couldn’t help feeling excited. ’I’d better make use of it before the system realizes what’s happening.’
With that thought, she continued upgrading the farmland.
Before long, it had reached Level Ten.
.......................
Inside the agricultural space, the farming spirit was resting in his small house.
He had been waiting for Ni Mengxue to suffer the consequences of her reckless spending.
However, when he sensed the sudden changes in the farmland, he immediately sat upright.
"What?"
He frowned. "Why is the spiritual energy increasing so quickly?"
Before he could understand what was happening, another powerful fluctuation spread through the farmland.
His expression changed. "Don’t tell me..."
He immediately rushed out of his house.
The moment he saw the farmland, he froze.
The entire area had undergone a tremendous transformation.
Previously, the soil had been light brown and somewhat ordinary in appearance.
Now, it had turned completely black.
The rich, dark soil seemed almost glossy beneath the light, and a faint layer of agricultural energy hovered above the fields.
Even more astonishing was the growth of the crops.
Vegetables that previously required considerable time to mature were now growing at an incredible speed.
Tender shoots emerged from the soil, rapidly developing into healthy plants.
The farming spirit hurriedly opened the farmland’s statistics. The moment he saw the current level, his mouth fell open.
"Level Ten?"
He stared at the information in disbelief.
"How is that possible?"
He had expected Ni Mengxue to make gradual progress.
Instead, she had somehow upgraded the farmland to a level that even experienced cultivators would struggle to achieve.
After checking the statistics again, he couldn’t help muttering, "Unbelievable!"
He shook his head. "This girl, who always seemed like such an airhead, has actually done it."
His expression became complicated.
"She reached a level in such a short time that took me five whole years to achieve."
For a long moment, the farming spirit could only stare at the transformed fields.
.........................
Meanwhile, Ni Mengxue was smiling happily at the system interface.
[Farming Plot.
Level: 10
Growing Speed: Speed (20x)
Quality: Rare(Tier-1)
Soil: Rare (Epic Tier-1)
Farming Spirit: Active]
Seeing the final statistic, she almost laughed aloud.
As long as she planted ordinary vegetable seeds, she could now harvest the mature crops within an hour.
’Doesn’t that mean I can keep restocking the shop throughout the day?’
She quickly calculated the possibilities.
With such a short growing cycle, she could produce far more vegetables than before.
Even if the shop sold out several times a day, she would no longer need to worry about running out of stock.
"Looks like I won’t have to worry about the vegetable supply anymore."
Ni Mengxue smiled with satisfaction.
Naturally, she became curious about what would happen if she upgraded the farmland beyond Level Ten.
However, when she checked the requirements for the next upgrade, her smile immediately stiffened.
[Farmland Upgrade: Level 10 → Level 11. Required Merit Points: 100,000]
"One hundred thousand?"
Ni Mengxue stared at the number.
The cost had increased far more than she expected.
Although she was earning Merit Points through vegetable sales, she couldn’t afford to spend such a large amount on a single upgrade right now.
After considering it for a moment, she decided to stop at Level Ten.
’There’s no need to rush.’
The farmland was already producing vegetables at an astonishing rate.
Instead of spending all her Merit Points on another upgrade, she could invest them in unlocking additional agricultural facilities.
She opened the list of available features.
Several options immediately caught her attention.
There was a seasoning cultivation area, where she could grow various spices and cooking ingredients.
Another section was designated for breeding livestock.
There was also an orchard area intended for cultivating fruit trees and other perennial crops.
However, one particular option made her pause.
[Mutated Beast Area]
Ni Mengxue frowned.
Previously, she had assumed that this section would unlock some kind of combat training ground where mutated beasts could be fought.
However, after seeing the other agricultural facilities, she began reconsidering that assumption.
’What if this isn’t a combat area?’
Her eyes flickered.
’What if it’s actually meant for raising mutated beasts?’
The thought seemed strange at first.
After all, mutated animals were generally dangerous and difficult to control.
But considering that the space already contained farmland, livestock facilities, and orchards, a specialized breeding area wasn’t entirely unreasonable.
’Perhaps the system will let me raise mutated animals and collect resources from them.’
If that was the case, the feature could become extremely valuable.
However, Ni Mengxue suspected there might be some hidden conditions.
Otherwise, why would the system list mutated beasts separately from ordinary livestock?
She decided to investigate the feature later.
For now, she had a much more profitable opportunity right in front of her.
She returned to the farmland and began planting another batch of vegetables.
As soon as the crops matured, she harvested them and transferred them to the vegetable shop.
Then she planted another batch. The process continued repeatedly.
Each successful sale added more Merit Points to her account.
’If the system is going to reward me for selling vegetables, then I might as well make full use of it!’
Ni Mengxue worked with increasing enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, outside the space, the residents of Fair Shallow Land were going crazy.
The residents of Fair Shallow Land had never imagined that fresh vegetables would become so easily available.
Although the prices weren’t exactly low, they were still incredibly affordable compared to what other bases charged.
Some families purchased as much as fifty catties of vegetables in a single day.
Yet even after buying such large quantities, they discovered that they could return to the shop and purchase more.
There seemed to be no limit at all.
At first, the residents could hardly believe their luck.
Then, gradually, some began having other ideas.
