Chapter 477 -257: An Explanation Owed to Two Women! A Difficult Choice

He Lingyi walked in, looked around, and said with a smile, “It’s so beautiful! Brother Sifan, thank you for booking the room for me.”

“Don’t mention it.” Jiang Sifan put the suitcase on the luggage rack. “Go ahead and unpack. I’ll wait for you out here.”

“Mhm!” He Lingyi nodded, opened her suitcase, and started rummaging through her clothes.

Jiang Sifan walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked at the scenery outside.

The sky in Yangcheng was overcast, but the distant Guangzhou Tower was clear, its sharp spire piercing the clouds.

“Brother Sifan, I’m going to get changed.” He Lingyi took a dress out of her suitcase and walked into the bathroom.

Jiang Sifan hummed in response and continued to look out the window.

The bathroom door closed.

A warm yellow light shone through the frosted glass wall, and He Lingyi’s silhouette was projected onto it.

She was taking off her clothes: first her trench coat, then her sweater, then her skirt.

The frosted glass was semi-transparent, revealing not a clear image, but a hazy silhouette.

A slender waist, rounded shoulders, and long hair cascading down her back, all indistinct and shadowy.

She bent over, probably to take off her skirt. Her shadow stretched, her waistline curving in and her hips jutting out.

Jiang Sifan’s eyes accidentally flickered to the glass wall, then froze. He couldn’t look away.

His breath hitched. He quickly turned his head back to the window. His heart pounded like a drum, and his ears felt hot enough to fry an egg.

He took a deep breath, then another, but the image of her silhouette remained in his mind.

He took a deep breath.

‘Don’t think.’

‘Don’t think.’

‘Don’t think.’

The sound of running water came from the bathroom. ‘Is she washing her hands, or her face?’

Jiang Sifan didn’t know, and he didn’t dare to think about it.

He stood at the floor-to-ceiling window with his back to the bathroom, staring at the Guangzhou Tower outside, focusing all his attention on its spire.

The lights on the tower weren’t on yet, leaving it dim and gray.

A few minutes later, the bathroom door opened.

He Lingyi walked out. She had changed into a light blue dress, its hemline falling mid-thigh and revealing a pair of long, straight legs.

She had redone her hair, pulling it into a high ponytail that showed off her smooth forehead and slender neck.

The dress didn’t have a low neckline, but it revealed her collarbones.

“Brother Sifan, I’m ready,” she said, her voice sweet.

Jiang Sifan turned to look at her, stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, “Let’s go. I’ll take you to the Guangzhou Tower.”

He Lingyi walked over, naturally linking her arm through his, and looked up at him. “Do I look nice?”

“Very nice.” Jiang Sifan nodded.

He Lingyi broke into a smile, her eyes curving into two crescent moons.

The two of them left the hotel, hailed a taxi, and headed toward the Guangzhou Tower.

He Lingyi leaned on Jiang Sifan’s shoulder, watching the streetscape outside the window and letting out occasional gasps of wonder.

The taxi arrived at the base of the Guangzhou Tower. Jiang Sifan bought tickets, and he led He Lingyi inside.

It was a high-speed observation elevator. The trip from the ground floor to the observation deck over four hundred meters up took just over a minute.

As the elevator ascended, He Lingyi gripped Jiang Sifan’s arm. She was a little nervous, but her eyes were filled with excitement.

“Brother Sifan, look outside!” she said, pointing at the elevator’s glass wall.

The ground grew more and more distant, the houses smaller and smaller. Cars turned into ants, and the Zhujiang River became a gray ribbon.

In truth, if Jiang Sifan hadn’t just come to the Guangzhou Tower with Wen Wan a few days ago, he would have been reacting just like He Lingyi.

The elevator reached the observation deck, and the doors opened.

The entirety of Yangcheng spread out before them.

He Lingyi let go of Jiang Sifan’s arm and ran to the glass wall. She pressed herself against it to look out, as excited as a child.

“Brother Sifan, look over there! Is that Baiyun Mountain?”

“It should be.”

“And over there? What’s over there?”

“That’s Pearl River New City. There’s a library, a museum, and a grand theater over there.”

He Lingyi turned to look at him and said with a smile, “How do you know everything?”

“I’m a Yangcheng local, after all. Even if I’m from the suburbs,” Jiang Sifan said with a laugh.

He Lingyi walked over, linked her arm through his again, and rested her head on his shoulder. “Brother Sifan,” she whispered, “thank you for bringing me here.”

Jiang Sifan looked at her face, his heart in a jumble.

Her eyelashes were long, trembling slightly, and her lips were a rosy red.

“Don’t mention it,” he said with a smile, tearing his gaze away to look at the scenery outside.

After a lap around the observation deck, Jiang Sifan took He Lingyi to the skywalk.

It was the most thrilling attraction at the Guangzhou Tower.

A completely transparent glass corridor, suspended more than four hundred meters in the air, with the ground directly below.

He Lingyi walked to the entrance, glanced down, and her legs went soft.

“Brother Sifan, I can’t,” she said, grabbing Jiang Sifan’s hand, her voice trembling.

“It’s okay. I’ll hold your hand.” Jiang Sifan squeezed her hand tightly and stepped onto the glass walkway.

He Lingyi closed her eyes and shuffled along behind him, one step at a time.

When they reached the middle, Jiang Sifan stopped and said with a smile, “Open your eyes and take a look.”

He Lingyi cautiously opened one eye and looked down.

The ground was over four hundred meters below. Cars looked like ants, people like sesame seeds.

She let out a terrified shriek, buried her face in Jiang Sifan’s chest, and wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.

“Brother Sifan, I’m scared!”

Held so tightly he couldn’t move, Jiang Sifan froze for a second. Then he reached out, patted her on the back, and said with a chuckle, “It’s okay. The glass is very thick. It won’t break.”

He Lingyi still didn’t dare to open her eyes. She just kept holding him like that for a long while.

A few other tourists walked by, glanced at them, smiled, and continued on their way.

Jiang Sifan’s face turned a little red, but he didn’t push her away.

“Alright, let’s go. Time to head back,” he said softly.
