"I am cold," Callahan suddenly said.

"Ah?" Sienna blinked, "Shall I get another blanket..."

"Come here. Warm me up."

"_"

Sienna hesitated for a brief moment before she inched closer to him on the bed, "Is it better now?" she whispered.

A strong arm wrapped around her waist, and in the next moment, her face was buried in a warm chest. The subtle fragrance of pine seemed to have enveloped her.

The man closely held her in his arms, leaving no gap between them. She could feel every ridge of his muscle against her, and hear the sound of his steady heartbeat.

"When did it start?" He asked.

Sienna hesitated for a moment before she lightly grabbed his T-shirt by his waist, "Not long after mother..."

"For a long period, I had strange dreams. In my dreams, I would hear her calling for me. Or, sometimes I would see in a hospital where I would be taking care of her the entire night while she would be fast asleep..."

"Then, sometimes, I would dream of the moment when she..." Sienna stopped speaking, "I don’t know when it started but when I close my eyes, countless thoughts would plague me."

Sienna realized that she had been speaking for so long but Callahan hadn’t uttered a word.

’Did he fall asleep? Should I move back to my spot?’ Sienna felt a little reluctant for some reason, ’Since he said he was cold, I will just do him a favor... and warm him up.’

The little angel sprouted above her head, ’How utterly shameless. No clarity in thoughts, even more confusion in actions!’

The little devil smirked, ’He invited you anyway. While you are at it, soak in his warmth and feel his body...’

A vein throbbed on Sienna’s forehead and her face turned abnormally hot.

She slowly started to move back from Callahan.

But she hadn’t even moved an inch when the grip around her waist tightened.

"I’m still cold," Callahan whispered and pulled her back into his arms effortlessly.

This time, her head rested on his bicep and her face was dangerously close to his.

Sienna tilted her head back by a few inches as she spoke, "I thought you dozed off."

"That’s still no reason to leave my side,’’ his warm breath caressed her cheek.

Sienna wanted to point out that the way he was holding her captive, she couldn’t go even if she wanted to but after giving it a thought, she sighed.

"Cal."

"Yes, butterfly?"

Sienna felt a soft flutter in her stomach, "Earlier, you went so quiet. Were you thinking about what I said?"

"Mm."

Just that. He did not seem to be keen on sharing his thoughts.

"I am sorry," Sienna suddenly said.

Without giving a chance to respond, she added, "We dodged the crash near the mountain pass and met Alex there. But the bridge shattered and my car..."

A few people had seen them there but they hadn’t seen them leaving with Alex. Hence, the word of two people falling off the bridge must have spread like that.

"I lost my phone there. I didn’t think..."

Sienna didn’t think Callahan would rush all the way here in a few hours.

When she saw Leon showing up in that disheveled condition, Sienna had felt her heart sink.

And on the way to the mountain pass, she had barely kept herself composed. Her heart... was in turmoil.

The idea of something happening to him terrified her.

"Are you really sorry?" the man asked suddenly.

Sienna snapped out of her daze, "Yes, you don’t trust my words? Try me. I will do whatever you say."

"Alright. Close your eyes and don’t interrupt me until I stop speaking."

Sienna was instantly intrigued. What was he getting at?

The angel and devil sprouted in front of her eyes again doing a little happy twirl as they bowed and congratulated each other.

Sienna’s bit her bottom lips, ’Could... Could it be that he is going to tell me that he has fallen for me?’

Her heart beat a little faster when she thought about it but Sienna felt conflicted, ’Actually, it’s quite understandable he fell for me. He has good taste. But how should I turn him down without hurting his sentiments?’

The more Sienna dwelled, the more it made her sigh, ’Right now, I have no time for such things. I want to focus on my work and even after that I can’t consider him, right?’

No matter what, their bond was unusual. They got along well now but what if they hated each other’s guts at some point again?

To save him from humiliation, Sienna decided to play the hero and stop his confession before it started, "I know what you are about to say. Look at me, it’s hard not to... sigh! But, you must not. We are impossible."

There was a long moment of silence.

"What are you talking about?" Callahan sounded unamused.

Sienna had a moment of realization, "You..." Did she get his intentions wrong?

Sienna pursed her lips.

"Have you closed your eyes yet?" He sounded amused this time.

She wanted nothing more than to bury herself in a rat hole, ’Sienna, ah, Sienna, since when did you become so narcissistic?’

Grievously, she closed her eyes and buried her face in her palm.

There was a hint of laughter in Callahan’s voice, "Since you are apologetic, show your sincerity."

Sienna wondered what he was up to.

"I was thinking... Have you considered your sleep troubles to be a little like an oscillating system that refuses to settle into equilibrium?"

’Ah?’ Sienna was speechless.

Then, it suddenly dawned on her and she was speechless again.

Back in school, although she would dedicate herself to score the highest to spite him every time, she had a weakness.

She could never focus in Physics classes. And he was the best at it. Everytime it was his turn for the presentations, she would intentionally doze off to show her lack of interest and spite him even more.

’Is he going to explain theories now and make me listen to it?! No, he wouldn’t be that petty...’
