Cooking Gourmet Meals in the Apocalypse
Chapter 321 - 319: It’s Supposed to Be Uncomfortable
Chapter 321: Chapter 319: It’s Supposed to Be Uncomfortable
The alarm was deafening, making Chen Xing’s eardrums throb in pain.
At that moment, several beams of red light shot down at her. They were perfectly accurate, as if they could see exactly where she was standing.
Her Defense System had already activated, shielding her completely.
"Who dares trespass in our hotel?" The hotel manager appeared in the hallway instantly, shouting in Chen Xing’s direction.
Chen Xing knew she had been exposed.
She had probably just touched something.
’Like a system designed to detect invisibility?’
Otherwise, the hotel manager wouldn’t have shown up.
Just moments ago, he had been hiding at the bottom of the stairs, seemingly with no intention of getting involved in Song Yiguo’s troubles.
"I didn’t see you when someone was trying to assassinate me, but you’re certainly quick to show up now, aren’t you?" Song Yiguo’s tone was cold and mocking, laced with a palpable pressure.
The hotel manager was startled. He was so focused on the invisible intruder that he’d forgotten about Song Yiguo.
"Young Master Song, please, don’t misunderstand!" the manager explained hastily. "We were just coming up to investigate when we encountered this Invisible Man. What are you all staring at? Grab these assailants!"
The ridiculous part was that the nearly one hundred assailants didn’t struggle in the slightest, allowing a dozen men to lead them away obediently.
Chen Xing had no intention of letting them off so easily.
The superpower in her hands condensed into shards of iron, which she used to slit the throats of all one hundred assailants.
Before the hotel manager could even react, he saw a sheet of metal flash through the air, and a hundred lives were extinguished.
"How dare you!" The terrified manager scrambled to hide behind a Superpower User. "To commit murder right under Blake Commander’s nose!"
"They were the assailants!" Chen Xing’s voice came out of thin air; she remained invisible. "I was just delivering the punishment they deserved!"
Song Yiguo’s face showed a flicker of surprise when he heard Chen Xing’s voice.
’I can’t believe Chen Xing awakened two more superpowers.’
But clearly, this wasn’t the time to ask about it.
He snorted coldly, directing all his hostility toward the manager.
The manager broke out in a cold sweat. "Young Master Song, please, don’t get the wrong idea!"
He quickly explained, "As you know, many Invisibility Superpower Users have been taking advantage of their ability to cause trouble recently. For your safety and everyone else’s, we’ve installed thermal imaging devices here. They can detect any Invisible Man who enters."
"This Invisible Man snuck in, most likely with ill intent toward you. We’ll capture her for interrogation at once!"
’Nice words.’
’But torture would surely follow if they caught me.’
With a wave of his hand, he gave the order to capture her.
But... where was the Invisible Man? She was just here a moment ago, but now she had vanished.
The thermal sensors seemed to have stopped working, too.
Song Yiguo, knowing Chen Xing had escaped safely, didn’t press the issue any further and returned to his room.
Seeing that Song Yiguo wasn’t going to pursue the matter, the manager immediately locked down the entire hotel to hunt for the invisible intruder.
Meanwhile, Chen Xing had already used her Jiezhi Space to return to her apartment.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Just in case, she kept her makeup on, still appearing as a woman from the Middle East.
When she pulled the door open, she saw several United States soldiers carrying rifles. "We heard you checked in today but didn’t register with the local authorities."
"My name is Adilei..."
"There was just an attack at the hotel affiliated with the Great Commander Mansion. Were you in your room the whole time?" the soldier asked, though he knew it was unlikely to be her.
The two locations were close, but... there wasn’t enough time to leave the hotel, get back into this building, and return to her room.
Even an invisible person would leave some trace on the security cameras, and the main entrance to this building hadn’t opened at all.
Their questions were merely a formality.
"I’ve been in my room sleeping. I haven’t gone out," Chen Xing replied. She noticed something was off about one of the soldiers’ gazes, and her tone grew colder.
"Is there anyone else in the room?" It was the soldier with ill intentions who asked.
The other soldiers heard his question and knew he was up to no good.
Playing along, they pushed the door open wider. "Why don’t you go in and see for yourself if anyone’s there?"
Then, they gave the lecherous soldier a shove forward.
Chen Xing took a step back to avoid contact.
The soldier who entered the room scanned his eyes over it.
The room wasn’t large. There was a bed, a kitchen by the door, and a bathroom further inside.
The water supply to the bathroom was on a timer.
Ten minutes in the morning, ten minutes at noon, and ten minutes at night.
Chen Xing had turned on the water once before, but the smell was so foul that she had shut the door tightly and hadn’t gone back in since.
The soldier, apparently used to the smell, opened the bathroom door, took a look around, and came back out. "So, you’re all alone?" His gaze was filled with lust.
"Yes." Chen Xing covered her nose with her hand.
The smell coming from the bathroom was too pungent.
At that moment, the soldiers outside tactfully reached for the door. "We’ll go check the other units. Take your time!"
As soon as the door was completely shut, the soldier placed his rifle in a corner of the kitchen and was about to speak.
Suddenly, he felt all his strength drain away.
He even found it difficult to move. "What’s happening to me?" he asked, looking at Chen Xing in fear.
’Does this have something to do with her?’
Chen Xing asked expressionlessly, "Are you unwell?"
’Of course you’re unwell.’
’How could you possibly feel well after having your superpower drained?’
The soldier leaned against the wall in terror, mustering what little strength he had to pick up his rifle. "What did you do to me?"
Chen Xing smiled. "What could I possibly do? Shall I see you out?" As she spoke, she walked over and opened the door.
The soldier had lost all interest in his previous endeavor. He staggered out of the room. "Don’t let me find out you did this, or I’ll kill you!"
Chen Xing casually shut the door.
She entered her Jiezhi Space and reappeared beside the soldier, already invisible.
He had already gone down the stairs and was heading toward his comrades.
His comrades were downstairs, questioning another woman.
When they saw him approaching, they were all stunned. "That was fast?" ’How embarrassing,’ they thought.
But when he was still a few meters away from them...
a long gash suddenly appeared on his neck, and blood sprayed out like a fountain.
"The Invisible Man is here!" Their first thought was of the woman upstairs.
The soldier had only ended up like this after coming out of her apartment.
Realizing this, the soldiers didn’t even check on their fallen comrade; they all ran back upstairs.
They knocked, and the door opened a few seconds later. "What is it now?" she asked, sounding impatient.
But... this made them think she couldn’t be the Invisible Man.
Everyone knew that an invisible person still had to open a door to get in or out.
They had run up the instant it happened and hadn’t heard or seen a door open.
"Lock down the building!" The order was given quickly, but they knew it was already too late.
Just as they turned to leave and head for the stairs, someone from downstairs shouted, "The main gate’s been smashed open!"
