Celestial 'War God' Return
Chapter 482: Situ Chengyan And Dugu Xinyue Warning
"Mother? Why are you here?" Zhao Xuenning, who was packing up some of her personal belongings, asked.
Song Yuzhen approached her daughter and helped her pack. "Has your father told you about the situation?"
"Yes." Zhao Xuenning nodded. "He told me that the demon race kidnapped my second cousin, and he asked me to stay in the sect and not come back here for a while."
Song Yuzhen let out a soft sigh. "Your father and I suspect that the demon race’s movements this time have something to do with Song Tiankun and Liao Yexue. Besides, your cousin, Song Chenglin, often looks at you with lecherous eyes. We’re worried they will make a move against you, so we want you to stay in the sect for your safety."
Zhao Xuenning’s expression turned serious after her mother mentioned Song Chenglin. When they were little, he wasn’t that kind of man, but he changed as they grew up and became who he is now.
Among all the members of the Song and Shangguan Clans, Zhao Xuenning had always been wary of Song Chenglin. She had long been aware of his twisted and crude character, and he had tried to do something bad to her in the past, so she had always avoided him.
Although she was never directly involved in royal affairs, Zhao Xuenning often listened to her parents’ conversations. She knew many stories about Song Tiankun and Liao Yexue, including their connections to Shenwu Huxiao and the demon race.
Zhao Xuenning sighed deeply. "I understand, Mother. I will return to the sect after this, and I won’t return to this palace if you two don’t ask me to return."
"That’s good." Song Yuzhen patted her daughter’s head. "You are our only daughter, so we don’t want anything bad to happen to you."
Zhao Xuenning pouted. "Why don’t you ask my father to get you pregnant again? You two are still young, and I also want to have a little sibling."
"Haha." Song Yuzhen laughed awkwardly. "Do you really want a little sibling?"
"Of course!" Zhao Xuenning raised her voice a little. "I want a little brother, so you should ask my father to get you pregnant once the situation has calmed down."
Song Yuzhen smiled. "I’ll discuss this matter with your father later, but I can’t guarantee that your little sibling will be a boy."
"I know."
After Zhao Xuenning finished packing, Song Yuzhen escorted her back to the Nine Profound Sect, worried that Liao Yexue might make a move against her.

"Grandpa!" Huangfu Lingxuan looked at his granddaughter, Huangfu Meizhen, who was walking briskly towards him. "What on earth actually happened? Why did Emperor Xuanyuan let the demon race kidnap Song Tianlin?"
Huangfu Lingxuan shook his head. "Meizhen, I forbid you to interfere in this matter, and you should focus on taking care of the sect and your family."
"Hmm?" Knowing her grandfather well, Huangfu Meizhen was certain that Huangfu Lingxuan was hiding something from her. She believed Song Tianlin’s abduction was not as simple as others thought, and she was convinced that someone else was involved. "Does this matter have anything to do with Tang Xiao?"
"No." Huangfu Lingxuan firmly denied his granddaughter’s guess. "I hope you can understand my decision, Meizhen. Emperor Xuanyuan forbade me from discussing this matter with anyone else, including you. You don’t need to worry about Song Tianlin; the demon won’t be able to do anything to him."
"Are you sure about that, Grandfather?" Huangfu Meizhen’s expression was very serious when asking that.
Huangfu Meizhen never liked Song Tianlin, but he was her brother-in-law, and her husband was worried about his safety.
"Have I ever lied to you?"
"Never."
Huangfu Lingxuan nodded slightly. "Since you know that I never lie to you, you should believe me this time. This matter is a little complicated, and it has something to do with the future of the Song Kingdom. Song Tianlin will be fine, and he will return to this kingdom safely one day."
"Does this matter have anything to do with Song Tiankun and Liao Yexue?"
"Kind of." Huangfu Meizhen raised an eyebrow, as she had previously guessed that they had nothing to do with Song Tianlin’s abduction. "Meizhen, order several elders to protect Zhao Xuenning."
"Zhao Xuenning?"
"Yes." Huangfu Lingxuan nodded. "The situation in this kingdom is unstable; I’m afraid Liao Yexue will kidnap her, so you have to protect her."
Huangfu Meizhen was confused by that. "Why do you think Liao Yexue will kidnap Zhao Xuenning?"
"Her son."
"Song Chenglin?"
"Song Chenglin doesn’t have as much ambition as his parents, but he’s not a good man. His character is crooked and crude, and he uses women like toys." Huangfu Meizhen had long known this, but she didn’t expect him to set his sights on Zhao Xuenning. "Apart from her, Zhan Yiran and Shangguan Qingyue are his targets, but the latter is in Zhang Fei’s hands."
Huangfu Meizhen’s expression turned furious after Huangfu Lingxuan said that, especially since Zhan Yiran was her best friend. Naturally, she would never allow Song Chenglin to touch her best friend, and she would cripple his cultivation if he dared to do so.
Huangfu Meizhen contacted several elders from the Nine Profound Sect and ordered them to protect Zhao Xuenning. "Even if Liao Yexue and Song Chenglin are members of the Song Royal Family, I will cripple their cultivation if they dare touch Zhan Yiran."
"You can do whatever you want to them, but you have to wait for them to move first."
"I know." Huangfu Meizhen nodded. "What about Shangguan Qingyue? The one in the sect isn’t the real her, right?"
Huangfu Lingxuan had guessed from the start that his granddaughter would notice. "You’re right about that, but I don’t know how Tang Xiao managed to do it, so I can’t explain it to you."
"That kid is too scary, and I sometimes feel afraid of him."
"As long as we don’t stand on the opposing side, you don’t need to be afraid of him."
Huangfu Meizhen could not understand why Huangfu Lingxuan and Xuanyuan Lingtian cared so much about Tang Xiao. She admitted that he was an exceptional cultivator with his golden aptitude, but she felt their concern for him was excessive.
Emperor Xuanyuan was even willing to bring Xuanyuan Yueyao closer to Tang Xiao and fully support him. Although Huangfu Lingxuan was unwilling to admit it, Huangfu Meizhen was sure the matter of Song Tianlin’s abduction was related to him, and she guessed it had something to do with Mu Qingge.
Huangfu Meizhen remembered Song Tianlin coming to see her when they joined her sect, and he came specifically to ask about Mu Qingge. Besides, Tang Xiao captured Shangguan Qingyue because of her, which invigorated her suspicion that he was the mastermind behind Song Tianlin’s abduction.
’Having a smart granddaughter can be a hassle sometimes,’ Huangfu Lingxuan said to her again. "You should return to the royal palace now, and I want you to monitor Song Tiankun and Liao Yexue’s movements. They might not dare to do anything for now, but I’m sure they’ll make a move soon."
"Okay." Huangfu Meizhen flew away from the Huangfu Clan residence, but her heart felt heavy. After all, Song Tianzun was already her husband, and Song Tianlin was his little brother, but she couldn’t tell her husband about him. ’Sigh! All these problems are really troublesome!’
Huangfu Lingxuan sighed softly after his granddaughter left. "You must endure everything for a while, Meizhen. When all the problems we face are resolved, this kingdom will gain peace, and you will become its queen."

Situ Zengyan and Pan Yuezhi were shocked the moment they saw Situ Haorui walking behind Situ Chengyan, and his unusual expression gave them a bad feeling.
"Father, what—"
"I’m warning you for the last time! Stop interfering in Lingxi’s life!" Situ Chengyan’s cold voice and gaze caused Situ Zengyan and Pan Yuezhi to freeze in their tracks. "If you two continue interfering in her life, I won’t hesitate to expel you both from this clan, even though you two are my son and daughter-in-law. Do you both understand?"
Situ Zengyan was speechless; they couldn’t understand the reason behind Situ Chengyan’s protective attitude toward Situ Lingxi. Moreover, she was his birth daughter, and he felt entitled to determine the best future for her, but his father had other ideas for her.
Pan Yuezhi couldn’t help lowering her face when Situ Chengyan cast a cold glance at her. She dared not utter a word to contradict her father-in-law. Although she had long been a daughter-in-law of the Situ Clan, her influence within the clan was negligible, and she lacked a powerful backer like Murong Xianyin.
"What happened, husband? Why are you so angry?"
Situ Chengyan turned to Dugu Xinyue, who was walking towards them. He pointed to Situ Haorui, who was covered in cold sweat. "Our stupid son sent him to keep an eye on Lingxi."
"Hmm?" Dugu Xinyue looked at Situ Haorui for a moment before looking at Situ Zengyan and Pan Yuezhi. "Yuezhi."
"I... I’m here, Mother-in-law." Pan Yuezhi answered with a trembling voice.
"Don’t think we are unaware of your schemes, Yuezhi." Seeing Pan Yuezhi’s frightened expression, Dugu Xinyue couldn’t help but sigh. "Our Situ Clan doesn’t need a daughter-in-law who thinks about her own ambitions, let alone one who thinks about sacrificing other members. If you still want to be part of this clan, you should stop plotting against the other members, especially Lingxi. If you are unwilling to change your character, you must leave this clan, and we will remove Situ Qingze as the main heir of this clan. Do you understand?"
Pan Yuezhi’s face turned deathly pale, beads of sweat streaming down her face. "I... I understand, Mother-in-law."
’Ugh.’ Situ Zengyan’s heart jolted. "Mother, I—"
"What a useless son." Dugu Xinyue hugged her husband’s arm and pulled him away.
