Chapter 702: Chapter 702: Sharing

"Guanghui."

Shen Wen said with a smile, "Master Huiyuan is truly an enlightened monk of immense Buddhist power. I feel like a whole new person lately, and my heart is so much more at ease."

In Shen Wen’s mind, her recovery was all thanks to Master Huiyuan. It was a miracle from the Bodhisattva.

Therefore, she was incredibly grateful to Golden Ray Monastery.

Because of this, Shen Wen, who had previously held a "better to believe it just in case" attitude toward religion, now felt a genuine sense of piety.

"Yes, Master Huiyuan is indeed a great Buddhist master with profound knowledge of the Dharma."

Cui Guanghui smiled and played along with his mother.

"Mom, stop looking at your calligraphy. Take a break. Auntie Lin is here. She’s waiting for you in the living room."

"Mei is here?"

Hearing her best friend had arrived, Shen Wen smiled and went downstairs, eager to share her good news.

In the living room, a woman of about the same age as Shen Wen was sipping coffee.

Her name was Lin Mei, a longtime friend of Shen Wen’s. The two were extremely close.

"Mei," Shen Wen called with a smile, descending the stairs with a light spring in her step.

"Sister Wen!"

Lin Mei stood up when she heard the voice.

She then looked Shen Wen up and down, clicking her tongue in amazement.

"My goodness, Sister Wen, you really do look so much better! You’ve got color in your cheeks, and your eyes are so bright!"

Lin Mei took Shen Wen’s hand and teased with a smile, "Looks like those things spreading online are true, then? That Divine Physician Li is really something else."

"Things spreading online?"

Shen Wen froze, asking in confusion, "What things online? What Divine Physician Li?"

Nearby, Cui Guanghui, who was telling the housekeeper to cut some fruit, heard Lin Mei’s words and his heart sank.

’This is bad!’

’I forgot to give Auntie Lin a heads-up.’

...

「Feng City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Demonstration Hall.」

At 1:40 in the afternoon, the spacious demonstration hall was already packed, with people even standing in the back and in the aisles.

Today was Saturday, the day Li Xu was scheduled to hold a case study sharing and academic lecture for all the hospital’s doctors.

Generally, hospitals have fewer outpatient appointments on weekends, so many doctors could catch a bit of a break.

Some of the hospital’s internal training sessions, academic conferences, or expert lectures were also typically scheduled for weekend afternoons.

In the minds of many ordinary people, a doctor’s job is simply to see patients and prescribe medicine in a clinic every day.

But in reality, in addition to their heavy clinical duties, doctors also had to undertake a great deal of continuing education, scientific research, paper writing, intern supervision, and more.

This is why being a doctor is known as a "lifelong learning" profession.

Originally, Li Xu’s case study presentation had been scheduled for the previous Saturday.

However, because of Shen Wen’s situation at the time, Li Xu had to go to the provincial capital, so it was postponed to this week.

"Did you hear? Dean Li is going to talk about the case of Mrs. Cui from Guangshun Group today."

A few young doctors huddled together, chattering excitedly.

By now, Li Xu’s reputation at the City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was at its zenith.

He wasn’t just the vice dean; his recent series of miraculously skillful treatments had turned him into an idol for all the young doctors in the hospital.

Especially in the last two days, as more videos and analyses about the "Dharma assembly healing" appeared online, those internet influencers with a bit of TCM knowledge had sensationalized the event, making the hospital’s doctors even more eager and curious.

After all, most of those streamers were just TCM enthusiasts, some even making things up to chase clicks.

The true professionals, the real masters of TCM, were all busy in hospitals saving lives. Who had time to be a streamer?

So, everyone was now looking forward to hearing Li Xu, the man himself, personally explain the key principles and the TCM reasoning behind it.

"Yeah, he’s definitely going to talk about this. It’s a classic modern application of the Zuyou Skill!"

"Thinking about it now, Dean Li’s methods in Mrs. Cui’s case were just so brilliant, utterly subtle and traceless. I’ve been mulling it over myself these past two days, but I still can’t figure out some of the details. How could he be so sure the patient would fall for it? The more I think about it, the more I admire Dean Li."

...

「2:00 PM sharp.」

The door to the demonstration hall swung open, and Li Xu walked in, followed by Dean Song.

The somewhat noisy hall fell silent in an instant, and all eyes focused on Li Xu.

"Dean Song came too?"

Someone whispered in surprise.

You have to understand, Dean Song, as the top leader responsible for administration and external affairs, rarely attended purely professional events like these case study meetings.

His presence was a clear sign of how much he valued and supported Li Xu.

Besides Dean Song, the head of internal medicine Lin Guorui, the head of the emergency department, specialists from the acupuncture department, as well as a group of key doctors like Hu Qiming and the new interns, were all present. The lineup was nothing short of stellar.

Dean Song took a seat in the center of the front row and gave Li Xu, who was on the stage, an encouraging nod.

Li Xu walked to the podium, opened his laptop, and connected it to the projector.

Facing the dozens of eager pairs of eyes below, he was calm and composed.

"Good afternoon, everyone."

Li Xu spoke clearly, "I’m very grateful to Dean Song for giving me this opportunity to stand here and engage in a discussion and learn with all of you. Today, I’ll be sharing two rather typical case studies, hoping to offer some food for thought for your own clinical thinking. If I say anything incorrect, please feel free to critique and correct me."

Without any further ado, Li Xu clicked the mouse.

The first slide lit up the large screen in the demonstration hall.

The first case Li Xu shared was a common one from obstetrics.

...

"As we all know, Traditional Chinese Medicine places great emphasis on the changes of the four seasons. To an ordinary person, the four seasons might just mean alternating between hot and cold, a difference in what clothes to wear. But from a TCM perspective, they are completely different. The difference lies in the rising, falling, floating, and sinking of ’Qi’."

Li Xu briefly described the condition of the patient with persistent postpartum lochia: more than a month after giving birth, the patient experienced continuous vaginal bleeding with dark clots, accompanied by lower abdominal pain that worsened with pressure, a dark purple tongue, and a choppy pulse. The diagnosis was Qi deficiency and blood stasis.

"The four seasons: spring for birth, summer for growth, autumn for harvest, and winter for storage. This is the law of nature, and it is also the law governing the circulation of Qi and blood in the human body."

"So in spring, all things are revived and full of life. The Qi of spring moves upward; it holds the potential for growth and is full of vigor. At this time, the body’s Qi and blood also begin to rise, moving from the inside out and upward."

"In summer, all living things are at their most lush stage of growth. Summer is also hot, and things expand with heat and contract with cold. Therefore, the Qi of summer is the Qi of growth; it is an expansive Qi that radiates outward. During this time, the pores of the skin open, and one sweats easily."

"But when autumn arrives..." Li Xu’s tone grew heavier. "The autumn wind sweeps away the fallen leaves, and all things wither. Therefore, the Qi of autumn moves downward; it contracts inward and carries an air of decline."
