Chapter 452: Chapter 250: Lu Fan: Jiang Guoqiang is Moved?! He’s Relenting
After the classroom for the studio was approved, Jiang Silu was busy for three straight days.
On the first day, she cleaned the place with Song Miaomiao, Lu Yao, and Liu Shiting.
The empty classroom was covered in dust, and there were cobwebs in the corners.
The four of them grabbed rags, brooms, and mops, and worked all afternoon.
Lu Yao complained about being tired while wiping the windows, but her hands never stopped moving.
Song Miaomiao squatted on the floor, scraping stubborn stains from the corners until her hands turned red.
Liu Shiting quietly arranged the desks and chairs, neatly lining up a few old desks brought over from other classrooms.
"Silu, what are you going to name your studio?" Lu Yao hopped down from the window, flicking her rag.
Jiang Silu thought for a moment and replied, "I was thinking of just calling it ’Silu Design Studio.’ Simple and easy to remember."
Song Miaomiao laughed. "Sure, simple and direct. Once you make it big, that name will be a brand."
Lu Yao joined in the teasing. "Yeah, yeah! We’ll be the founding members. Don’t forget to give us some shares when you go public."
Their teasing made Jiang Silu laugh, and she flicked water from her rag at Lu Yao. "Go public? Why don’t you help me finish mopping the floor before you talk about going public."
The group laughed and joked around for a while. Once the work was mostly done, the classroom finally started to look the part.
The white walls were clean, the blackboard was visible again, and a few old desks were lined up against the windows.
They were covered with light gray tablecloths that Song Miaomiao had found online, giving them a simple, clean look.
In the corner was a pot of pothos that Liu Shiting brought from her dorm, saying it was to purify the air.
Jiang Silu stood in the middle of the classroom, spun in a circle, and suddenly felt a sense of peace.
’This is my studio.’
’It’s simple, but I’ll take it one step at a time. It’ll get better.’
On the second day, Jiang Silu went to the electronics market and bought a computer tower and monitor, and also snagged a used printer.
The money was disappearing fast. In less than two days, ten thousand yuan was gone.
She looked at the numbers in her ledger, feeling a little panicked.
One hundred thousand yuan had sounded like a lot, but she was only now realizing how little it went.
The computer alone was over six thousand, the printer was eight hundred, and tablecloths, stationery, storage boxes, and other miscellaneous items cost another three hundred.
She closed the ledger, took a deep breath, and told herself not to rush.
On the third day, Xiaoya had a licensed copy of a design software suite delivered, complete with a user guide.
Jiang Silu called to thank her. Xiaoya laughed on the other end. "No need to thank me, it was President Lu’s orders. Go ahead and use it, and ask me if you have any problems. Don’t worry about the software license; just let me know if you need anything."
After hanging up, Jiang Silu sat in her studio, looking at the four empty walls.
White walls, a blackboard, a few old desks, one computer, and one printer.
’This is the starting point of my career.’
She turned on the computer and started registering accounts on various websites.
She wasn’t familiar with the process of opening an online shop, so it took her over an hour of fiddling around to get it set up.
The shop’s name was "Silu Design Studio," and the profile picture was an orchid she had drawn herself.
She then registered accounts on Instagram and Weibo, uploading her past works one by one.
Her gold-medal-winning project from the Landscaping Cup, her sketches of Spring Glow Garden, and her best pieces from class assignments—she uploaded them all.
She also wrote a bio. After several revisions, the final version was just a few sentences: "Currently studying landscape design. Specializing in landscape planning and rendering. Dedicated to creating every design with heart."
By the time she finished, it was already dark.
She stretched and stared at the shop’s backend dashboard for a long while.
The view count was zero.
She refreshed. Still zero.
Refreshed again. Zero.
"It’s fine, I’m just starting out," Silu told herself, trying to be comforting.
She then shut down the computer, locked the door, and headed back to her dorm.
For the next two days, the first thing she did every morning was open her shop’s backend to check the view count.
On the first day, the view count went from zero to three.
She clicked into it and studied the stats for a while. They were just casual browsers; no one had sent an inquiry.
On the second day, the view count rose to eight. Still, no inquiries.
Her Instagram post got a few likes, but they were all from classmates she knew. They liked it and moved on, with no one asking about design work.
At noon on the third day, she was sitting in her studio, staring blankly at her computer.
Her phone rang. It was Jiang Sifan.
"Silu, how’s the studio coming along?" Jiang Sifan’s voice came through the phone.
Silu sighed. "Brother, no one’s placed an order. It’s been open for three days and I haven’t gotten a single inquiry. Did I do something wrong?"
Jiang Sifan was silent for a moment before comforting her. "It’s only been three days, what’s the rush? When I first opened my studio, I didn’t get a single client for the first half of the month."
"Really?" Silu was taken aback.
"Really. Back then, Wen Wan and I would just sit in our studio staring into space every day. We’d go over the ledgers again and again, but not one person even asked for a price. It was only after Sister Jiali introduced us to a client that things slowly started to pick up."
Jiang Sifan continued, "That’s how starting a business is. The initial period of building it up is tough, but once you get through it, things will get better. Don’t just look at how my studio is doing now; I almost gave up right at the beginning."
"Brother, weren’t you anxious back then?" Hearing this, Silu felt her own panic subside a little.
"Anxious? I was so anxious I couldn’t sleep." Jiang Sifan laughed, a self-deprecating sound. "But being anxious doesn’t help. Just focus on uploading your portfolio. If someone asks, answer them seriously. If no one asks, use the time to study and draw. Don’t be idle. When you’re idle, you start to overthink, and when you overthink, it feels like the sky is falling."
