Chapter 114: Why Is He In My Dorm

  • Next Chapter

Aina

Aina scrambled in her mind to make sense of the situation and somehow save it. What do I do? What do I do? Before she could form a coherent thought, Theo said something so audacious that it brought her right back down to earth.

"You’re stalking me, aren’t you?" Theo said with a cocky attitude in his posture as he stared down at her. "I knew it. You were stalking me."

For the first time since she dumbed into the idiot, Aina finally realized what was happening. Wait a second, this is my dorm room. Mine. Who does he think he is, and why is he here? This is my dorm!

"Hold on a second, this is my dorm," Aina stammered, taking a step back as she finally regained her composure to think straight. "What are you doing here, and why on earth do you think I’m stalking you? This is my dorm. In fact, you’re stalking me! I wouldn’t put it past you and your brothers. You’ve all been quite my fans of late."

Theo scoffed, letting out a sharp laugh. "You’re crazy, aren’t you? What are you even talking about? This has been my dorm room for three years, and you think I’m stalking you? You think way too highly of yourself, Travis."

"Okay, it was yours three years ago, but I can’t verify that information," Aina replied, tilting her chin up. "Now it’s mine, so get with the program. I don’t appreciate you guys making my life hell all the way to my dorm, either. Let’s keep the torturing in the school halls, shall we?"

Theo looked at her like she was completely insane. He crossed his arms, his jaw tightening as he glared down at her. "You’re insane. You are fucking insane." He took a step forward. "This room has been assigned to us for three years straight, including this year. It has been my room since the beginning of the year."

"Me too!" Aina argued back instantly. "It has also been my room since the beginning of the year! I have been here since the term started!"

Aina patted down the pockets of her trousers and pulled out her room key. She held it right in front of his face, shaking it slightly.

"Look, look, look! See? See? See?" Aina said, her voice rising. "This is my room. This is my room key. Can you see it? You’re not blind, right. Can you see it, right? It even has my name on it there. It’s mine. As you can see, this is my room. I don’t see your room key."

"Oh, I’ll show you," Theo snapped, scowling at her key. "I’ll show you and your fake room key."

He reached into his back pocket, pulled out his own gold-rimmed key, and thrust it right into her space. "You see? What is this? What is this?"

Aina squinted her eyes, staring at the plastic card in his fingers. "I don’t know, I can’t see it."

"Clean those glasses!" Theo barked, holding it even closer. "Because this is my room key. You see it? You see? You see? You’re not blind, right! You want another look at it?"

Aina huffed, slapping her hand against the side of her hip in frustration. "Fine! You also have a room key. But I think there’s just some huge misunderstanding happening, and we should be able to work past this. This must have been a mistake because we can’t both be in the same dorm."

Theo kept his arms crossed, staring down his nose at her. "You said you’ve been here since the beginning of the year. You’re telling me I’ve been staying in the same dorm with you since the term began, and I had no idea?"

Aina shrugged, a small smirk crossing her lips despite her annoyance. "Yeah, you have. Looks like you can get killed easily."

Theo looked like he was about to fight her right then and there. His red eyes flashed, but he caught himself, taking a harsh breath through his nose. "Oh, you are such an unlikable wolf-shifter."

"So are you," Aina shot right back.

"I cannot be in the same dorm as you," Theo said, annoyed by her replie, waving a hand toward the door. "You know what? You need to get packing and get out of here."

Aina scoffed, rolling her eyes. This guy is crazy, she thought. He thinks I’m going to leave? Where am I even going to go? Which is as good as this room, plus I am not giving up this room with a kitchenette just so he can be comfortable.

"Of course not!" Aina spat out. "I’m not going anywhere. If you have a problem with me being here, then maybe you should go."

Theo’s eyes widened slightly in sheer disbelief. "Where are you getting this audacity from? I’ve been here for three years. You’ve been here for barely a full term. If someone is leaving, it’s you!"

"No, I don’t think so," Aina insisted firmly. "In fact, I’m going to stay exactly where I am."

"You know," Theo threatened, leaning down into her face, "if I go to the reception right now, they’re going to say you must get out and I must stay."

Aina raised an eyebrow. "I doubt that."

"You want to bet?" Theo sneered.

"Sure," Aina snapped.

They both rushed out of the room at the exact same time, shoulder-checking and pushing each other past the narrow doorframe. They stormed down the carpeted hallway, maintaining a strict three-foot distance between them out of pure petty spite.

When they reached the elevator, they stepped inside together. An awkward, suffocating silence settled over the small space as the doors slid shut. Neither of them wanted to use the stairs because they were both exhausted from traveling. They hated each other, but not enough to take four flights of steps out of pride. They just stood on opposite sides of the elevator car, staring fixedly at the floor numbers lighting up.

Ding.

The doors opened, and they practically sprinted out across the school and toward the reception desk.

Mrs Gable sat behind the counter. She wore reading glasses, calmly typing away on her computer, completely unaware of the storm approaching her desk.

BANG.

Aina and Theo slammed both of their hands onto the front edge of the wooden desk at the exact same time. Mrs Gable flinched back slightly, startled by the sudden violent noise. "Mrs Gable, there has been a massive mistake in our room assignments!" they both shouted loudly, their voices overlapping.

Mrs Gable slowly lowered her reading glasses, looking back and forth between Aina and Theo. She didn’t look bothered in the slightest.

"What seems to bother you, boys?" Mrs Gable asked smoothly, leaning back in her leather chair. "He’s in my dorm!" Aina yelled, pointing a firm finger straight at Theo’s head.

"No, he’s in my dorm!" Theo sharply corrected her, his voice echoing loudly off the stone walls of the reception. Mrs Gable let out a long, heavy sigh, turning her attention back to her computer screen. "Okay, what is your room number?"

Theo rested his hands on the desk, leaning over with an arrogant posture. "It’s the penthouse dorm. Think about it, what other room would I possibly get? I’ve been here for three years, Gable. Catch up with the program."

He was so deeply disrespectful about it that Mrs Gable looked like she wanted to punch him straight through the monitor. But she held herself together, forcing a sweet, tight little smile onto her face as her fingers clacked away at the keyboard.

"Room 403, top floor of the dormitories," Mrs Gable read aloud from the database. She looked up at them over her glasses. "I don’t see a problem at all. In fact, this room assignment was approved by the king and the headmaster himself, so there is no error." Aina stared at Mrs Gable in utter horror, her mouth hanging wide open. "I’m a first year! How could a first year possibly dorm with third years?!"

"I don’t know," Mrs Gable replied smoothly, taking a slow sip of her cold tea.

What do you know?! Aina screamed in her head, her mind spiraling into full panic. Seriously, what do you even know?! Do you guys get off on trying to get people killed at this school?!
