Chapter 3147: VR-Slime Card Update

After going through the collective knowledge stored in the Infinity Library on childbirth, newborn care, and maternal health across the Myriad Realms, I realized I didn’t need to reinvent the entire system from scratch.

I already had something that could handle most of it.

The VR-Slime Cards.

So I decided to update them.

Using the VR-Universe, I pushed a comprehensive software and knowledge update to VR-Slime Cards throughout the Card World. The update would allow them to conduct pregnancy checkups directly at home, monitoring both the mother and her unborn child without requiring a trip to a medical facility for every concern.

The VR-Slime could analyze the mother’s physical condition, nutrition, vitality, and soul-energy levels while simultaneously tracking the baby’s development. If it detected something abnormal, it could explain the problem and recommend dietary changes, home remedies, exercises, or other appropriate measures. More serious cases would come with clear instructions about when professional treatment was necessary, while emergencies would trigger immediate guidance on what actions needed to be taken.

With the knowledge gathered from the Infinity Library, I also upgraded its childbirth protocols. In situations where a midwife wasn’t available, the VR-Slime could help the mother through labor and assist with the delivery while continuously monitoring for complications.

That alone would make the update valuable, but its existing ability to help people digest soluble soul energy in monster meat made it particularly useful for pregnancy.

With its assistance, mothers could safely obtain the nutrients and soul energy contained in suitable monster meat. That nourishment would benefit not only the mother but also the developing child, giving the unborn baby exposure to soul energy while still in the womb.

They could essentially unknowingly begin practicing Active Soul Control Percentage before they were even born.

And monster meat wasn’t the only option. Milk, honey, eggs, and other animal-derived products could provide valuable protein, nutrients, soul energy, or some combination of the three. The VR-Slime could help incorporate them into the mother’s diet according to her needs.

Then there was the Silver Milk Powder that would soon enter the market.

With that available as another source of nutrition and soul energy, prenatal care in the New Empire would have access to considerably more resources than it had before.

I also expanded the VR-Slime’s physical therapy functions to cover pregnancy and postpartum recovery. It could help the mother’s body change during pregnancy and help her gradually regain mobility, strength, and vitality after childbirth.

The result was essentially a single household assistant capable of covering most ordinary pregnancy concerns from conception through recovery.

More importantly, none of this required me to create a perfect baby.

I was simply giving parents better tools to ensure that the child they already had was given a healthy environment in which to grow.

The VR-Slime was capable of far more than what I had currently asked of it. After all, it had originally been designed to take care of Card Apprentices’ bodies while their consciousness remained inside the VR-Universe for hours or even days at a time. Maintaining their nutrition, physical condition, hygiene, recovery, and other basic needs while they were effectively absent from their bodies was already part of its original purpose.

Taking care of a pregnant woman throughout her pregnancy, and then helping her recover afterward, wasn’t exactly a revolutionary challenge by comparison.

It simply required the right medical knowledge, pregnancy-specific protocols, and enough data to account for the differences between races and cultivation realms.

Once those were added, the VR-Slime could handle most of the routine work automatically while alerting the mother or a medical professional whenever something fell outside its capabilities.

And I wasn’t planning to make this update exclusive to the Card Apprentices of the New Empire.

The entire population of the five regions would receive it too.

Technically, they weren’t all citizens of the New Empire yet, but that was only a matter of time. I had no intention of building a system that served only the people who had already crossed the political line while leaving everyone else waiting on the other side.

These regions were eventually going to become part of my Empire, then their people would eventually become my people. There was little reason to make them wait for the benefits.

Besides, pregnancy wasn’t something restricted to Card Apprentices or high-level cultivators. It was a concern that affected mortal families, too. And it just so happens VR-slime cards could be equipped by Iron Grimoires.

The more people who had access to reliable prenatal care, the fewer parents would have to discover a complication only after it had become dangerous.

And if I could turn something as common as a VR-Slime Card into a household guardian for mothers and newborns, then I might as well let everyone benefit from it.

The New Empire was still young.

Its borders, institutions, and systems were all developing.

But if I was going to bring five entire regions into it, I wanted to make sure they were inheriting more than a new flag and a new ruler.

They should inherit the advantages that came with becoming part of the New Empire.

Also, it would make it much harder for the royal families and the central government to ban the VR-Slime card. Not that they weren’t already trying to do so subtly, but none of their actions could stop people from secretly using VR-Slime cards.

Also, this way, the citizens wouldn’t have too much trouble adapting to the coming changes. I would first make them citizens of the New Empire in their minds, and then in their bodies.

As for the fifth batch of Card Apprentices, I planned to return the merits they had spent, along with an introduction to the new features of the VR-Slime card. They would get their merits back and a chance to see what the future had to offer before making their choice.

As for the Card Apprentices who couldn’t stomach this solution, tough luck. They could make their choice, but they should also be prepared for a full investigation.

I had no intention of tolerating a potential Demigod Norley or Crown Prince Thalorien in my New Empire. I needed citizens who could live under my rule without secretly working against it. If someone couldn’t accept the direction I was taking the empire, that was their right.

But if they chose to undermine it from within, forgetting morality and ethicality, that was an entirely different matter.
