Creepy Pharmacist: All my patients are scary!
Chapter 848: From Now On, You Belong to Me!
Bai Yi's heart was in his throat.
He knew.
Even though his Big Brother was kind and willing to answer his summons, that was only because of him. As for others, Big Brother might not care at all.
But he truly didn't want Sister Yin Qin to die just like that...
She...
He stared quietly for a long, long time.
The corners of Lynn's lips slowly curled upward as he gazed at that trembling, exquisite face before him, and said:
"What's your name?"
The yin spirit within Yin Qin's body trembled as she replied, "Yin... Yin Yi..."
Lynn smiled eerily, tapping his temple with a finger, and said, "A lovely name. Then do you know, since you've already offered yourself to me as a sacrifice, and I've accepted this summoning, you must accompany me down to hell and serve me forever. Even if I devour you, you cannot resist in the slightest. Do you understand?"Bai Yi's body gave an instant shudder.
Yin Yi's eyelashes quivered slightly, a flicker of gloom passing through her eyes, but then she lowered her gaze, her lips trembling as she said:
"I know..."
The smile in Lynn's eyes grew thicker as he said, "Is that so? In that case, you should understand that you have no right to beg me right now. However, for Bai Yi's sake, I'm still quite willing to give you a choice. In fact, this body suits you very well. You're more beautiful than your older sister, and you have a good heart. So you actually have a better option."
"You can choose to occupy this body right now and continue staying in this world. For Bai Yi's sake, I won't take you away."
"Of course, it's not that I can't heal your older sister either, but the price is that you must come with me, and I will treat you as one of my possessions, to use as I please."
Bai Yi jolted violently, his head snapping up in alarm.
But before he could speak, Lynn stuffed a tentacle directly into his mouth, leaving him only able to shake his head desperately with all his might, unable to utter a single word.
Lynn, meanwhile, continued to gaze at that face with a faint smile, just like a true devil, and said:
"What's your choice?"
Yin Yi's lips moved in a daze as she instinctively looked down at her own hands, caked in mud.
Yes.
Indeed, if she truly harbored malice, then occupying this body the moment her older sister died would certainly be her best decision.
She would no longer have to live as a parasitic twin to her older sister.
Instead, she could independently enjoy this world.
In fact, she had entertained such thoughts more than once. Even when she was very young, before her older sister had discovered her existence, she had often seized control of her consciousness, using that small body to vent the resentment she was born with everywhere she went.
But...
"I choose the second option. I'll go with you. Please, let my older sister live."
Without a trace of hesitation, she raised her head and looked firmly into Lynn's eyes.
Lynn tilted his head, amused, and said, "Won't you reconsider?"
She said softly:
"No need."
Because this was never something that required consideration. Born with resentment, she had never once stopped hating her mother and her older sister from the moment she was born.
She had always hated. Why was she allowed to have her own life while she had to die early in the womb?
Why did their mother have to choose between the two of them and pick her sister instead of her?
That was why she felt so unwilling.
That was why, for a very long time, she struggled and rooted herself in this body with resentment, wanting to destroy her life at every waking moment.
Even for a very long period.
She had believed her older sister didn't know of her existence, so she repeatedly took over this body, committing many terrible things that now seemed utterly unreasonable in hindsight.
But it wasn't until much later that she learned.
Her older sister had actually always known of her existence. She was naturally the finest spiritual medium, and even at a very young age, she had already been able to master those incantations for communicating with the dead. Yet she never exposed her, instead taking all the evil deeds she committed upon herself, making amends on her behalf.
Back then, she understood nothing.
She only knew how to vent her resentment.
And she had never considered that the very reason she could exist was a curse her mother, also a spiritual medium, had placed upon her. Their mother had intended, on the year they turned eight, when her older sister's power grew even stronger, to completely sacrifice this little ghost of hers, allowing her older sister to leap into becoming a more gifted existence straddling the boundary between yin and yang.
And if that had happened, her older sister's current achievements would have far surpassed everyone, perhaps even becoming the greatest spiritual medium in history.
But she didn't!
She had always treated her as her other half, her sister. Even when she learned that if she didn't complete that ritual, if she didn't devour this evil ghost, her lifespan would be reduced to less than half of a normal person's, or even less...
She had still resolutely chosen to continue coexisting with this evil ghost of a sister, even at the cost of breaking with their entire family.
Her lips moved slightly as she said, "Actually, I was always just an evil ghost my mother created to pave the way for my older sister... I was never whole to begin with. Even if I hadn't been devoured by my sister when I was eight, I would have faded away within a few years..."
"And the only reason I've been able to exist until now is because my older sister has been feeding me bit by bit with her already limited lifespan, which is the only thing keeping me from disappearing."
"I've already taken too much from my older sister."
She raised her head, kneeling on the ground, looking at Lynn within the rift.
"I don't want to do anything else that wrongs her."
"So please... save her..."
She lowered her head, staring blankly at the ground. Drop by drop, something crystalline slid along her chin and fell heavily to the earth.
Bai Yi listened urgently to her words. These were things he had never known.
He whipped his head around to look at his Big Brother, a trace of pleading in his eyes, shaking his head desperately. Although he knew this had nothing to do with Big Brother, and the sacrificial ritual had already been completed, Big Brother could absolutely take her soul if he wished, but... but...
Yet Lynn paid no heed to Bai Yi's pleading gaze. He simply watched the girl before him quietly.
A long while passed.
He raised his chin, looking down at her, and said:
"Fine. I agree."
Bai Yi jolted violently, his gaze going hollow in an instant.
And just as Yin Yi tremblingly raised her head, Lynn's fingers flashed like lightning, piercing into her shattered left eye socket. One by one, fine tentacles spread through the inside of the socket with a rustling sound, extending deep into her skull.
Lynn performed the surgery with care, saying, "After I restore her body, you'll belong to me. Do you know how to serve your master? Have you learned? Hmm?"
Wave after wave of intense, sharp pain and a certain extremely bizarre pleasure surged from her eye socket and skull, making her body tremble violently. She didn't know what that sensation actually was, but she could clearly feel those tentacles reaching deep into her skull slowly repairing the damaged brain tissue of her older sister.
She instinctively wanted to grab onto something, her trembling hand desperately clutching Bai Yi's wrist beside her, gripping it tightly.
She tilted her head back, forcing herself to endure that strange sensation in her eye socket, and murmured:
"N... No..."
Lynn adjusted his monocle, fished out a pair of tweezers from System Space, and inserted them into her eye socket, continuing to ask casually as he busied himself:
"That's fine. You can learn properly once you're down there. I happen to know a big tree with a great deal of experience in this area. After you study with her for a while, you'll naturally know what to do. Though I have quite a few peculiar tastes, so you may need to pick up a few more skills, after all..."
The corners of his lips curved.
"I play pretty wild."
Crack, crack, crack, the sound of flesh and blood squirming came from her eye socket, making her breathing turn slightly ragged. She didn't know whether this was her own sensation or some ability of his.
It made her feel both pain and restlessness.
But she already knew her fate. As long as her older sister could live, what did any of this matter...?
"I... I'll study hard..."
She was forced to hold her head up, biting her lip, murmuring as she strained to keep herself from making strange sounds.
But that hand, clamped so tightly around Bai Yi's wrist, was trembling so hard it had nearly dug into his flesh. Even so, she didn't let out a single whimper. Whether it was from the pain or the bleakness of her future, she didn't know...
Bai Yi knelt there, face pale, head hanging hollowly. No one knew what he was thinking. He simply stayed silent. Even though his wrist was nearly being crushed, he didn't make a single sound.
As if, at this age.
Perhaps he could already vaguely sense the stirrings of some feeling, yet he didn't know what it was, nor did he have the courage to grasp it.
He didn't know what it was...
Like that cold hand gripping his wrist so desperately.
Like... like the girl he fancied, right before his eyes, being violated savagely by his own Big Brother, while he could do nothing at all...
He hung his head listlessly, his entire body trembling uncontrollably.
...
Lynn gave a sly, wicked glance.
