Chapter 263: Chapter 186: Jiang Silu Calls Him Dad for the First Time, Lu Fan is Excited
She pointed to a photo of a little girl crying on a rockery.
"This one is from the first time I tried to cook. I made a huge mess of the kitchen, and my mom took a picture, said she needed to preserve the evidence."
The little girl in the photo had flour all over her face, and the contents of the pot were pitch-black.
"This is when I got into a fight with my brother. He made me cry, and my mom made us make up. She insisted on taking a picture together. See? We both still have tears on our faces."
Photo by photo, it was her life story.
Lu Fan looked through them one by one, his heart feeling both sore and soft.
He hadn’t been there for any of these moments he should have been a part of.
But at least now, he could see them.
"Silu," he said suddenly. "Show me your future photos, too."
Jiang Silu looked at him, and after a moment, she gave a gentle nod.
"Okay," she said with a smile. "I’ll send them to you after I take them."
Lu Fan smiled, then gestured for her to get some rest.
He, meanwhile, continued looking at the photos one by one.
And Jiang Silu quickly fell asleep.
When the plane landed, Jiang Silu was still asleep.
Lu Fan gently nudged her. "Silu, we’re here."
Jiang Silu groggily opened her eyes and looked out the window to see a vast expanse of white snow.
She was stunned for a second before it dawned on her.
This was the Northeast. Shenyang.
’It looks so cold,’ she thought, shrinking her neck into her collar.
Lu Fan chuckled. "The hotel has heating. You won’t be cold for long."
A private car was already waiting for them when they left the airport.
As they drove toward the city, Jiang Silu pressed her face against the window, gazing out at the snow that was everywhere.
For a girl who grew up in the south, snow held a natural fascination.
Although Jinling sometimes had snow, it was mostly just light flurries.
Nothing like the thick blanket of snow before her now.
She couldn’t resist taking out her phone to snap a few pictures to share with her mom, Jiang Yixia.
After driving for over half an hour, the car stopped in front of a hotel.
Jiang Silu looked up and was instantly shocked.
The hotel was so tall she couldn’t see the top. A red carpet was rolled out at the entrance, where doormen in uniform stood waiting.
"This is..." she trailed off, turning to look at Lu Fan.
"We’re staying here tonight," Lu Fan explained as he got out of the car.
Jiang Silu followed him inside. The lobby was as big as her school’s athletic field, with a crystal chandelier hanging from the high ceiling, so bright it was dazzling.
She couldn’t help but let out a "WOW," but then felt a little embarrassed and quickly clamped her mouth shut.
The hotel manager was already waiting in the lobby.
He personally checked them in and arranged for a butler to escort them upstairs.
The elevator ascended all the way to the thirties.
When the doors opened, a long corridor with a thick carpet came into view.
As Jiang Silu stepped onto it, the floor felt soft under her feet, like walking on clouds.
Chen He walked ahead, swiped the key card to open the door, and stepped aside to let Lu Fan and Jiang Silu enter.
Jiang Silu walked inside.
She had braced herself beforehand.
’It should be about the same as that presidential suite from before.’
But when she walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, the view outside was of the entire city. A vast blanket of white snow covered the high-rises and streets, and a tower was visible in the distance.
She went up to the window, her face almost pressed against the glass, and couldn’t help but exclaim, "This is so beautiful, isn’t it?"
Lu Fan stood behind her and asked with a smile, "Do you like it?"
Jiang Silu nodded vigorously.
She had stayed in a presidential suite before, but that one was on a mountaintop with a view of the mountains.
This time, she was high above the city, looking out over the entire metropolis.
The feeling was completely different.
"Rest for a bit first," Lu Fan reminded her. "We still have the concert to go to tonight."
Only then did Jiang Silu remember their ultimate purpose!
Sun Yanzi’s concert!
She asked again, "Were we able to get tickets?"
Lu Fan replied with a smile, "We got them. Don’t worry."
Jiang Silu was so excited she spun around the room twice before diving onto the sofa, hugging a pillow and giggling foolishly.
As she laughed, she suddenly felt sleepy.
She had woken up too early and the flight had been so long that her eyelids were growing heavy.
Seeing her state, Lu Fan said caringly, "You should rest for a while. Go sleep in the bed so you’ll have energy tonight."
Jiang Silu hummed in agreement, got up, and went into the bedroom.
The bed was big enough to roll around on several times. She flopped onto it, and smelling the pleasant scent of the sheets, she was asleep in no time.
When she woke up, it was already four in the afternoon.
Jiang Silu opened her eyes, stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, and took a few seconds to remember where she was.
She got up, pushed open the bedroom door, and saw Lu Fan sitting in the living room, looking at his phone.
"You’re awake?" Lu Fan looked up and asked, "Did you sleep well?"
Jiang Silu nodded, her hair a mess.
Lu Fan said, "Go wash your face. Someone will be here to pick us up soon."
Jiang Silu quickly went to wash up. When she came out, Chen He was already waiting at the door.
The three of them went downstairs, where a business van was waiting at the entrance.
After getting in the car, Chen He drove them toward the concert venue.
From a distance, Jiang Silu could already see a sea of people over there.
Long lines snaked around the venue entrance, all people waiting to have their tickets checked.
Some held up light sticks, others wore fan apparel, and still more were lined up at merchandise booths.
Jiang Silu pressed her face to the window, her eyes lighting up. "There are so many people!"
Lu Fan explained from beside her, "We won’t have to wait in line."
Jiang Silu was taken aback. "Then how do we get in?"
Lu Fan didn’t answer, just smiled.
The car stopped at a side entrance, where several people in uniform were standing.
Chen He exchanged a few words with one of them, who then nodded and respectfully pulled the side door open.
Jiang Silu followed Lu Fan out of the car and through the side entrance.
Inside was a corridor laid with a red carpet, its walls adorned with large posters of Sun Yanzi.
The corridor was quiet, completely insulated from the noise outside.
