Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 543 - 541:Apostles of the end.
Chapter 543: Chapter 541:Apostles of the end.
"Eyy!? Grandpa Momon!! Grandpa Omari!!! You’re coming out?! You want to play with Lucien?" Lucien’s excited chatter broke the tense atmosphere as the little man seemed genuinely thrilled to see the two emerge.
The black light around the kid flared up as a deathly chill crawled through the region, freezing everything in its place. Time’s glow died. Space’s continuum ended. For a brief instant, there was nothing. Just absolute stillness—a stillness so complete it felt like the world had been brought to an End.
But just then,
Craaack!!!
The moment shattered as the two figures finally made themselves known.
Their forms were blacker than night, their eyes burning with crimson spectral flames.
One stood at least twelve feet tall, its body nothing but a jagged black armor that seemed to draw in all the starlight, snuffing out its brightness so that nothing but darkness was allowed to exist around him. A massive blade was implanted into the space beside him as he stood with arms outstretched.
"Finally... I am out..."
The second was perhaps even more disturbing.
It didn’t look like a man or a beast; it was an amalgamated fusion of a man and a horse. Together, they stood even taller than the twelve-foot knight. The being atop—or rather, fused with—the horse had eyes glowing with a spectral blue flame, a haze of shadowy black smoke rising from the crown of its jagged, horned armor. Its body was completely covered by a smoky cloud of absolute darkness, the only sources of light being the flaming hooves, mane, and eyes of the horse fused to the being.
A gigantic lance had been impaled beside it as well, as it merely raised its head, glancing back at the excited Lucien.
"Little one." Omari’s voice was a scraping sound that tore at the very souls of men, causing the Eruvines who had come to stop us to cease to exist instantly from the sound alone, utterly incapable of putting up any resistance.
But it didn’t end there. The moment their essence tried to return toward the Lifetree, something halted them, turned them grey, and then removed them from existence entirely, bringing them to a true END.
"This..." I could finally hear the ancient, aged voice of Death itself shake as the being seemed to have recognized something. But Omari cared not for any of that as he continued addressing Lucien:
"Your grandpas have some talking to do with an old friend, so maybe next time."
"Pooh... no one wants to play with Lucien anymore." The little man’s eyes turned teary as his head dropped, and a sudden panic gripped everyone around.
"Not at all, my baby!" Aunt V was the first to act. "Things have just been a bit hectic, is all, don’t worry. Once everything is sorted, we’ll play all you want." She assured him, trying to lift the child’s mood.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
The place went quiet for a few moments before—
"Okay! Lucien will wait. Hehehehe... Lucien can finally play with Grandpa Momon and Omari! Yes!!!"
Honestly, how this kid could be so detached from whatever was happening around him had to be some form of special talent. Tell me why, in such a tense moment with literal Death present, all he could think about was playing.
Maybe weirder still was the fact that we all seemed to have put aside the very embodiment of death just to comfort a child.
"I guess he truly is the hidden boss of this book. Maybe that bastard author, too, wherever he is. Hope he’s having a shitty time, ’cause I’m loving mine." I couldn’t help grinning at the thought as the confrontation finally continued.
"Master!!!" Momon—not one for subtlety—roared out in one part ecstasy, one part anger. "You filthy coward!!!! Finally! I get to pay you back for your betrayal!" The rage and pain in Momon’s voice were clear for all to hear.
The betrayal and abandonment by Death itself must have stung badly for the knight.
Huuummmmmm!!!!
A palid grey light shone through the region as Death’s presence intensified, and before long—
Crack!
It shattered as a being manifested from within.
Grey hair peeked out from a grey hood. Grey eyes swirled like gates to the afterlife itself. A sickeningly sharp, glinting scythe was held dangerously in his right arm, with his left placed behind him.
"Death... I must say, I’m not surprised he chose to make you look like that. He’s not known for his creativity, after all." I shook my head gently as I looked at the most textbook display of Death’s image that could ever exist.
Barring the fact that the bastard had avoided making the guy wear black, everything else was basically the same.
"Try to be more creative next time, you damn author. And you’ve been so good all this while, heh!"
"Of whom do you speak, O Absolute?"
"Nothing you should be bothered with, Death, for I believe you’ve got bigger fish to fry." My words hadn’t even finished leaving my lips when—
KARANNNNN!
The screeching sound of colliding metal echoed through the region.
Momon had attacked, his massive blade clashing with Death’s scythe.
"Master... do you think it’ll end well if you ignore me?"
BANG!!!
A massive foot connected with the torso of Death’s manifestation, sending the being skidding backward, its eyes flashing with disbelief.
"This..." Death’s eyes widened, unable to believe what he was feeling.
"Pain?" His voice was as shocked as it could be. He, the manifestation of the law of Death, being hurt?
"Are you surprised, you coward?" Momon taunted. "You didn’t think you would be seeing us again so soon after running away from that being, did you?"
"You... you’re not my knight." Death’s eyes found the silent figure of Omari. "None of you are." He affirmed, sure of his claims.
"Allow me to clarify any confusion you might have, O Death," I stepped out as Death’s gaze settled upon me.
"I present to you—"
"Omari Dumont." The massive smoky figure appeared before me.
"Momon Dumont." The large knight also manifested before me, both of them dropping to one knee as I finished my words.
"My Apostles of the END."
*******
A/N: Death versus his horsemen, lol, I’m sat.
I’m going to bed. The next Chapter might come when I wake up. My eyes hurt for some reason so I’ll see if resting them will help, as always...
