Chen Ping's Sword
Chapter 695: Pursuers Close Behind, Strange Speed
“How dare you.”
The Prince of Yan, Zheng Dongyuan, sitting inside the carriage had not yet become enraged, but the Captain of the Guard, Yun Teng, was already furious.
Chen Ping didn’t know whether this burly man with a full beard and glaring eyes was angry because Chen Ping was accompanied by women, or because he was acting on his own without observing hierarchy and respect.
A burst of hoofbeats, a flash of dark light, and a long spear already aimed at his throat.
He intended to kill right away.
Was this to establish authority?
Of course, it could also be that this Captain Yun Teng was naturally hot-tempered and didn’t regard the lives of his subordinates as important.
This man retracted his horse, thrust his spear, the spear’s momentum like the wind, almost beyond Chen Ping’s eyes’ capacity to discern, fast to the point of irrationality.
However, to Chen Ping, even at double that speed, it couldn’t surpass his reaction.
He had dozens of ways to handle it.
Though it seemed now that his soul and flesh, true essence and blood, were all suppressed by the world’s rules, rendering some of his powers unusable.
Yet, some things cannot be stripped away. Even if the rules are strong, they can’t erase his extraordinary knowledge and combat experience from his mind.
In fact, Yun Teng’s act of thrusting the spear to kill and establish authority did not stir even the slightest ripple in his mental state.
It seemed as if the person to be killed was not himself.
Chen Ping remained unperturbed, but Han Xiaoru couldn’t hold back any longer.
Her body twisted subtly to the left, leaping into mid-air, her waist twisting, lifting the large black wok behind her, larger than a person.
“Whoosh…”
She smashed it down at Yun Teng.
Using the wok as a hammer, Tai Moutain crushing from above.
Bang…
With a muffled sound, Guard Captain Yun Teng only had time to hold the spear horizontally above his head, but both man and horse were already smashed completely, head, face, and limbs flattened into a wok shape, harshly thrown onto the grass.
Despite being locked by the world’s rules in terms of body and strength, Han Xiaoru’s imposing demeanor was not diminished at all.
This move, with the wok as the first intention, attacking where the enemy must defend, sealed off all of Yun Teng’s escape routes. Regardless of this Captain’s many skills or spear techniques, under the wok, he was immediately toppled.
Even in defeat, he didn’t know how he lost.
“Ah…”
Thrown heavily into the grassy mud, Yun Teng was covered in mud, his face mixed with blood, green and black, his hairband shattered, looking extremely battered, roaring with anger, eyes bloodshot, grabbing the spear beside him, flipping and rolling to get up, still wanting to fight.
He believed it was because he was unprepared that he was knocked down.
Yun Teng had just rolled twice, half-kneeled, lifting his spear halfway when his chest shook violently, and Han Xiaoru kicked him, sending him flying six or seven yards backwards.
Upon hitting the ground, he coughed up several mouthfuls of fresh blood, wobbling unsteadily, struggling but unable to get up again.
Just kidding, in the past year when Han Xiaoru led troops to pacify the world, it was a series of bloody battles. She was the divine general who made the Great Zhou’s Hu Cavalry flee at the sight, showing what a formidable combat sense she possessed. With equal physical attributes, Chen Ping suspected that even if there were ten Yun Tengs attacking together, they wouldn’t necessarily defeat her.
“Well done, Sister Xiaoru’s divine might.”
Ji Mingyue clapped her hands and laughed beside her.
Just like a child.
Her face full of excitement.
As if they were not on a mission, nor were they in the midst of an escape, but rather out for a leisurely excursion.
Chen Ping glanced at Ji Mingyue with a slight sense of apology.
It had been a long time since he saw the young girl so lively and mischievous.
When did this change start?
It should be since he prepared for the world’s battle for the dragon, and Ji Mingyue established the Celestial Heart Pavilion to develop intelligence networks, right?
When they met daily, it was always to discuss some obscure and sinister matters, or to scheme against various forces, infiltrate, lurk, set up plots, and use spies…
He who excels in warfare gains no magnificent achievements.
Chen Ping managed to sweep across the land swiftly, winning people’s hearts, and though it seemed Ji Mingyue hadn’t done much on the surface, she invested a significant amount of effort.
A girl of sixteen or seventeen, pondering such dark matters all day long, how could she possibly be happy?
Now that the three were traveling together, despite being in “foreign lands,” they had left all work behind, a rare relaxation for her.
Although in a crisis, she still relished it.
“Not a big deal…”
Han Xiaoru said modestly.
Defeating a minor character, was there really something to be so pleased about?
She glanced over at Yun Teng, defeated and unwilling, only able to vomit blood and unable to stand up, shaking her head with a hint of disappointment: “Crude martial skills, fragile and vulnerable, strength and body also not outstanding, only slightly stronger than ordinary people. However, the only strange thing is his speed, and their speed is somewhat irregular.”
“Right, Sister Xiaoru, you noticed too? All of them, whether on horseback or on foot, even that carriage, are nearly twice as fast as normal.”
Speaking of serious matters, Ji Mingyue’s young face, not fully matured, took on a mature expression, saying thoughtfully: “With such physical strength, it’s impossible for them to march so quickly, and also that man’s previous move.”
Chen Ping nodded.
Acknowledging Ji Mingyue’s observation.
It felt as though they all had the “Divine Movement Spell” applied to them.
Although the Great Yu Dynasty does not have a major sect focusing on talismans, there are some fragmented rune legacies among the people, and occasionally some war generals would draw a Divine Movement Talisman, paste it on their legs, and they would run very fast.
