Chapter 2786: Stolen

  • Next Chapter

As the countdown was underway, Jane Sampson directly approached the anxious General Manager standing backstage and requested the surveillance video.

“I hope Manager King can understand the feelings of my aunt and me. Please make a copy of the surveillance video for us.” Jane Sampson said.

Jane Sampson was uncompromising.

At this time, Manager King’s assistant came rushing over in a panic. Seeing the person, General Manager King hurriedly asked, “Did you find the person?”

The assistant shook his head, sweating profusely, and pulled General Manager King into the corner.

“Manager, I’ve verified, and today no pregnant madam attended our auction event, and one more thing.”

The assistant’s expression changed drastically as he continued, his voice trembling, “Manager, something’s wrong! The vase is missing!”

“Vase? Which vase?” the General Manager instinctively asked.

“Which vase could it be! The one donated by Jane Sampson that fetched more than thirty million!” The assistant anxiously slapped his thigh, “We’ve already called the police, but they haven’t arrived yet.”

“What about the CCTV? Check the CCTV quickly! Who took it? Who took it? The key is in my hand, I’m the only one with the key!” The General Manager hurriedly reached into his pocket and pulled out a bunch of keys; counting them, none were missing.

The General Manager was dumbfounded, “Aren’t the keys right here in my hand? How did the vase go missing?”

“Manager, the CCTV over there has been tampered with; the Technical Department is trying their best to restore it, so there’s temporarily no manpower to check the surveillance at the entrance to the girls’ restroom.” The assistant glanced over at Jane Sampson and said, “General Manager, perhaps we should discuss this with President Black?”

“Go get the Vice President over here, have him privately negotiate with the buyer who purchased the vase, I’ll handle President Black.” The General Manager was drenched in sweat.

On stage, Brooke Black also had lost patience, handing the microphone back to the host, and walked directly off the stage toward the General Manager, asking, “Where’s the surveillance?”

The short question carried not a hint of softness.

The General Manager wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, lowering his voice as he explained to Brooke Black. Unable to conceal it, he told her about the theft of the vase.

“President Black, I am so sorry, I didn’t expect such a major blunder to occur today. The most critical task right now is recovering the vase, the Technical Department is short-handed, so I ask for your understanding. For now, please take a brief rest, and as soon as I handle this matter, I’ll immediately address Miss Sampson’s issue.”

The General Manager reconsidered and amended, “Or you both could go back and wait, once I’ve resolved this here, I’ll immediately have someone send the surveillance video to President Black.”

After saying this, regardless of whether Brooke Black might be offended, the General Manager called over a subordinate to attend to Brooke Black and hurriedly left.

Though the keys were clearly in his possession, the vase was stolen, leaving the General Manager bewildered, so he needed to rush to the scene and take a look personally.

These rare treasures sent for auction were always stored in a specific safe box before being showcased, the key to which only he possessed and always kept with him.

After the auction pieces were displayed, they would be immediately returned to the safe to be secured until after the auction ended when the buyers arranging purchase would liaise with the auction house before they are taken out again.
