Chapter 1580: Chapter 794: Victory in One Move!

In fact, when the three of them are in good form, they can score over 90, but Lin Beichen and his team’s results were so outrageous that it really crushed these three.

So naturally, they couldn’t put up good scores anymore.

"You lot get 6 points. Let’s start the second event." Ye Liebiao said quickly, face dark.

The first event had been way too humiliating, especially seeing the people of the Phoenix Mercenary Corps all hanging their heads, expressions like they were constipated.

Ye Liebiao knew that if he didn’t do something, they wouldn’t even need to finish the match—they’d already have lost.

"The second event is hand-to-hand combat. Each side sends three people. Win one bout, get two points." It wasn’t that Ye Liebiao didn’t want to put more points on the fighting event to give himself more of an edge.

Actually, from the start they’d already agreed with Lin Beichen that each event could give at most 6 points.

Otherwise, if they lost all the other events but then set the last one to be worth hundreds of points for a win, there’d be no need to bother with the other events; they’d just fight once and be done.

They obviously wouldn’t allow that kind of situation that wrecks the fairness of the match.

Fairness matters. Even though absolute fairness doesn’t exist, you still have to keep up at least the appearance of it.

Very soon, Ye Liebiao picked out two fighters, plus himself, exactly three people.

For this fighting event, Ye Liebiao was full of confidence, largely because of himself, and because of a subordinate who had sparred with Tyson before.

"Brother Lin, I’ll be making a fool of myself in a moment." Ye Liebiao said with a smile.

The boss of the Phoenix Mercenary Corps was personally taking the field, which immediately boosted their morale quite a bit.

"Oh yeah, boss, go get ’em!"

The Phoenix Mercenary Corps members were all cheering for their boss.

Lin Beichen also picked two people to go up together with himself.

One of them was Tyson, and the other was Hu Zi, formerly of the Fierce Beast Mercenary Corps.

Originally Lin Beichen had planned to choose Leopard, but Hu Zi said Leopard was his defeated opponent, so he should be the one to go up.

Seeing Leopard lower his head with an awkward smile, Lin Beichen knew Hu Zi was telling the truth.

Besides, this event was very important. If they lost, the whole Mercenary Corps would have to get moving. Sure, with a "monster" like Lin Beichen around, the chance of losing was tiny—so tiny it could be ignored—but as the saying goes, even a Lion uses all its strength to hunt a rabbit.

How could Lin Beichen not go all out?

When he saw Lin Beichen coming over with two people, Ye Liebiao was clearly stunned for a moment and asked, "Brother Lin, why are you only sending two people?"

Could it be that the opponents who are good at fighting are only these two, and he’s afraid that if he throws in some random guy he’ll lose too miserably, so he’s only sending two?

Thinking it might be like that, Ye Liebiao couldn’t help but feel a little secretly pleased.

But he hadn’t stayed pleased for long before he heard Lin Beichen say, "And the third one is me."

"What, the fighting event only allows the boss of the Phoenix Mercenary Corps to take the field, but not me?"

"Or is it that each person can only fight once?"

Hearing that Lin Beichen wanted to fight personally, Ye Liebiao froze for a moment, then quickly forced a smile and said, "Of course you can. It’s just that fighting is different from shooting—if Brother Lin accidentally gets hurt, that’d be bad."

Ye Liebiao felt that Lin Beichen going up himself was basically the same as not choosing anyone at all.

You had to know: the three on his side, plus the two Lin Beichen had picked for the fight, were all big burly guys, thick arms, thick legs, hulking builds.

But Lin Beichen looked on the lean side—how much strength could he possibly have?

Standing off to the side, Tyson seemed to catch Ye Liebiao’s line of thought and couldn’t help wanting to laugh.

If the other side underestimates their Brother Lin because of his build, Brother Lin might end up beating them till they cry for their daddy and their mom.

After all, when Brother Lin had taken care of him, Tyson, he hadn’t even needed much effort, and had even lifted him up one-handed. Thinking back on it now, Tyson still felt a bit scared and shivered.

Hearing Ye Liebiao warn him to be careful not to get hurt, Lin Beichen gave a faint smile. "Thanks for the reminder. How are six people going to fight?"

Lin Beichen couldn’t be bothered to argue with him; he’d just let his fists show the guy how wrong his judgment was.

Seeing that Lin Beichen was determined to participate, Ye Liebiao stopped trying to talk him out of it and began explaining the rules: "We’ll just do one-on-one bouts. Win a bout, get two points."

"Alright, Tyson, you go first." Lin Beichen said as he loosened up his muscles and joints. To be honest, it had been a while since he’d traded blows with anyone.

He’d have to be careful about controlling his strength later, and not accidentally beat someone to death.

Tyson nodded, walked over to Ye Liebiao’s side, and said in a domineering tone, "Who’s going to fight me?"

Looking at Tyson, Ye Liebiao suddenly felt he looked just like Li Kui, Lin Beichen’s guy from before—he seemed really familiar.

Then, almost reflexively, he turned to look at Old Qian standing to the side.

This time Old Qian was very in sync, knowing exactly what his boss was thinking and wanting to ask, so he said directly, "Boss, you’re not mistaken. This guy did stay at our base for a while before."

Hearing that, Ye Liebiao’s face went dark again, like some grim-faced judge.

"He also knows the boss of the Wolf Fang Mercenary Corps..."

Old Qian added another line of explanation.

Ye Liebiao then looked back at one of his subordinates behind him, just about to send him in.

But unexpectedly, before he could speak, that guy walked up to Ye Liebiao’s side and whispered, "When Tyson was still at our base, I already fought him once. I’m not his match..."
