Chen Ping's Sword
Chapter 672: A Clean Sweep, Pursuing the Defeated
Chapter 672: Chapter 277: A Clean Sweep, Pursuing the Defeated
“Retreat, into the city.”
Sandalwood Platform Mirror put away the bow and arrows, gritted his teeth, drew the golden saber from his waist, and roared out the order, yet he himself surged upstream against the tide.
Despite being at the same realm, the opponent’s martial arts didn’t seem particularly brilliant, he simply couldn’t believe he couldn’t block this female warrior.
In the end, he really couldn’t block her.
After just three moves, he was swatted away like a fly, sent flying dozens of feet, bouncing up, not daring to fight anymore.
He prepared to retreat back into the city.
Meanwhile, on the city wall, appeared a dense crowd of red-eyed civilians, looking out, with a loud shout echoing downwards from the walls that shook the entire city.
“Chase or not?”
Fang Shen and Yuk Chengxian were enveloped in a roaring golden light, transforming into wings, closely following Han Xiaoru, followed by dozens of disciples who had achieved the Primordial Golden Body.
The disciples of Primordial Sect had all grown up.
With the Dao Seed protection, and ample resources provided daily, Blood Strengthening Pills and Essence Replenishing Pills were abundant.
Not only had all those Primordial Emperor’s Sons from the mountains broken through to the Primordial Golden Body.
The first batch of disciples from the Primordial Martial Arts Hall who learned the Golden Body Technique, as well as those from Xingqing Prefecture who allied and converted to the Primordial Technique from the Seven Stars Sword Hall, Shifang Martial Arts Hall, and Wind and Thunder Sword Hall, by this time mostly had already achieved the Primordial Silver Body.
Not to mention nearly twenty thousand elite soldiers at the Silver Body Realm and Iron Body Realm behind them.
Though just twenty-three thousand people, the material consumption of this army accounted for more than half of the fifty thousand troops.
The cost was high, but the results were gratifying.
On the battlefield, it was truly like overwhelming the enemy at one blow; even the elite Beizhou Hu Cavalry crumbled like paper upon contact with this Primordial Iron Cavalry.
These people had long physical stamina, strong qi and blood, and extraordinary strength and speed; when charging as one with their horses, it was like a moving fortress.
In theory, they weren’t afraid of ambushes.
However, that was only under the conditions of past wars, without the involvement of the Divine Martial Realm.
Since Chen Ping went west and slew Ji Tang, the battlegrounds of the world had changed from what they used to be.
Fighting in formations, provisions and manpower tactics, though significant, were no longer overly important.
When the Divine Martial Realm intervenes, it’s truly possible for one to block a million troops.
Even with this Primordial Iron Cavalry army, if the main general isn’t strong and gets slain, when a Divine Martial opponent strikes with full force, wiping them out is merely a matter of wasting a bit more time.
Therefore, after Han Xiaoru gained the upper hand, seeing the opponent proactively retreat into the city and even calling upon civilians to die, using their flesh and blood as a moat, she decided to pull back her troops as well.
No choice.
These civilians and the Beizhou Hu Cavalry seemed mad.
It was as though they had a deep grudge against the Great Yu army.
With hoes and pitchforks, they dared to attack; when disarmed, they would bite like mad dogs; it was obvious they were abnormal.
As the slaughter and charge continued, the iron cavalry stormed the gate, and Han Xiaoru felt the surrounding black aura grow thicker, the scent of blood piercing deep into her lungs, making it feel less like a battlefield and more like a sudden descent into hell.
Sandalwood Platform Mirror, however, hid far away, sneering while watching Han Xiaoru, sensing the increasing resentment, anger, and bloodlust within the city, turning his horse’s head to leave.
Nearby, a frenzy of tens of thousands of civilians surged like tidal waves, crashing into the Great Yu Cavalry, stacking up and squeezing against each other.
“The more you kill swiftly and ruthlessly, the faster the Venerable Lord will advance; once successful, you’ll all perish.”
Han Xiaoru’s eyes showed a hint of reluctance, the golden light on the Three-Pointed Double-Bladed Saber dimming, making it hard to swing.
After stepping into the Divine Martial and refining her body with the Thunder Technique, her strength and qi and blood had strengthened again, her senses sharper, hearing the murmurs of Sandalwood Platform Mirror from afar, her teeth almost grinding to bits.
This tactic was shameless.
Truly pushing through without regard, who knows if victory was assured; even if reaching Dragon City, countless civilians would die.
Such negative energy could almost materialize, birthing specters under broad daylight wouldn’t be unusual.
“You won’t see that day.”
She glanced at the sky where heavy dark clouds loomed like a dome, drawing a short white jade sword from her waist.
With a slight finger movement, a drop of blood fell upon the sword, turning the white jade short sword into a streak of silvery white light, shooting high into the sky.
“Not good.”
Sandalwood Platform Mirror sensed something amiss, and as he was escaping, he turned back and shot an arrow.
The arrow’s glow transformed into a wind dragon, tearing through the sky with a roar, yet oddly not affecting that silver light at all.
It seemed as if that jade sword silver light was just an illusion, without any power.
“What is this…”
Before he could understand what was happening, he saw where the silver light rose, the sky seemed to break as a moon emerged, casting a wave of emerald light, like ripples, spreading crazily throughout the city.
In just three breaths, Qiuyuan City was bathed entirely in an emerald glow, which continued to propagate, covering the entire Xiaoshan Plain, connecting with dozens of southern cities, forming a linked network.
This would be one thing.
The spectacle was indeed astonishing; many divine secret techniques could achieve such a show, yet it usually bore little utility.
This time, however, was utterly different.
Sandalwood Platform Mirror, in shock and anger, observed that as the emerald light covered the city like water, the citizens who were originally in a frenzy, and the Beizhou Cavalry fighting desperately, all froze with a slight glaze in their eyes, ceasing their actions.
