CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 2788 - 2806: Cold Joke
"You’re a genius," Jane Sampson praised Oscar Wilson, utterly impressed.
"The stolen auction item was indeed the one you donated, right? Don’t worry, I’ll be there in 20 minutes at most. When I, Oscar Wilson, step in, there’s no chance of failure. Just wait; I’ll come and help you catch the person who almost crashed into you." With that, Oscar swiftly hung up the phone, apparently driving.
Jane Sampson put away her mobile phone, turned to James Black and the others, saying, "Oscar is already on the way here; he knew what happened early on, so he guessed I would seek his help. I hadn’t even called yet, and he had already set out."
"Oh my goodness, he’s got such foresight," Amber Edwards widened her eyes slightly, secretly wondering about the kind of genius friends Jane Sampson had.
If her friends knew, they would likely only comment with ’666’.
"Seems it’s better not to mess with Oscar Wilson; his information channels are terrifying," Jasmine Seven found Oscar somewhat divine.
"Just hope he doesn’t boast too much; it might be hard to handle later," Alexander Forest said, dampening the mood.
"Brother, your mindset is a bit petty, just because Oscar and George Gates are good friends, you’re being so bitter," Jasmine Seven looked disdainful, "Can’t you be more magnanimous?"
"I’m in my prime, not middle-aged and overweight; where would a big belly come from?" Alexander Forest scoffed, patting his stomach, cracking an exceptionally cold joke.
"Let’s go, we’ll sit back and wait; meanwhile, let’s see the result of the auction item theft," Brooke Black invited everyone to sit back down.
If a relatively small charity auction like this suffers from theft of auction items and can’t handle it well, this company might as well shut down.
No one was in a hurry to leave; they were all prepared to stay and wait for the outcome.
Jane Sampson, Jasmine Seven, and Amber Edwards sat together chatting, when Brooke Black’s mobile phone rang; it was James Black calling.
"Auntie," James Black’s voice was low and urgent on the phone. He quickly asked, "Is Jane okay? How bad is the injury? Was she scared?"
"Even though it’s just a flesh wound, it looks frightening." Brooke Black glanced at Jane Sampson’s shoulder, "It’s swollen, but rest assured she wasn’t scared or emotionally affected; she’s sitting here laughing and chatting with her friends."
James Black heaved a sigh of relief.
"Auntie, don’t wait there with Jane. You guys, including Alexander Forest and them, find an excuse to leave now. Don’t waste time; once you leave, head straight to the Black Residence or the hotel to find Jane’s grandparents."
James continued, "Don’t stay there; there could be danger. I’m on my way now."
"Also, don’t let anyone notice your emotions are off, so don’t mention what I told you to Jane or the others," James thought for a moment, then said, "Just say you need to take Jane back to treat her wound to prevent infection, and bring Alexander Forest and the others out together."
"Alright." Brooke Black didn’t ask further about the dangers James spoke of.
Indeed, being able to steal an item worth more than 30 million under everyone’s nose shows that this thief is no ordinary person.
It’s highly likely not just one or two people but might be a gang operation.
