Within the White Tiger Race’s territory, Bai Zhennan’s expression grew incredibly grim as he listened to a subordinate’s report. Shen Haoran had actually returned from the City of Sin alive. Not only that, but he had also killed the city’s King, who was a Spirit Emperor Level expert. ‘How on earth did Shen Haoran manage that?’

“Clan Leader Bai, Yao Wuchen of the Medicine Hall invites you to a meeting there. He said someone wants to use the Medicine Pool, and the other Clan Leaders are already on their way!” Just as Bai Zhennan was agonizing over the news, a Martial Artist entered the room to report.

Hearing the Martial Artist’s words, Bai Zhennan nodded, stood up, and started to walk out. However, as he reached the door, it suddenly dawned on him. ‘Shen Haoran just returned from the City of Sin, and now the Medicine Hall says someone wants to use the Medicine Pool… could that person be Shen Haoran?’ At this thought, Bai Zhennan’s expression darkened, and he sped toward the Medicine Hall.

By the time Bai Zhennan reached the Medicine Hall, the Clan Leaders of the other three great families had already arrived. They all looked on with some confusion as Bai Zhennan rushed in.

“Clan Leader Bai, we’ve been waiting for you.” Yao Wuchen smiled and gestured for Bai Zhennan to take a seat before speaking clearly, “I’ve gathered you all today because someone wishes to use the Medicine Pool. That person is Shen Haoran. Since the Medicine Pool belongs to the Four Great Divine Beast Families and the Medicine Hall, I couldn’t make the decision myself. I wanted to ask for your opinions. What do you all think we should do?”

“Shen Haoran wants to borrow the Medicine Pool?” Hearing Yao Wuchen’s words, the Clan Leaders of the Four Great Divine Beast Families were all stunned and fell silent.

“I disagree!” After a moment, Bai Zhennan immediately voiced his opposition.

“The Medicine Pool is reserved for the younger generation of Central City,” Bai Zhennan said coldly. “Furthermore, its opening is on a strict schedule. It’s not due to open for another year. Those are the rules, and rules can’t be broken. Otherwise, are we supposed to open it for just anyone who comes along and asks to use Central City’s Medicine Pool?”

“I agree with Clan Leader Bai,” Feng Qingwu chimed in. “We’ve invested a great deal into this Medicine Pool. It should be a blessing reserved for Central City’s younger generation. Shen Haoran is merely a human. It would be unreasonable to break the rules we’ve established for a single member of the Human Race, wouldn’t it?”

Hearing Bai Zhennan and Feng Qingwu, Yao Wuchen nodded. He then turned his gaze to Long Xiaotian and asked, “Clan Leader Long, what are your thoughts?”

“I don’t think it’s out of the question to open it for Shen Haoran, and it wouldn’t truly be breaking the rules,” Long Xiaotian said after some deliberation. “Think about it, everyone. If not for Shen Haoran a few months ago, Central City would have been destroyed. You could say he single-handedly saved Central City, and perhaps even the entire Demon Race. To this day, we haven’t even offered him a proper thank you. Opening the Medicine Pool now can be considered us repaying this debt. Otherwise, people will think our Demon Race is nothing but a bunch of narrow-minded individuals!” At these words, Yao Wuchen nodded and turned his gaze to Xuan Potian of the Black Tortoise Race.

“I also believe we should open the Medicine Pool for Shen Haoran,” Xuan Potian said, agreeing with Long Xiaotian. “It’s just for a single use. We’ve invested plenty of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures into the pool over the years, and its stored Energy is more than abundant. If we consider it repaying a debt to Shen Haoran, it’s no real loss to us. So why not?”

Hearing Long Xiaotian and Xuan Potian, Bai Zhennan’s expression darkened. The Medicine Pool belonged to the Four Great Divine Beast Families and the Medicine Hall. Now, with the Cyan Dragon Race and the Black Tortoise Race in favor, and the White Tiger Race and the Vermilion Bird Race opposed, the vote was tied two to two. The deciding vote lay with the Medicine Hall.

“I also vote in favor of opening the Medicine Pool for Shen Haoran,” Yao Wuchen said with a soft chuckle. “It’s not just about repaying the debt we owe him. The Talent and power Shen Haoran has demonstrated are more than enough reason for us to try and win him over, to say nothing of the hidden Ji Family backing him. If we make Shen Haoran owe us a favor now, that favor will surely yield much greater rewards in the future—rewards far more valuable than a single use of the Medicine Pool. Therefore, I agree to open it.” As the Hall Master of the Medicine Hall, Yao Wuchen’s perspective was far broader than that of the Four Great Divine Beast Families’ Clan Leaders. With his agreement, the vote became three to two. The majority had spoken; the opening of the Medicine Pool was now a certainty.

Long Xiaotian and Xuan Potian both nodded at Yao Wuchen’s words. Bai Zhennan’s expression, however, turned so dark it could drip ink. Unwilling to stay a moment longer, he turned on his heel and stormed out of the Medicine Hall.

“Hmph! The Cyan Dragon Race and the Black Tortoise Race have clearly taken Shen Haoran’s side, and now even Yao Wuchen is speaking up for him. Is this Central City our Central City, or his—Shen Haoran’s?!” Bai Zhennan roared furiously upon returning to the White Tiger Race’s territory.

“Clan Leader, please calm yourself,” an Elder of the White Tiger Race said in a low voice. “Since the matter is decided, there’s no use getting angry. What we must do now is think of a solution.”

“A solution? What solution is there?” Bai Zhennan said, his face grim. “Long Xiaotian, Xuan Potian, and that old bastard Yao Wuchen have all agreed. My objections are useless now!”

“If that’s the case, then we’ll have to deal with Shen Haoran himself,” the Elder said with a sinister laugh. “They’ve agreed to let him enter the Medicine Pool. All we need to do is detonate the Energy within it. Even if Shen Haoran were at the Spirit Emperor Level, he absolutely wouldn’t survive. The amount of Energy stored in that pool has reached an astonishing level. This way, we can eliminate Shen Haoran without a trace and satisfy your grudge, Clan Leader!”

Hearing the Elder’s words, a sharp glint flashed in Bai Zhennan’s eyes. ‘That’s right… Shen Haoran wants to enter the Medicine Pool, so I can use the Energy inside it to kill him. No one would suspect me. After all, the Energy contained within the pool is terrifying; it wouldn’t be unreasonable for it to erupt from time to time.’ It was indeed an excellent plan.

“I’ll leave this matter to you,” Bai Zhennan said coldly. “I expect to hear news of Shen Haoran’s ‘accidental’ death soon, not of his breakthrough.”

“Rest assured, Clan Leader. I will not disappoint you,” the Elder said with another sinister laugh before exiting Bai Zhennan’s study.

“Shen Haoran, let’s see you escape from my grasp this time!” A venomous look flashed in Bai Zhennan’s eyes as his icy voice echoed throughout the room…
