Chapter 2632 - 2640: I Forgot

"Isn’t this a bit excessive? Pregnant women aren’t made of tofu," Jane Sampson reached over and poked James Black’s mask, and he thought she was going to take it off. Instinctively, he turned his head to avoid her, but Jane Sampson just pinched his ear playfully twice before she turned around, satisfied, to wash up.

Jane Sampson didn’t have a late-night snack last night, so she was hungry quickly in the morning. This was the first time she’d gone to the dining hall so early for breakfast since coming to the base.

The young comrades at the dining hall were surprised to see Jane Sampson arrive so early.

"Sister-in-law, you’re here! What do you want to eat today? How about some freshly made soy milk? Or peanut soup? Maybe two meat buns?"

"I want soy milk!" Jane Sampson replied cheerfully, "Two meat buns aren’t enough, I also want a boiled egg."

"Sister-in-law, it’s hot. You go sit next to me, and I’ll bring it over to you in a bit," one of the young comrades said with a cheerful nod.

"I’ll do it." James Black gestured to the side for Jane Sampson to go sit, then he went to get the breakfast Jane Sampson ordered and brought it over to her first.

Jane Sampson was indeed hungry; she bit into a meat bun before James Black arrived, and its flavor secretly delighted her.

Thinking about how Julie Sampton should have arrived last night, Jane Sampson made a call to Bright Sampton. But she forgot it was still very early, and Bright Sampton wasn’t awake yet.

When Bright Sampton answered with a clearly sleepy voice, calling her "Sister," Jane Sampson teased him. "What time is it, and you’re still sleeping?"

"Sister, are all pregnant women as energetic as you? It’s only 6:30! 6:30 in the morning! Do you know what 6:30 means? In the past, if I dared to call you at 6:30 a.m., you’d come at me with a kitchen knife!"

"Oh, I forgot." Jane Sampson replied, "What time did you get home last night?"

"2:30," Bright Sampton calculated directly over the phone, "Got home at 2:30, took a bath, went to bed at three, so I’ve only slept three and a half hours before you woke me up."

"Sorry, sorry, I’ll pay more attention to the time next time." Jane Sampson hadn’t felt guilty earlier, but she genuinely felt she acted poorly now.

"So, why did you call me? What’s the matter?" Bright Sampton asked.

"Just wanted to ask if Julie Sampton told you anything," Jane Sampson said. "You slept so late, so I’ll ask later. You go ahead and sleep well, we’ll talk after you wake up."

With that said, Jane Sampson quickly hung up the phone.

Bright Sampton was sleeping quite well, but after Jane Sampson’s call and a few words, no matter how relaxed his heart was, he couldn’t sleep anymore once he thought of his father in prison.

Bright Sampton felt that Jane Sampson was born to give him grief.

When James Black returned to his seat, Jane Sampson had already put away her mobile phone, but James Black still chastised her, "Unless it’s urgent, don’t make a call during meals."

"Hmm, I just suddenly remembered to ask Bright Sampton if Julie Sampton told him anything last night, but I forgot it’s only 6:30, too early to call. So I let Bright Sampton continue sleeping," Jane Sampson laughed mischievously, "I just wonder if he can still sleep."

Having said that, Jane Sampson herself felt like she might be quite a bad person.

"With more experiences, Julie Sampton’s brain is clearer than Bright Sampton’s." James Black commented lightly, then comforted her with a sentence, "Don’t worry."
