Chapter 2360: Challenging the Female Professor's Authority

  • Next Chapter

When the second period was about to start, Ye Qiu came back and sat down next to Liu Yun.

He caught a faint fragrance coming from Liu Yun. Had she put on perfume?

Back in high school, Ye Qiu had noticed that most girls didn’t know how to dress up, or simply didn’t have the chance to. They all wore the same school uniform.

But once you got to university, it was different. Lots of ugly ducklings turned into swans, mainly because they started learning how to dress up.

And the ones who were even a little bit pretty made sure to dress themselves up nicely.

Liu Yun in front of him was the same. Her clothes were simple, probably some stall-bought stuff or a cheap dress from Taobao, just a few dozen yuan.

After all, Ye Qiu could tell the quality of the dress with just one look.

However, the faint fragrance coming off her didn’t quite smell like perfume.

This period was a psychology class.

For education majors, Psychology is also a very important course. As Ye Qiu listened to the professor up on the podium, he felt a bit unimpressed.

It was only the most basic theory class.

Maybe Professor Wang Caihong on the podium picked up on Ye Qiu’s lack of respect, and besides, she found him somewhat unfamiliar.

“This student looks a bit unfamiliar?” Wang Caihong stepped down and asked.

“Teacher, his name is Ye Qiu, he’s new here, transferred from Jin University.”

Transferred from Jin University?

Wang Caihong found that hard to believe.

After all, Jin University was one of the top five universities in the country, while East Sea Normal University ranked somewhere beyond fiftieth. The gap was huge.

“And he was also the top scorer in the liberal arts track of the college entrance exam.”

The top scorer in the exam as well?

That made it even harder for Wang Caihong to believe.

“Ye Qiu, right? Just now in class, you looked like you really didn’t think much of what I was teaching.”

Wang Caihong was a woman in her forties. Of course, normal universities were mostly female teachers and female professors. Someone with her level of higher education really was different.

“Teacher, what you’re teaching is way too basic.”

“And you think you understand Psychology?”

In fact, Psychology is a very profound discipline.

Psychology encompasses two major areas: basic psychology and applied psychology. Its research touches on perception, cognition, emotion, thinking, personality, habits, interpersonal relationships, social relationships, and many other fields, and it’s connected with many aspects of daily life—family, education, health, society, and so on.

On one hand, Psychology tries to explain basic individual behavior and mental functions in terms of brain operations; at the same time, it attempts to explain the role of these mental functions in social behavior and social dynamics. In addition, it’s related to fields such as neuroscience, medicine, philosophy, biology, and religious studies, because the physiological or psychological processes studied in these fields can affect a person’s mind.

In reality, many humanities and natural sciences are tied to Psychology; human psychological activity is inseparable from the environment in which humans live.

Psychologists engage in basic research aiming to describe, explain, predict, and influence behavior.

Wang Caihong had been researching Psychology for over twenty years and was a postdoctoral researcher in the field. She had also opened her own psychological clinic.

The monthly income from her clinic was far higher than what she earned as a professor.

She hadn’t expected this young student in front of her to be so dismissive.

“So you’ve actually studied Psychology?” Wang Caihong asked.

“I don’t just know Psychology, I also know hypnotism.”

Hypnotism?

Actually, hypnotism and Psychology are closely related.

“You think knowing hypnotism means you understand Psychology?” Wang Caihong was still unimpressed.

“Teacher, how about we do an experiment, see if I can pick out your psychological issues?”

Psychological issues?

Everyone has some psychological issues—things they’ve hidden that nobody knows about.

But ordinary people find it very hard to peek into those.

Now, what Wang Caihong hadn’t expected was that this Jiangnan Province exam champion, a guy who’d transferred from Jin University, actually wanted to challenge her authority in front of so many classmates.

“Do you dare?”

“Why wouldn’t I? But I’ve been fine lately, I don’t really have any psychological problems.” Wang Caihong said outright.

“Teacher, actually, I’m also a doctor.”

A doctor?

“Professor Wang, Ye Qiu used to study medicine at Jin University.”

Just studied medicine?

How did that make him a doctor?

“If your Psychology really surpasses mine, you won’t have to attend my classes in the future. Otherwise, from now on in my classroom, you will listen carefully.”

Wang Caihong walked back to the front of the classroom.

Ye Qiu went up directly.

The guys and girls in class hadn’t expected that after provoking that Zhang Family young master, Ye Qiu would now be challenging a university professor in Psychology.

As soon as Ye Qiu came up, he looked straight at her and said, “Teacher, you said you don’t have psychological problems, but I think you do. And your mindset is actually very extreme—you’ve just been suppressing it this whole time.”

Extreme?

How was that possible?

Wang Caihong didn’t believe it, and the rest of the class believed it even less.

“Sit down, I can show you.”

Wang Caihong sat down.

Ye Qiu stood in front of her.

“Slowly close your eyes.”

Ye Qiu didn’t take out a pocket watch or anything like that; he just used his hand.

Before long, Wang Caihong really started feeling drowsy. When the classroom fell very quiet and the students, unable to believe what they were seeing, looked toward the front, they realized that Professor Wang truly seemed to have been hypnotized.

Ye Qiu had definitely used hypnotism.

“Wang Caihong, you’re not in your forties right now—you’re only six years old.”

Six years old?

Clearly, Ye Qiu had hypnotized her, sending her straight back to when she was six.

Actually, most normal people can’t remember much from when they were two or three, or even three or four years old. Even if those memories remain in the brain, they’re very hard to recall. But after age six, memory improves a lot, and many things can still be remembered.

“Think back. When you were six, where were you?”

“No, don’t… don’t!”

Unexpectedly, Wang Caihong suddenly cried out.

Ye Qiu himself stayed calm, but the other students were shocked.

Once they processed what was happening and realized that Ye Qiu had already hypnotized Professor Wang, they understood that she was now in a completely unconscious state, entering a dreamlike trance under Ye Qiu’s guidance.

She remembered being six, remembered her father committing domestic violence against her mother, her mother being beaten badly and hiding in the corner, crying.

…

About half an hour passed. When Ye Qiu finally woke Professor Wang Caihong up, she had no idea she was still in the classroom.

“Teacher, you just blacked out. You’re in your office now.”
