Chapter 168: YOU HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB

"You have to stay away from your brother, because he is not who you think he is." Jeremy gritted his teeth. It was hard to accept the concept that Oliver was already gone.

"What do you mean?" Olivia asked. Her voice was stifled as if she were holding back tears. "What do you mean my brother is not himself anymore, Jeremy?"

"Where are you, Olivia?" Jeremy suddenly asked.

"In my bedroom. Why?" Olivia asked. She sounded confused.

"Can you do something for me, Olivia?" Jeremy knew that Olivia had a crush on him, and he felt bad for using that feeling for his own benefit, but he was desperate, and being locked away in this secluded place was not exactly helping.

"I will do everything for you, Jeremy."

Jeremy felt relieved when he heard that, but he also felt guilty at the same time, because he knew he was being a jerk right now. "Can you tell me whenever Oliver is acting out of the ordinary? Send me a picture, or a video will do too."

"What are you going to do?"

Yeah, what was Jeremy trying to do? He didn’t know, but somehow, he felt that his friend was still there. It was like being possessed by something when the real you stayed there, only in a dormant state. That was how he processed everything. After all, they were talking about devils.

Maybe Jeremy could take Oliver to get an exorcism? Would that help? He didn’t have any idea.

"Just help me with this; can you do that, Olivia?"

Olive sounded hesitant, but then she agreed. "But Jeremy, are you really... a monster?"

"I am not a monster." Jeremy was offended. The stupid media had labelled them with that name and made it sound fancy by changing it to an animagus.

"Can I meet you?"

"Not now, but maybe we can arrange something."

They talked some more before hanging up, after Olivia promised to keep Jeremy in the loop on what Oliver was doing and to let him know if she sensed anything unusual about her brother.

"Did you get the location?" Owen asked when the connection ended.

"Yes, sir." A man in his uniform replied, giving a thumbs-up.

Owen then smiled at his sister. "Good job, Olivia. You have done a great service for this country." He caressed his sister’s head and kissed her forehead.

Actually, Lilith wanted to take her, but Owen disagreed—this sweet girl could be useful.

"Are you sure... he will be alright?" Olivia looked at her big brother with a worried expression. She agreed to do this because Owen said he was going to help Jeremy.

He said that people who could shift into animal forms were like people with a disease and therefore needed to be cured. Therefore, Olivia agreed to that.

"He will be alright. We will put him in a safe place, where people will look into him and find out how to cure him." Owen caressed Olivia’s cheeks. "Go back to your room. You have done a great job."

Olivia nodded. She looked around at the second living room on the second floor that had turned into Owen’s working space with a few of his experts.

"Leave the phone, Olivia. I will need that."

Olivia hesitated, but she had no other choice but to obey her big brother. She put the phone down and then left for her bedroom, watching the news about the monsters. The number of missing people increased significantly. It was close to the end of the year, and the weather started to get cold.

Olivia took her phone and scrolled absentmindedly, trying to remember Jeremy’s phone number, because she didn’t have it anymore in her contacts.

"Give me one week, and I will give you the answer on what steps we will take. For the time being, lay low and don’t attract attention. Hide somewhere until I give the order," Zade said.

The five-hour meeting was draining, physically and mentally.

"King Zade. One week is too long; how many more of our people have to die before we can openly fight them back? We don’t do anything to deserve this! We have been living alongside the humans for so many decades peacefully, but once they knew about our existence, we suddenly became criminals?"

And there were many alphas who protested Zade’s decision; they were unhappy.

However, the thing that they failed to understand was how vital it would be if Zade gave his approval for the retaliation. If you saw the situation right now, it was chaos, but once he gave the green light for the shifters to fight back, it would be a battleground for them—it was their second nature.

That was why Zade wanted to give his plan one final shot.

"What are you planning to do?" Alpha Sebastian asked impatiently. Then, realizing how rude it sounded, he added quickly, "My king."

"I will have a talk with Abram."

For a moment, silence befell the room. They were stunned. "Do you mean—King Abram? The monarch of the humans?"

"Yes."

"How? He must be tightly protected, and you are the number one wanted person in this country."

"I have a way." Zade stood up. "Give me one week. If this didn’t work, then at least I know I have tried to prevent a bloodbath, so it will not sit on our conscience. We have tried to avoid it."

They were not happy with the decision, but they knew the Lycan wouldn’t budge; moreover, he was the only one who knew how to deal with the devils.

This was not his first rodeo in a chaotic situation created by devils, where people fought against one another, and fear spread like a disease as suspicion among them grew.

Therefore, they couldn’t do anything but trust their king’s judgment, in this critical moment.

"And then what about her?" Alpha Edgar asked, nodding his head at Seara. "Is it true that she is your mate? The future queen?" He sounded almost disappointed.
