Contract Marriage: Enemies With Benefits
Chapter 19: Kiss
Sienna stepped away from the man as she hoisted herself up on the kitchen counter, quietly observing his movements.
He drizzled the heating pan with a few drops of avocado oil lightly before he grabbed three eggs and effortlessly cracked them above the heated pan, one by one.
He chopped some mushrooms, seasoned the omelette and sprinkled some cheese before covering it.
Sienna had never been the one to watch cooking shows but right now, she couldn’t tear her gaze away.
"You are drooling," the man folded his arms in front of his chest as he looked at her.
’’I..." Sienna cleared her throat, a bit squeamish and guilty inside, "The omelette looks delicious. I cannot wait."
He chuckled. The sound of it was so carefree and deep that it seemed to tickle her ears a bit.
He folded the omelette like a wrap and served it on a plate before handing it to her.
Sienna did not eat immediately.
"What is it?"
She grabbed a knife and cut the omelette in half, "Earlier, you showed up at the event so you must have changed your plans. I doubt you had the time to eat,’’ she handed him a fork.
Outside, it was snowing heavily. Inside the kitchen, the two people shared an omelette on the same plate, one seated on the counter while the other stood in front of her.
"I never thought you’d know how to make an omelette so good..."
"There are a lot of things that you don’t know about me."
"Oh?" Sienna put the plate aside as she looked at the man challenging, "Tell me one thing that would surprise me."
Sienna was confident that he wouldn’t be able to come up with anything that would get a reaction out of her.
So, she proceeded to jump off the counter when she heard him whisper.
"When I saw you earlier in the party, I thought that you were the most beautiful woman in the world," his warm breath caressed the nape of her neck.
And her hand slipped, her balance was gone.
Sienna found herself falling off the counter and crashing straight forward into Callahan’s chest.
The man caught her effortlessly. Her t-shirt rode up and she felt his forearm sliding around her waist as he held her.
When she met his gaze, he was already looking down at her, with a smile in his eyes.
"You... You just made that up to get a reaction out of me," She punched his chest as she tried to move back.
But his arm tightened around her waist and she felt the cool touch of his watch on her skin.
"Shall I try again then?"
Sienna’s throat ran dry. There was something so dangerous and alluring about the way he whispered those simple words yet made them sound suggestive, "A-Alright."
He leaned closer, casually tucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ear while he looked into her eyes.
"As I look at you right now, I still entertain the same thought," His eyes lingered on her flushed skin, her parted lips before meeting her gaze again, "Even prettier."
Her eyes widened and her skin felt like it was on fire.
Suddenly, a gust of cool air grazed her skin as the man released her waist and stepped back from her.
As she looked at him, there was a hint of amusement in his eyes as if the man was being cocky: Oh, see, I managed to surprise you, not once but twice! And you can’t do anything about it because you are flustered.
Against all her rational thoughts, Sienna stepped closer to him.
She hooked an arm around his neck and stood on her tiptoes, watching his eyes briefly widen.
And then, without any warning, she kissed him.
It was slow at first but then as his lips parted, she pushed her tongue in. Her movements were slow and deliberate as she lightly nibbled on his bottom lips, teasing him without going all the way.
Callahan leaned forward, his hand rising to support her back. But the moment he moved, Sienna pulled back completely.
She wiped her lips with the back of her hand as she looked at him with a smile, "Looks like you are not the only one who is good at surprising others,’’ she said in a provocative tone.
But the moment she turned around, the smug smile faded from her face. She headed upstairs with the pace of a person who was being chased by a ghost.
That night, Callahan did not show up in the master bedroom.
Sienna tossed and turned on the bed for a long time, unable to fall asleep.
At the first crack of dawn, her eyes gradually closed and her head lolled to one side.
The next morning.
At Melory’s, a lavish breakfast was served on a single table occupied by two people.
"You look like a vampire, really. Even though you are nearly married, you should exercise some restraint," Jace stirred the sugar in the coffee before passing it to her.
"There is nothing like that between us!" Sienna, who was distracted, suddenly snapped to her senses when she heard those words.
"I was just kidding..." Jace stopped speaking as realization dawned on him, "Something really happened?!"
Sienna sipped her coffee, not uttering another word.
Jace observed her reaction and clicked his tongue. "No wonder you are having breakfast with me instead of eating with your hot husband. You are avoiding him! Don’t tell me you initiated whatever happened between you?"
Sienna choked on the coffee, "Cough... Nonsense...!"
"Sienna?" Seth was still dressed in the suit from last night, his hair was a mess and there were dark circles under his eyes, "I went to your place last night. You were not there..."
"I have moved out."
Only then did Seth notice that there was another person on the table, "Who is he? Is he the one you have hired to be your fake husband?!"
Jace chuckled as he put the fork down, "President Seth would be surprised. Sorry to let you down, but I am not him."
