Chapter 632 - 371: Cleaving the Sky and Rending the Storm
With a loud BOOM, the spot on the Airship where Chen Chuan pushed off exploded. The entire vessel shuddered, and he plummeted downward at high speed.
A furious wind howled, whipping his hair and clothes violently backward from the intense pressure. He smashed through one cloud after another as they appeared before him.
After falling for some distance, the wisp of crimson glow behind him flashed, instantly pulling him into a Rift. A vast expanse of bright light suddenly appeared before him, and he seemed to merge right into it.
It felt like an eternity, yet also like the very next moment. The bright light suddenly shattered, and he was back in the outside world. But just a moment later, the crimson glow pulled him back into a Rift once more.
This light-speed transit repeated several times. When he emerged from a Rift for the final time, he was already hovering above the Ferris Wheel.
In his eyes, the structure now appeared as a vertical vortex of intense, radiant light. Countless white filaments gushed out from within, converging upon a single entity.
It was a colossal being, appearing to be over two hundred meters tall. Its lower body was like a gushing current of air, flowing and expanding outward, while its upper half coalesced into a mass of spiraling, tentacle-like structures. They coiled and uncoiled, expanded and contracted, causing the entity’s entire form to shift and change.
It radiated intense, multicolored light from within, bathing the sky and sea in a brilliant spectacle.
Multiple glowing, eye-like orbs dotted its spiraling tentacles. Its surface was veiled in layer upon layer of shifting air currents that had the texture of liquid. The clouds around it swirled into unnatural formations, surging and clustering together to hold it aloft above the coast.
But Chen Chuan knew this was all still illusory and unstable. It was the entity’s Domain projected from another world, a physical manifestation of its consciousness. If not dealt with quickly, however, this projection would become terrifyingly real.
The being seemed to sense something. Its body reared back, and the eyes on all its spiraling tentacles tilted upward in unison. It appeared to be preparing an attack, as countless dense specks of light began to flash in the center of its many spirals.
But at that very moment, an invisible force erupted from the ground beneath the Ferris Wheel Building. The power surged skyward, and in the glow of the vortex, it looked like a pillar of light ascending to the heavens.
Simultaneously, twelve points of light flashed into existence at twelve different locations across the peninsula, forming an intricate connection.
Drawn by this network, the pillar of light reached its apex and suddenly fanned out. It transformed into innumerable descending threads, forming a cage that trapped the massive being inside.
The great vortex, the being itself, and all the surrounding strange phenomena froze for a split second.
Chen Chuan fixed his gaze on the massive being. He raised both hands, hoisting the Snow Monarch Blade high.
At this moment, his mind was more focused than ever. Guided by his powerful will, he drew a force from another world down into the body of his blade. It merged with a power already dwelling within the sword, erupting in a dazzling radiance.
The time was now exactly twelve o’clock. His Second Self instantly recovered to its peak state. The crimson haze also seemed to sense the shift, infusing his body with an unparalleled power. The light from the Snow Monarch Blade suddenly erupted, shooting out more than ten meters in an instant!
His power and spirit soared to an unprecedented peak. Trailing a haze of crimson and white light, he raised the blade’s radiant aura—a light that seemed capable of cleaving the very clouds—and slashed down from the sky with the force of a falling meteor.
In the next instant, the blade crashed down upon the very top of the entity. The dazzling light of the sword cleaved through the vortex and the massive being, carving a straight path downward until it slammed into the ground with a tremendous BOOM.
To those watching from afar, it looked as though a slightly curved bolt of crimson and white lightning had descended from the sky. It tore through the murky mist and searing light to strike the ground. After a momentary pause, a ball of brilliant light erupted from the point of impact, so blinding that everyone squeezed their eyes shut and reflexively threw up their hands to shield them.
Everyone felt a powerful shockwave rushing toward them from the horizon, threatening to push them backward. A deafening howl filled their ears.
After some time, once the intense light had begun to fade, everyone opened their eyes again.
Someone gasped involuntarily, "Look!"
As everyone looked up, their faces filled with astonishment. The Ferris Wheel, standing over two hundred meters tall by the coast, looked as if it had been cleaved down the middle by an invisible blade, a massive gash running through its center.
After a moment, it began to groan and screech. Supports buckled and components rained down as the two halves slowly pulled apart. Sparks flashed from the tear, accompanied by the shriek of twisting metal. Billowing dust and ceaseless tremors shook the ground as the two halves, before the shocked eyes of the crowd, finally tilted and toppled, crashing down with devastating force.
The half that landed on the shore threw up clouds of dust and debris with a thunderous RUMBLE. The other half plunged into the sea, sending up a colossal pillar of water and spray. White foam and waves churned, crashing against the coast again and again. Even those watching from a distance felt the mist splash against their faces.
In every department monitoring the battle, the light screens projected by the Domain Creatures became shaky and blurred, making it impossible to discern the situation at the epicenter.
Even so, everyone stared intently, unwilling to miss a single detail. Most of them were filled with anxiety and unease; they desperately needed to know the outcome.
After a while, the interference finally began to fade. The light screens stabilized, and as the dust and mist slowly cleared, the scene within was at last revealed in full. Everyone who saw it involuntarily held their breath.
A massive crater, like one left by a meteor, now scarred the peninsula’s surface. It was so large that seawater was already seeping in from the edges. Amid the slowly dissipating dust, a lone figure stood.
Chen Chuan stood in the center of the crater, holding the pose of his final two-handed slash. Wisps of white smoke ascended around him, and a crimson glow swirled about his body.
Opposite him stood Wu Qi. The countless Compound Eyes on its head and chest stared unblinkingly at him. Behind it loomed the even more colossal spiritual manifestation. The entity seemed to eclipse the entire world, the innumerable glowing eyes on its spiraling tentacles all fixed on Chen Chuan.
But Chen Chuan met its gaze without a shred of fear.
They stood in a standoff for a moment. Then, the spiritual phantasm shuddered. With a faint, resentful howl that was almost imaginary, it slowly dissipated into a swirl of air.
Once the phantasm had completely vanished, Wu Qi seemed to regain control of its body. It involuntarily twitched, but that single movement was accompanied by a sharp CRACK as a fissure split open across its forehead.
The fissure revealed no Mutated Organization, no flesh and blood—only a dry, scorched blackness.
The crack raced downward, reaching the bottom of its torso. First, half of its head fell away, followed by a wide shoulder. Its body was like rotted wood, crumbling and falling apart chunk by chunk.
With a final CRACK, its powerful legs snapped, no longer able to support the massive frame. The entire body disintegrated, crashing forward and kicking up a billowing cloud of dust as innumerable dry fragments slammed into the ground.
Once he saw that it had completely collapsed, Chen Chuan flicked his blade clean and slowly straightened his posture. The lingering air currents from the clash began to disperse the sea fog. Countless gray fragments were caught in the wind, dancing and fluttering around him like snowflakes.
Farther away, Xu Chan and the others had sensed something was wrong moments before and had already retreated to the perimeter, though they hadn’t left the area entirely.
Their chests heaved as they watched the shocking scene from afar, their eyes fixed on the figure standing there, blade in hand.
They knew someone was responsible for delivering the final blow, but they had never imagined it would be executed in such a spectacular fashion.
To be honest, a moment ago they had all but assumed the operation was a failure.
After a long pause, Xu Chan calmed his racing heart. He looked from the ruins of the sundered Ferris Wheel to Chen Chuan, recalling that heaven-shattering strike of peerless courage. He slowly breathed a single word: "Beautiful."
Inside the combat command center, everyone watched the scene unfold. After a long, tense silence, the room suddenly erupted in cheers.
A synthesized voice announced through the speakers at the perfect moment: "Active Consciousness Body Domain has disappeared. Incursion by the unknown external entity has ceased. Confirmed: target has been eliminated and expelled. Based on departmental feedback and assessment... Operation Horizon is complete."
These words triggered an even louder wave of cheers.
Specialist Liang, standing on the second-floor overlook, let out a sigh of relief, the tension draining from his face as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
But he immediately composed himself, his expression turning stern once more. He said in a low voice, "The Fumu schism isn’t over yet. I need every department to stay sharp."
But his words lacked any real severity.
"Yes, sir!" everyone shouted in reply, though they couldn’t suppress the smiles on their faces.
’They had just eradicated the Ferris Wheel Company’s active Consciousness Body *and* that massive entity. The Fumu schism might still be ongoing, but could any remaining internal threat possibly be greater than those two?’
After that single reminder, Specialist Liang said no more. He thought for a moment, then turned to his female assistant. "Send a medical team to Old Xu’s group and Captain Chen. Make sure they’re alright."
As long as Third Limit Fighters were alive, their injuries would eventually heal. But they had been in close proximity to that entity, and it was hard to say if there were any lingering ill effects. A thorough examination was necessary.
He paused, then added, "Tell them to take care. They are pillars of Dashun. Once this is all over, I will personally request commendations for their service."
