Chapter 376: Chapter 376 The Heir

Abigail’s POV

Alpha Titus didn’t trust easily. One paternity test wasn’t enough for him, so he took me to three different medical centers. Each looked more expensive than the last.

I cooperated with every test. Whenever a nurse took a sample, I kept my head up and answered politely. I was the picture of an innocent woman who deserved an apology.

By the third clinic, the Simons family seemed less suspicious. Apparently, a woman who agreed to this many tests couldn’t be lying. I was happy to let them think so.

The family paid to rush the tests, and all three reports arrived that evening. They came from respected institutions, signed and sealed. No one could dismiss them as something I’d bought.

We gathered in the living room. Titus opened the envelopes while Mila sat beside him. Sebastian stood apart, his arms crossed.

The first report confirmed he was the father. So did the second and third.

No one spoke. Sebastian went pale, then crossed the room and grabbed my collar.

"I was unconscious that night," he snarled. "I couldn’t even stand. What did you do to get pregnant with my child?"

I didn’t struggle. Instead, I smiled up at him.

"The usual thing. Do you need the details, Sebastian, or can you work it out?"

His grip tightened, and for a moment, I thought he might kill me. Then he glanced at his parents and stopped.

"Don’t think this baby gives you a place in our family," he said. "You’re not getting what you want."

He shoved me away and walked out. I straightened my collar. He could hate me all he liked. The test results hadn’t changed.

Mila rose from the sofa and studied me. Unlike her son, she kept her temper under control.

"Now that we have the results," she said, "we need to talk."

The three of us went to a nearby coffee shop and took a table in a quiet corner. Soft music played while someone behind the counter steamed milk. A pleasant setting for buying a baby.

Mila folded her hands on the table. "We said we would take responsibility if the child was Sebastian’s. The tests have confirmed that."

She paused. "Name your price. Let us raise the child, and you can leave with more money than you’ve ever had."

I nearly laughed. She hadn’t even asked whether I wanted to keep my baby.

"How charming," I said. "Do you think you can buy everything? There’s only one thing I want. Let me marry Sebastian and become Luna of Silver Moon. Otherwise, we have nothing to discuss."

Mila gave a short laugh. "You saw how Sebastian treated you tonight. My son despises you. What makes you think he would agree to marry you?"

"That depends on how much you want this baby." I stirred my coffee.

"Yes, he loves Emilia. But everyone knows she can’t give him a pup. Your family needs an heir, a future Alpha." I set down my spoon. "If you want this child, she has to go. Think carefully before you answer."

I stood and picked up my bag. There was no need to keep arguing. I’d given them plenty to worry about.

I was almost at the door when Titus spoke.

"Even if we made him marry you, do you think you’d be happy?" he asked. "You loved him once. You know what he’s like. He would make every day of your life miserable."

I turned back and smiled. "You worry too much. He might not want me now, but that will change when he holds his son. Once he knows what it means to be a father, he’ll come around."

Then I remembered the report in my bag. I returned to the table and placed it in front of them.

"Take a look. I paid the doctor well to confirm the sex." I tapped the ultrasound report. "You might find the decision easier now."

I left before either could answer. But once I was outside, I stopped beside the front window.

Titus pulled the report closer, and Mila leaned over to read it. Their expressions changed. They still looked troubled, but now there was hope as well.

"It’s a boy," Titus said.

A boy. An heir to Silver Moon. I smiled on the other side of the glass.

From the beginning, I’d known what this family wanted most. Three years ago, Titus had ordered me to leave his son. He’d sent me away as though I meant nothing, and I’d swallowed my anger and obeyed.

I hadn’t forgotten any of it. Now I was back, carrying his grandson.

Soon, he would have to choose between the daughter-in-law he adored and the heir his pack needed. I could already imagine how much he would hate it. All those speeches about duty and honor, and now he’d have to decide which one mattered more.

People like Titus made things simple. Give them two responsibilities they couldn’t fulfill at the same time, and they would do half the work for you.

That evening, I returned to my room and kicked off my heels. I’d barely sat down when my phone buzzed. I had a good idea who was calling.

"I’ve done more than enough for you," the man said when I answered. "Your plan is well underway. I trust you remember our agreement."

"Relax." I examined my nails. "I’ll get Emilia away from Sebastian. Believe me, there’s nothing I want more."

"I don’t care what you want. I care about results. Don’t disappoint me."

He hung up before I could reply. I tossed the phone onto the bed and leaned back in my chair.

I knew Titus and Mila would put Silver Moon first. They were proud of doing their duty, even when it hurt.

All I had to do was convince them that choosing my baby was the right thing. After that, they could make their own excuses.

I slept well that night.

Mila called the next morning and asked to meet. She sounded tired, which pleased me more than it should have.

She drove me to a private hospital on the edge of the city. She’d chosen the doctor herself and clearly made arrangements in advance. Of course she wanted another examination. She needed to be sure I hadn’t forged the ultrasound report.

I cooperated. On this point, I had nothing to hide.

The doctor spread cold gel over my belly and moved the scanner across it. Mila stood beside me, watching the screen as he checked the measurements. When he confirmed the baby’s sex, her shoulders lowered.

A boy, just as I’d told her.

I wiped the gel from my stomach and smiled. "Do you believe me now? I wouldn’t dare lie to a family like yours."

Mila didn’t answer.

Outside the hospital, I told her I had an errand to run.

I waited until her car disappeared into traffic, then took out my phone. There was one more call I needed to make.

I dialed Emilia’s number.
