The girl, apparently exhausted, finally revealed her location.

Chen Xing instantly closed in on the girl’s position. But just as she was about to strike, she abruptly spun her blade around and thrust it behind her.

A bloodcurdling scream erupted from behind Chen Xing.

A girl collapsed into a pool of her own blood, a crimson wound blossoming on her chest.

The other girl, still concealed in the shadows ahead, grew frantic.

There were originally three of them. Their leader was supposed to draw her attention while the two of them moved in for the kill.

But... their leader had been taken down the moment he made his move.

They had waited for her to lower her guard before trying the same trick again, but they never expected her to see right through it.

Chen Xing had deliberately feigned an opening, tricking them into thinking she had only detected the two of them.

In reality, ever since taking down the man, she knew two opponents remained.

After throwing her knife to force the third assailant out of hiding, she left without a moment’s hesitation.

She had no desire to find out what kind of superpower they possessed.

She couldn’t afford to get bogged down by it.

By the time she returned to the Carson family’s home, it was nearly dawn.

Chen Xing found a high vantage point to overlook Hulton City.

’If I’m not mistaken, these Lizard Monsters only appear at night.’

’They must have some weakness that prevents them from adapting to daylight.’

Sure enough, the few Lizard Monsters nearby were no longer looking for people to attack, but were instead sprinting off in a single direction.

She didn’t know the exact location, only that it was near the building where the masked man had appeared.

She recalled the little dinosaur monster to her space.

After returning to the Carson home, she had Carson quickly pack his things, and then she led him away from Hulton City.

Shortly after they left, she saw several helicopters descending on the Carson home in the distance.

Carson’s heart pounded with fear.

If they hadn’t left when they did, escape would have been far more difficult.

Chen Xing asked Carson if there was anywhere he wanted to go.

Carson said he had always been fascinated by Huaxia culture, especially its cuisine, so Chen Xing took him along on her flight to the Capital City.

On the plane, Chen Xing discovered that her Jiezhi Space had upgraded.

Perhaps because it was attached to her own personal space, the Jiezhi Space’s upgrade caused her no discomfort whatsoever.

It was so seamless she didn’t even feel it happen.

However, unlike her personal space, the Jiezhi Space’s upgrade simply added two small, square compartments outside the original area.

The Jiezhi Space wasn’t as versatile as her own; she tried to put an animal inside, but it was impossible.

She then tried with some seeds, but that also failed.

It seemed that aside from its host, no living thing could enter the Jiezhi Space.

’The Jiezhi Space can only store inanimate objects!’

’Still... the fact that I can hide inside it is a huge advantage on its own.’

When they arrived at the National Capital Safety Zone, the atmosphere was incredibly tense.

Back in the Duole Safety Zone, the Song and Li Families are the only major powers left.

With a member of the Li Family dead, they naturally suspect the Song Family.

Song Yiguo, however, thinks there’s a good chance the Li Family arranged it themselves.

Li Ruixiao is incredibly ambitious and likely wants to exploit the chaos in the Capital City to seize a better position for himself, especially since the Song and Li Families are the only two major powers left in the zone.

"Your Song Family isn’t afraid of the Li Family, right? Why not just wipe them out and take full control? Wouldn’t that be better?" Chen Xing said in a half-joking tone.

"You can’t say things like that!" Vice General Du stared at Chen Xing in disbelief. "If the Li Family were gone, Lu Bingtian would be completely unrestrained! Don’t be fooled. The Lu and Li Families might look like allies, but in reality, they’re both disloyal. Keeping the Li Family in the picture is beneficial for the Song Family!"

Back then, if the Situ family hadn’t tried to assassinate Song Yiguo, we would have let them be as well.

The more families there are, the more divided the attention is.

Song Yiguo would never let the Song Family become the sole focus of everyone’s attention.

’In the apocalypse, nothing is truly that rare anymore.’

’After all, creatures like Hao Wenli, half-human and half-monster, already exist.’

"If there’s a new species, the Lu Family Research Institute is guaranteed to be involved," Song Yiguo reminded her when he saw her lack of interest.

He had to remain in the safety zone to keep things stable and couldn’t leave, so he was counting on Chen Xing to make the trip for him.
